Frank is so cool and has a grove about the way he sings and Leslie does a great job keeping up because that is not an easy thing to do in singing a duet with Sinatra! it is done his way and you better keep up!
Superb! Sinatra plays fast and loose with the lyrics but what fun he is having - and Leslie is in heaven (and is heaven). And as dessert for this incredible swingin' duet, listen to Leslie talk about it in one of her Foundations interviews!
Vamos aos fatos: 1) Os "Velhos Olhos Azuis" começam com energia, mas burocraticamente; 2) 00:31 - Leslie ataca. Frank logo percebe que está em apuros... 3) 00:42 a 00:52 - Ele disfarça o nervosismo e pensa num jeito de virar esse jogo; 4) 1:00 - Frank começa a modificar o fraseado, enunciando a letra fora da batida da orquestra;
I saw it on TCM some years back. It's a little gem of a film shot on a shoestring, but Leslie and the rest of the cast put in memorable performances, likely much due to Mr. Davis.
This is 1977 so why didn't they touch throughout the whole song? Looks like a Mackie gown. He dressed Cher and Carol Burnett and so could do minimal and full. Don't know if it's his but looks like it.
Mitch Miller once said in an interview (here on UA-cam) as he first worked with Leslie, he got all sorts of nasty letters from people asking why did he have to touch and put his arm around her (because she was black). I'm willing to bet Frank never got such letters.
Frank Sinatra was able to take ordinary, run of the mill songs and turn them into gold like no one else ever has. I think even had the songwriting of the early to mid 20th Century not been so brilliant Sinatra's remarkable musical singing talent would still be seen as the epitome today. He was and remains the best of the best.
@@lakemichigan6598 , Ordinary run of the mill songs....The is nothing ordinary or run of the mill about the songs from the Great American songbook. Beautiful songs that have stood the test of time. Sinatra put them on the world wide map.
@@imonthebox1148 Not every song written before 1955 that Frank recorded was a beautifully written song - and yet he was able to make more of them than they were. This was one of his many marvelous musical gifts: The ability to turn coal into diamonds.
I’ve never seen this before. They make a great team. Fun-loving, with big voices, charismatic. Wonderful duet.
I saw Leslie Uggums sing at a charity benefit in L.A. She SHUT IT DOWN! One of the best Female vocalists of our time!!!!!
100% shes a very underrated performer in my eyes..shes up their with the best! no question !
Frank was very happy - Leslie nailed it on one take. Great together miss you Francis, RIP
This great song demands brilliant singers. Here are two. Fabulous.
Both of them can sing!

And she played around with the lyrics too - and you can see Frank was delighted with the results.
Leslie was and is a real beauty and talent!
The Chairman of the board! and Ms Uggams.
Doesn't get ANY better than this friend. Rest in Power Mr. Sinatra. Love you too Ms. Uggams.💖💖

Her smile is unmatched
👌Frank & Leslie ☆ Just curious. Isn't that a Bob Mackie dress she's wearing? It sure looks like it could be. Beautiful!
Yes it is. She did an interview and said he designed it for her.
That dress matches the backdrop perfectly. Certainly no accident!
Loving this
what a dynamite duet

Exatamente, Marcelo! Em 1977, Sinatra já estava com 62 anos, teve que suar para acompanhar a jovem Leslie, mas como sempre, ele se saiu muito bem.
Excelente descrição

In fairness, they probably knew eachother later when it was socially acceptable.
dynamite! Not sure if frank read the wrong verse on the cue card or went up on the next verse but ... They played!!!
Leslie Uggams plays the blind woman in Deadpool 2
She also played as blind girl in The Love Boat.

I came here because of blind Al
Where would Sinatra have been without the songs of Rodgers and Hart, Cole Porter, ect ect. ???????????????????????????????
