I love Home Free I started watching 2months a go now I can't stop watching
I totally love seeing the commentary and reaction from you of past Home Free videos. This video that Home Free did has always brightened my day and made me feel good any time I needed it. Thank you for the walk down memory lane with this one.
Thank you Chris! I discovered Home Free in September of 2017 after a major bicycle accident, 4 weeks in the hospital, and I was finally home but couldn't sleep in spite of major pain meds... I was listening to Pentatonix on UA-cam and dosing off, then Ring of Fire Came on... OMG I loved it, All About That Base was the next song I heard because I decided to investigate Home Free... In October 2017 my eldest son and I went to see Home Free in San Diego, me in my wheelchair... My son and I have been die hard fans since. We only regret not seeing you in concert! Thank you for telling more about my favorite song/video and it's more about the antics and personalities that make this my fave. God Bless You Chris!
I hope you've recovered. I discovered Home Free (and Voice Play) during quarantine. I'm just sad and didn't find them all sooner! I would have tried to see them all live. Best wishes to your health.
@@bekahnavarro thank you so much! I'm walking, and doctors didn't think I'd walk without a walker! I still need 3 surgeries, but I'm putting them off as long as I can. We'll see Home Free live again soon!!!! I'm just sad I didn't see them live when @ChrisRuppe was in the group, I think his personality is stellar.
@@brokenlegvinylbysherrie5747 I'm so glad you're able to walk. I landed on my neck when I was 12. I'm lucky I wasn't paralyzed. I've had chronic pain ever since. It developed into Fibromyalgia. I had to have a couple of surgeries myself. Not fun at all. Idk if you still need to take pain meds, but I found out the hard way that waking up from surgery is way more painful if you take strong pain meds. Your body is used to them.
@@bekahnavarro I took pain meds for more than 4 months straight... I got off them and on to Ibuprofen and Tylenol as soon as I could. My second surgery on the leg was very painful after, but I think it had to do with what the orthopedic surgeon had to do. When used correctly, pain meds are awesome! You've been through a lot, I hope you have the pain under control now. I hear Fibromyalgia is hard to control. I will pray for you Rebekah and I look forward to hearing how much you love seeing Home Free in person, when we finally get to go!
@@brokenlegvinylbysherrie5747 Yeah, I went to Pain Management. It took yrs but they finally have a good "cocktail" of medication. I have to be careful with over the counter meds like Ibuprofen bc my stomach is bad. It's a balancing act. 😁 Stay safe and well.

3:51 that is ironic since he now has a daughter and totally played with her in a dino costume for HF video of Sunday best.
She was only about 18 months old at the time, and so he probably hadn't played with her that much. I bet he would do it now and look so cute doing it. He's such a kid at heart.

Thank you, Chris, for your insider's reaction to what quickly became one of my favorite videos from a group I fell in love with when I first discovered less than two weeks ago. If Home Free ever comes to California I'm trying for a ticket even if I have to take the 8.5 to 11.5 hour (each way) bus ride to L.A.
Decided not to wait. Flying to BC in May. That's one day after Greyhounding it to SF for a stage play. Looking forward to that busy, but very happy week.

I just recently discovered Home Free, and am very impressed. It seems that with each video, something new comes to the table. Not only am I impressed with the group's talent, but the sound tech is awesome! A good sound tech is hard to find. Running sound boards was a tough job years ago. Now with technology being what it is today, I can't imagine how much skills are required. Please give a shout out to Home Free's sound tech. Great job!

One of my favorite videos. No offense to Home Frees newer stuff, but I LOVE the old stuff (and the 2020 quarantine stuff). Somehow it's just that more personal and creative, and one thing that made me fall in love with Home Free (4 years ago) was that exact thing. You got to know the band in a whole different way, and to me that's much more attractive than a pro video that looks like every other artists' videos. I've lost count of how many times I've watched All About That Bass, Champagne Taste, Honey I'm Good, 9to5, Good Ol' Country Harmony, Full Of Cheer, This Is How We Roll and many more + the mash ups. They're different and stand out of the crowd.

@@whiskerbiscuits22 well,, i feel like every state has it’s own ‘accent’. Some are more easily picked up on then others,, but it all depends on where you’re from :))

This is one of my favorites of Home Free! Great beat, funny, fun, and just a great song. The video was awesome! I can’t believe how long Austin held that last note! Hey Chris, Had to come watch this again so I could comment and let you know I saw a reactor the other who is just starting to react to HF and he reacted to this song because as a teenager he loved Megan and watched this video every chance he got so when he reacted to your version he LOVED it and recognized all of the scenes from the original even though they were done a little differently.

When you mentioned Meghan Trainor's video of this song, I paused this and watched Meghan's video for the 1st time. Ohhh, I immediately saw the similarities. Came back here to continue. That was great. I couldn't find the rooster until you pointed it out.... Ha! I learned something new "the W dance moves". Thanks.

I did not realised that it was arranged by Austin. I know that you do the arrangement for HF so I assumed this is yours.
I was the music director overall, and did a lot of arranging, but Tim and Austin did too. Now most of it is done by their producer Darren Rust.
@@ChrisRuppOfficial Darren is great but HF is already good and I think that is because the group have a good foundation.
Im actually a new fan (Aug 2020) and I think I have like 3-5 songs I havent heard.
I even checked out some of HF early works. I liked "How nice I really am" and I was curious if that was you on the lead.
Im not really sure since my only point of reference is "A little bit of everything".
oh, btw. I like the song that you added in the end credits.

Austin does a nice job with that kind of subtle yodeling stuff...could easily be overdone. Didn't know about the chicken, thanks for that, now I'll be looking for the stupid thing every time I watch a HF vid. ;-) Tim's falsetto was nice. I liked the 'attack plant' coming in from the left at 7:23.
I used to have a choir director that 'danced around' like Rob is there, used to break people up...he'd just start doing it for no reason in the most inappropriate times, like the middle of a Verdi Requiem, or whatever practice, but thinking back, it was a LOT worse than what Rob is doing there, sort of a wounded duck version of a drunk funky chicken. Fun to hear all the inside, chicken, moving W, etc. stuff. Didn't realize Austin arranged that one, he did a nice job with it.
If you are taking requests, that silly Christmas vid Home Free did where they invade the guy's house might be worth doing. That was BEYOND silly... "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer". One of my favorite parts was where the guy was holding the baby (or young child?) at the door who started clapping, and the father was kind of like "no, don't encourage them". Been a while, so probably got some of that wrong.
I'm not going to review any of the HF vids that I'm not in personally. :)

I'm enjoying getting your behind the scenes perspective. I was thinking for the scene where you and Adam are playing with the horses that perhaps those might have been Cerise's toys. I love everything Home Free, but with this one, I would have loved to see the majority of the focus be on Tim and his Bass voice lol
Chris... amazing one... why did you leave Home Free? I miss seeing you sing with the guys. You seem to be at peace with your decision but I am wondering anyway if you have any regrets or miss performing with them?
I had noticed the bigger chicken, but not the tiny one until now. Y'all had to be close to heatstroke in those jackets! I loved this video, still do, and also love hearing your backstories about the who, what's, and how's of the making of the song and video. Loved the ending to it btw. Really enjoying getting to know some behind the scenes stuff. Why was the part were you fell over after the heavy breathing part was cut out? That bit was hilarious lol.
Two things... 1) I really like your classic barbershop quartet ending to this song; and 2) Rob's little side-zip ankle cowboy boots are cute. Could he not fully commit to the whole C/W look? (I'm not mad at them, they simply stand out a bit against the rest of the group's boots, in a good way. Besides, it was a hot August day, and boots are physically HOT in 90 degree heat. I don't wear mine unless it's 70 degrees or cooler)

I love the barbershop ending. I have some questions about Home Free. I believe you are all great dancers; but which performer in your opinion has the least trouble learning the dance steps and choreography? I've read that Austin wanted to be a baseball player. Would you say that he is the most athletic of the group? If not, then who" Do you also beat box? And btw, you did an awesome job of carrying the bass line. I've always loved your voice. Thx for the in depth commentary and the behind the scenes look.

I'm gonna be honest here that I preferred HF's music more when you were in the band. The general vibe got a lot more serious after that or somehow it delta so very different.
Aww, thanks. Yeah, I agree the direction changed a lot, for better or worse. I brought more...silliness...to the group vibe.
I think the group has really matured over the years, they still have fun in their videos, but not all songs can have that silliness, some are going to be more serious, but they are still the same guys that we saw on the sing off, it was be great Chris if you rejoined
I love HF with Chris and with Chance! They are all fantastic singers! This pandemic has forced HF to bring back that creativity they use to have with Chris in the band and the fans are loving it. I hope they realize that is what the fans want and stick with it. I understand they want to grow and be more professional but I think they can do that without using actors and being more free. But no matter what, I will always love them! And you too, Chris!
I love watching these! It's nice to get a sort of behind the scene kinda thing. However, it does make me wonder which of the Home Free boys is the most...playful/goofy? Like who's the one who tries to make everyone else crack up?

no, not for butt remix...but we also used it for the Voiceplay collab on Survivor.
The Butts remix was filmed the same place, as the video for "Thinking out loud/ Let's get it on.

Appreciate the mention of Adam not being keen on a certain scene. Have always wondered at what point some of the silliness isn't embraced by everyone and/or not seen as benefiting the overall production (perhaps needing to be dialed back or omitted). Love HF's sense of humor but sometimes the antics seem a bit juvenile.
