Excellent work and hopefully the next work party will complete the structure with backfill and we need to look at planting the coir. Lots more to do with >400m of bank to repair.
Is the bank now back to where it would have been originally, secondly, would that method work out cheaper than the usual piling and finally, will that new bank withstand moored boats when it eventually becomes solid ?
Great questions. Yes, the bank had eroded more than a metre in places. Piling is no longer an option, it has to be fully environmentally friendly to wildlife, especially water voles now. Yes it should be very sturdy. This method will be back filled and replanted also giving even more strength and stability.
