  • United States population growth from 1790 to 2020 visualized with 3200 wooden blocks. Using census data, we can in this visualization see the population growth and geographical shift to the west as the vast nation grow. Every block represents 100 000 inhabitants.
Today, California, Texas, Florida and New York are the most populous states, but that has not always been the case. Through urbanization and suburbanization the demographical as well as political landscape of the United States changed.

As long as we are playing the Right Vs. Left game... and staying divided, while voting for Narcissistic sociopaths on both sides... There will never be true change for the better. Both main political parties are filled with corruption. and no matter what "good" either side does for some people, it will cause strife to other people. Unity is the only answer for change. And even then, it would be a hard thing to truly accomplish.

One small quibble - crime didn’t decrease due to increased incarceration. If it were that simple the entire world would have less crime. I do think that things like reduction in lead in the environment was part of the issue of skyrocketing crime during the early’90s generation being affected by the environment.
Like the death penalty a lot of it is perception. Like American cities being dangerous during that era and earlier. It’s partially “copaganda” and partially scapegoating vulnerable populations. Nothing got solved most crimes go unreported, not investigated or simply ignored.

Don't forget the selective impact of abortion. It has been posited that many kids who would grow up to be predators (due to dire family circumstances) were aborted, thereby lowering crime rates in the 1990's.

Texas was already an independent nation for 10 years when it broke away from Mexico.
While you could use the word stole, america also paid $15 million for that territory in the Mexican cession of 1848 which is quite interesting as countries typically don’t throw money at other countries they beat in a war, instead they plunder them economically.

Please stop the nonsense about Columbus discovering America. The first Europeans to discover North America landed in what is now Newfoundland in Canada - FIVE HUNDRED YEARS BEFORE COLUMBUS. Additionally, Columbus never set foot in what is now the USA. Please stop telling the crap about Columbus, who discovered the Caribbean islands.

Leif Erikson sure was one of the first Europeans to enter America, but it didn’t do anything. Columbus did some stupid and terrible stuff, but it lead to the major colonization efforts of european empires. So sure technically you are right the vikings made it first, but they had 0 impact, while columbus, as bad as he acted, had the larger impact so it isn’t wrong exactly to say
