      Hey hey again Ben!
Haha unfortunately I couldn't deliver a super bright RGB light this time. I think that title currently goes to the Aputure 600c (Since it doesn't quite cost an arm and a leg like an arri skypanel haha)

Excellent review, as usual. I love LED wands for their convenience in lighting on the go interviews on travel docs (there's another usage...small unit doc filmmakers). But can we pack this in our checked bags with those built in batteries (and the possibility of the light switching on and generating a ton of heat?). Can the batteries come out? What is the length of the unit? Maybe it would fit in a rollaboard carryon? I still use the old style LED wands because I can take the NPF batteries off the wand and pack them in my carryon and throw the wands in the suitcase. 100 watts is so tempting!

      Hey hey again Bob!
The built in batteries are 2600mah. Six of them I believe, wired to get close to 20-24v operating voltage. So by my calculations it should be about 57-58wh which is ok to fly with. The ON button does require a long press, depending on how its packed, it could trigger on potentially if something pressed against it. The batteries do not come out easy unfortunately. Its approx 16" long.
I think your NPF style wands, at the moment, is probably the best bet for your doc setup. This Zhiyun might be good for a quick powerboost in a quick situation. Hopefully they create one down the line that takes on the NPF system, though I would like to see it be able to take in 2 large NPF Batteries. If they do something like that it will have to be a little special in which the battery caddy is gonna have to be separate to keep the wand portions weight and bulk down. We shall see if other companies start revisiting the LED Wand build!

@@TLDR_filmmaker Thank you for your thoughtful answer. I agree with you...a detachable battery module would solve the flying problem, and still give us a bright light. In the meantime, this light is a step in the right direction!

Another interesting episode that is itching to make me buy more stuff. 🤣
I don't know if you have seen or used a Rotolite Neo 3, but if you have, then how would you say this wand compares to that portable light please?

      Hey hey again Frank!
I don't have any experience with the ROTOlight NEO 3, but a quick look at the spec sheet shows that the Rotolite is technically a good deal brighter, however it is achieved by having a spotlight beam instead of a flood. The ROTO also has an advantage of using NPF batteries for quick swap usage. The only big main difference is that the Zhiyun has a frost cover in front to eliminate the multi shadow affect where as the ROTO you will have to add diffusion yourself. When that is said and done, the output between the two could be a bit closer. That being said, because the ROTO does not have the frost cover over the LED, the ROTO is technically more versatile in having more punch and ability to go between hard light and soft light.

@@TLDR_filmmaker Good afternoon and thank you so much for such a comprehensive reply. It really is appreciated.
I used my Rotolite Neo 3 properly for the first time last night, and was blown away at how bright it was compared to my Apurture MX and Weeylite K2. Those lights are excellent, and your site was instrumental in me buying them, however the Neo 3 is stupidly simple to use and adjust on the fly or in complete darkness.
      Cheers

Could you suggest a best portable battery powered RGB stick with powerfull RGB output?

      Hey hey Eric!
Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting!
I don't have any suggestions of the top of my head. I know Zhiyun made a updated version of this led wand to give it even more RGB power, but I'm not sure how it compares against of types of RGB lights I have. You may want to look at some reviews of the Godox LED stick that they came out with not too long ago. Not their RGB tubes, but an actual light wand like this one.
Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
