Nice set up...works good fast enough to really turn the ground over. Remember many of the "OLD TIME" tractors had similar hp JD early Fords. Keep at it you are having so much fun you'll be done in no time. My first tractor was a home built 8 HP and it pulled same size plow just as fast, and did a good job. be surprised how fast they work.. cheers
So years ago before the MTD conglomerate i worked at TSC (tractor supply company).Being from a small town in Michigan I felt compelled to provide the locals with truth.I had a kindly old gentlemen approach me and described his budget and what he was looking for.His budget was $2000, A sizable sum in the early 90's.He waqs looking at one of our most expensive tractors on the lot. He went on asking about features of this particular model. It was TSC's house brand HUSKEE. As he was asking of the value of these particular machines.I pointed out to the back of the lot was three rows of machines with pink and yellow tags tethered to the steering wheels.Numbering close to a hundred was these bottom line engineered MTD stamped soda can machines. I gestured that his money would be perhaps better spent on a J.D. or I.H. Cub or a Case\Chalmers from one of the local dealers. The man look perplexed.I explained why those tags were there....warranty failure.I explained that was no distributorship for parts and these being days prior to the internet you would have better luck pissing up a rope than getting a spindle bearing. The man seemed pleased at my honesty.I had explained that our top of the line unit that was right in his price point would have gotten him into a fine mid range unit down the road. Fast forward a half hour: Here sits the kindly old gent in the office with the Scott the manager with the enormous size 9 blubbery fat head and Pedro the brown nose assistant manager.I'm invited to take a seat. This prick was a secret shopper. So came to an end my tenure as lot boy at TSC.. As they questioned me about my motivations ,i astutely stated that i refuse to sell junk and that we were there to sell things that worked and i wasn't comfortable raw dogging innocent people out of there hard earned money in a small farm town such as ours. Moral of the story;T.S.C. can take a flying f*@* at a rolling doughnut.
MTD don't build nothing but crap and not worth carrying home. MTD has ruined the Cub Cadet name. REAL Cub Cadets were built by INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER and if it doesn't have an IH emblem on it....Its MTD shit! I have several cub cadets that are over 50yrs old and still working today. I challenge MTD to build something that will still be around 50yrs from now
I must say that plowed field looks great. I will attempting to plow up a garden spot with my F1100 hooked up with a 12" Brinkley moldboard plow. This is a first time plowing event for me plus its sod.....Good video......
Great video. I have a CC 73 also with a 10" plow. Which of the 3 holes on the 3pt bracket do you have your sleeve hitch mounted on? It's really plowing great, with a nice clean furrow wall. Jason
Proof what kind of motors and tractors they built back then. These ridiculous high horsepower machines built on throwaway unibody frames are what we have today.
actually that HP number is a lie, they are actually ALLOT less powerful then the numbers lead people to believe. so if you buy a lawn tractor with an engine rated at 27 HP then it is MORE then twice as powerful as a 4 cylinder farmall cub???? more powerful then a farmall A? more powerful then a farmall super A, and almost as powerful as a farmall H.............. YEAH RIGHT and i got a bridge made out of pure 24kt gold. stupid manufactures selling stupid over-rated throw away junk to idiotic consumers that believe the old stuff is junk..... what a F'ed up world we live in. you can pry my 1948 farmall cub from my cold dead fingers, I will never buy cheap disposable crap. i bought quality and i bought something that's 66 years old, from an era when quality was a virtue. i'll drag 27 hp lawn tractor around with my cub slighly above idle with that lawn tractor at full throttle screaming away at 3600 rpm, and i will be laughing. shit i will drag that lawn tractor around the yard while im mowing. things were made better back then ALLOT better.
andrew donohue idk, i dont exactly disagree with you, The old iron is just that. and it does and continues to stand the test of time. but i dont think the new stuff is as bad as people make it out to be. being the poor home farmer i cant really say for much of either category but i have a JD L-100 that was given to me because it diddnt run and iv modified it to use it to plow and till my small (Half acre) lol farm. and never had a problem with its Stamped frame twisting or cracking. the engine says its a 17 hp Over head cam engine, idk what its really putting out but i know its never stalled on me. and iv used this to tow a full sized 1/2 ton truck to and from the shop. the home creations have there merit as well i suppose is what im trying to get across. Another thought is gearing. you can have a 4 hp engine and a 16 hp engine and with the gearing one way and another the 4 hp will out perform the the 16 hp. Todays mowers i dont believe have the lower gearing available to them like the older models did either.
+andrew donohue About any engine out there has more power than a farmall cub. They had 4 cylinders but they only had 9hp and no ft. pounds of torque that's why they ran for 40yrs before a rebuild. Power and longevity do not go together. There is no comparison to an IH cub cadet and a craftsman or any other MTD piece of crap. You can never get a lot of power with an updraft carburetor. Can your 140 or your H pull 3 14" plows a foot deep at 5 mph? My 790 John Deere does and it plays with them! I farm 300 acres with my 790. It pulls a 12' wheel disk and an 8 row planter like they are nothing. Just like everyone told me my 122 IH cub cadet would not handle a 54" snow blade. Well, it has been doing it since I bought the tractor in 1985. With me on it, it does weigh over 1400lbs
I got the same tractor and the same plow as this. It won't even hardly go into the ground here. Just rides around on top making a skid mark. We have red clay, not potting soil dirt like in this video.
@tahirswati they are about 400lb. buy USED for about 350-500 bucks. you have to hunt them down.. also you can look for older sears mowers of same style... almost identical
yup, you just got to buy an older machine and restore it. can you buy something of equal quality and built to the same simplistic, rugged standards? NOPE not at any price range
Dani Rodrigues...Must be "operator" error a 35 HP NH should pull 2 14" plows like a bat out of hell. I have a FORD 3000 and it will bury a 14 " plow in new ground. Check here on you tube on how to set up or adjust your plow. There are several. cheers
Well impressed!! You caught the soil condition just right.... Good job and good fun....

this toy will be a great present for my little brothers 5th b-day

Around 1:24 it was really pulling hard, very cool to watch, thanks for the video! 5/5
very cool. I have a 582 , and YES to all the people . this cub in the video will pull a 10" plow. all day long...
nice job.
this little tractor is so sweet!
Great video. I have a CC 73 also with a 10" plow. Which of the 3 holes on the 3pt bracket do you have your sleeve hitch mounted on? It's really plowing great, with a nice clean furrow wall. Jason
Good video!! May you tell me where to find the plow?
Amazed a 7 hp could do that. I'm not as worried now if I put a load on my 10 hp 106 cub.

Where can you get a plow like that? Is it an older one or can you get a plow from Tractor Supply new?
It is on center hole. Thanks for the comment.
I got the same tractor and the same plow as this. It won't even hardly go into the ground here. Just rides around on top making a skid mark. We have red clay, not potting soil dirt like in this video.
