    Ek het gegoogle en hulle die teels moet eers liggies met baie fyn skuurpapier geskuur word, my teels is baie glad en wou glad nie skuur nie is die stap nodig met tjoko, dankie

      @TjhokoPaint  2 роки тому

      Hi Melani, dis nie nodig om te skuur nie, maar deeglike afwas met Lacquer Thinners is sleutel tot sukses, selfs meer as een keer en wag dan vir thinners om deeglik te droog en te verdamp voordat die verfproses aanvang neem. Sou jy enige hulp benodig e-pos ons gerus by support@tjhokopaint.co.za en ons help met graagte.

    Hi - I have just tested Lorain’s cream on one spare tile and it came out beautifully - can I also do the tiles in the shower?

      Hi there, bathroom and kitchen wall tiles are absolutely perfect. We don't recommend painting tiles inside the shower area due to the high moisture content 🖌️

      Hi there, we don't recommend painting countertops. They are high traffic areas that requires considerable abrasive cleaning materials. It's not something we can guarantee the longevity of 🌷

    It's a very nice video but does the glaze prevent scratches of the paint from the tile or on the cupboard?

    Does the paint not come off when you wipe it with a wet cloth?
    Especially removing spill or sticky hand prints.

      @TjhokoPaint  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Tielanie, we also replied on your facebook question. Key to success is to ensure that the surface is properly washed off with lacquer Thinners. This removes any oiliness or greasiness and edges the surface tor Tjhoko to grip onto. If there are residues or oiliness on your surface Tjhoko (water based product) are unable to grip. Allow for the thinners to dry properly before painting commences (40 minutes more or less). We paint for clients daily and never had any issues. Cleaning key to success 🌷 The Glaze changes the matte finish (due to chalk composition) to a subtle satin finish. On darker colours we recommend to mix 1:1 (Glaze and cooled boiled water - the Glaze is in concentrated form) or also follow this ratio should you want less of a satin finish. For more of a satin finish 3:1 ratio can be followed. Damp Microfibre cloth works like a charm for the application. Our support email is support@tjhokopaint.co.za. We are always ready to assist🌷

    Hi. If my kitchen cupboards have been varnished, is it still enough to clean only with the thinners?

    • @TjhokoPaint
      @TjhokoPaint  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Barbara. Yes a proper wash with only Lacquer Thinners and repeat the process more than once to ensure that the cupboards have been properly cleaned. Important is not to use any other cleaning agents with the Lacquer Thinners as it may cause a chemical reaction. Another important tip is that the varnish on the surface needs to be older than 6 months. I am also including the FAQ section from our website with our support email address should you need anything else🌷How to paint
      Step 1 - Clean surface PROPERLY with Lacquer thinners ( we use Powerfix Lacquer thinners) wear gloves and work in a well ventilated space.
      Wait until the lacquer thinners is dry 20-40 minutes * I would then repeat the cleaning process again. (WE DON’t RECOMMEND TO PAINT ONTO A VARNISHED SURFACE IF THE SURFACE HAS BEEN VARNISHED WITHIN THE PAST 6 MONTHS. Varnish takes at least 6 months to cure. When painting onto an enamel surface - contact us at support@tjhokopaint.co.za to give the right advice.)
      Step 2 - Start painting. We recommend painting at least two coats. Very important when painting is to always allow a coat of paint to dry properly before the next coat of paint is applied. Depending on the colour being used a third coat would be necessary for example painting a white paint onto a darker surface.
      The equipment you use for painting also plays a role. A foam roller leaves a much thinner coat of paint than a paint brush. Therefore, more coats of paint would be required when working with a foam roller.
      The paint does have a matt finish (Tjhoko Paint is a self-sealing, water-based, matt chalk paint) it does not need a sealant unless you have the piece of furniture outside or in a room like the kitchen or bathroom where there is lots of moisture. The Glaze makes the surface water- and UV-Resistant. It also prevents stains and provides a more washable surface. We also recommend to seal tabletops and pedestal tops, kitchen and bathroom wall tiles (painting in showers not recommended).
      Step 3 - If you are applying the clear glaze, always allow the paint to dry for at least 4 hours before starting with the Glaze application. In coastal areas or during winter months we recommend to only start glazing the next day (leave paint to cure overnight)
      • Dilute the Clear Glaze with 30% water (30ml of water for every 100ml of Glaze) or 3 parts Clear Glaze and 1-part water. ( we recommend cooled boiled water as it is less contaminated)
      On darker Tjhoko colours we recommend 50/50 (1part Tjhoko Clear Glaze and 1part water. You can also use this ratio for a less sheen finish.
      • Dampen a clean, colourless cloth with water and squeeze to remove all excess moisture. A Microfibre cloth works best.
      • Dip the cloth completely in the mixture to absorb the mix and then squeeze to remove excess moisture.
      • Evenly wipe onto the painted surface. Work in a well-lit room to ensure that the entire surface is covered. If streakiness or lines occur - (it is caused by the fabric / cloth) just apply a second coat, half an hour later.
      Should you wish to paint over the Clear Glaze you can do so once it it has cured for an hour or longer eg should you wish to change colour or add paint techniques.

    is it not needed to put a primer on the laminated cupboards

    • @TjhokoPaint
      @TjhokoPaint  3 роки тому

      Hi Loretta. Thank you for your question.
      Tjhoko does not require a primer, however with painting cupboards it is crucial to ensure your surface is perfectly clean before painting. Just ensure the cupboards are cleaned with a clean rag or mutton cloth and laquer thinners - allow 40 minutes to dry fully, clean twice if needed and then you can paint. Below is a video that explains it all step by step.
