This song is about depression and the way he moves in his video reflects perfectly what depressing feels like. Fantastic song. Please do “ santé “ next. Its a fun , uplifting song.
You are both right...each of Stromae's songs make you FEEL something....and sometimes, it's hard to point out what you like on the very first listen, so you play it again and again and then you find yourself really liking it afterwards. His lyrics are so good too. This song is about depression and from the start of the song when the war cries begin and the piano plays softly you can feel the emotion of sadness and you can sense the madness that he is battling...it's amazing! I would love to hear your thoughts on his song Sante (which means Cheers) from the same album...I think you will love it.... Love your reviews!
You're right, Stromae is quite unique, he might even look "weird", but his songs are something else than disposable pop hits, they often engage people to talk about hard subjects that are overlooked most of the time. And his engagement with both his lyrics and music can also push people to be more curious about uncommon styles and artists.

yeah quand c'est talk about his mom having cancer that she survive i think ? and him has dynosticed about having it too and it's because of that's that he do a pause for about 6years (idk), tous les même talking about womens the period and other things, papoaouter talk about he dad because he was leaving alone with his mom and asked why he he's not here with them,formidable talk about him broke up and walk into street complety drunk, carmen is about twitter and addiction of being on social media
and i add fils de joie who talk about a fictif world where a sexworker funeral and him (the son) talk about her like she was a hero (sorry my English is not good)

Listen to the most incredible and sincere song about depression and mental health : Mr/Mme, by Loic Nottet. It's 6 minutes long but it's intense. The song is in french but with english subtiles.
Dominica is such a fan girl of Stromae but that’s ok. I think he is a kind of Bowie of our era.

This music is about him, he had to stop his career for 7 years and now too. In this song he talks about himself and these ideas that he unfortunately has.
First time he played it, we were waiting for him to sing again for 8 years. He asked the main French TV journal to come to promote his album. They asked him how he was and he started to think this. We were all surprised. He is amasing.
Lovely reaction :) He's really an artist worth exploring... He's so clever with words whilst being a poet at the same time, he says so much with few words - treat of all good songwriters imo, is an artistic/cinematic talent on top of that and ... icing on the cake.... is one of the most humble, self-questioning and therefore refreshing artists i've come across in my life. And i'm pretty hard into music :p

These 2 songs are not like "alors on danse", the video, lyrics and meaning are much deeper just like your 2 last reactions. You can only like them and they are almost vintages as they are from his previous album!

he still has depression, because it's not a curable illness. it may get better, but it's not gonna go away completely, that's why he sings about it a lot.
I believe it was because he took a malaria medication in Africa with side effects like hallucinations and psychotic episodes
He also tried to kill himself but his brother stopped him
