It's a resonator guitar, sometimes called a dobro, Gretsch and National make them. It is way louder than a standard acoustic and has a metallic sound to it. Excellent for this and blues style music.

About love for this song => I am from India and for last 3 days I am listening to all the reactions to this song and giving Likes. Some ppl do not get the North of Richmond = Washington DC, some ppl do not get the reference to the JE islands or miner vs minors. However, not a single negative reaction. Also, there must be some more fans of this song doing exactly what I am doing because I have seen at least 5 channels where the number of likes to reaction video were 3 to 4 times the number of subscribers! Okay, this is a good point. There are no negative reactions because these YT reaction video creators are mostly normal people, not political junkies. They usually comment on music videos. There are a few takes (like this one) that pause on the welfare-fudge rounds bar, but it doesn't ruin it for them.
However, among the political pundit class, this is getting slammed by progressive or liberal commentators and by mainstream media. This illustrates one of the points of the song..."they" want to know what you think and control everything. They call this song right wing and accuse it of 'punching down' on poor people (missing the point, maybe deliberately, imo).
But who is really punching down? It's the media and pundits asserting that regular people are not sophisticated enough to understand the song. They ignore the countless commenters saying this is an anthem for everybody...Black, white, left, right, etc.,, and how it's uniting everyone around the world who yearns for a fairer system.
It remains to be seen if this will be filed away as another working man's lament, (a deep tradition in Blues music), or whether it will inspire a real movement for a better society.

He has turned down multi million dollar deals but is desperately needing the money....he needs a second to none security ....you know he has a massive target on his back by evil people around the world.
A week and a half ago he was a nobody with only a couple hundred followers and did all his recordings with his phone...now he has millions of people relating and following him from around the world.
Before this he was recording on his phone and posting at radiowv. The station set up this microphone and recorded this. His story is amazing.

Under the metal cover plate you see is an spun aluminum cone which has above it aluminum spider looking arms going out that rest and the edge of an opening on the top the cone in the body helping to amplify the sound and giving it that distinctive ring . Oh yes! the guitar design is very much part of the sound. That Gretsch he plays there has a spider resonator, just like the first dobros made by National Steel Guitars a long time ago. I myself have been playing bass guitars for the last 45 years or so, and things changed very much for the way I play because I have a Fender bass with the same spider resonator inside it.
His real name is Christopher or Chris. He named his channel Oliver Anthony after his grandfather. He's amazing, his voice is so mesmerizing, and his message resonates to many going through the same thing worldwide, who are wide awake to what's going on and the struggles because of it.
