I don't do any other social media but this was just the video i was looking for. You ended on info about Before the Barbell and i think i finally found the thing that will make me join Instagram.
Hey Meg, Great video! Can you also tell a bit about arm placement on the bar. Where to put your hands and how I should place my elbows. Thnx. Keep doing the great work! 🏋🏽♀️
this was great! the cues make a lot of sense relative to my experience with both lifting and also yoga. It probably sounds nuts but breath cues and pelvic to rib cage alignment is a fundamental teaching in Hatha and probably other schools, too. I'd like to see barbell row next. I've been playing with hand positioning but also torso angle and gotten some unexpected results.
Watching in preparation for Week 3 Day 3 of Before the Barbell tomorrow morning🔥 Thank you so so much for creating & providing all this incredible information!
Perfect timing for me to catch this video and your before the barbell program. After several years off, and quite a few pounds gained, I'm ready to get back into it. I know that I need to start back at the beginning for my body to make sure i ease back into it. Thank you for this. Looking forward to starting.
I’ve been just holding my breath while squatting but a friend pointed out the benefit of actually pushing my stomach against my lifting belt. I did feel more stable but I hate how I look. I already have a big belly and using the pressure just makes my belly stick out more. I’m still going to do it to keep my lower back safe.
Thank you!!!! This video is pure Gold! Thank you so much!! I practiced everything and my flexibility was way better. Will incorporate this for now on. Can you do one on lunges? 🙏🏽
I've been with you and other great channels like Bret Contreras, mindpump and Krissy Cela for about a year or so starting with you. I find myself circling back to you now and have had such a hard time going from bodyweight and kettlebell to barbell squats and deads. Only deadlift I've figured out with a barbell is the hex bar. This video was great at telling me Its OK that I'm angled more forward in the barbell squat. I will implement these things and see. One thing I didn't listen to with my deadlift until recently was upgrading from bodyweight to kettlebell first. I just started doing it last month after giving up on DL altogether. Great tool that helped me get some type of DL in and am trying to progress to barbell now.
Wow I loved this in depth video. I automatically tend to hold my breath, but thought it was wrong so I tried to change that (until now obv). Lesson learned :)
Great video thanks Meg! Me and my knees aren't quite ready for the bar yet so this is very helpful! Could you do a similar video for deadlifting? How do I work up to deadlifting with the bar and small weights? I've tried but my back muscles become sore not my hamstrings/glutes and I don't want to injure myself, any advice?
i LOVED this video! so detailed and clear. I have 2 questions (if other viewers can help): I didn't understand what "breaking at the hips and knees" mean. what does "breaking" mean in this context? and second question, is there a difference if I use a Smith machine for the barbell squat? what are the advantages and inconvenients of using a Smith machine instead of just the barbell?
I am new to lifting and am following on Instagram. All your advice is helping me to learn. I have a trainer with me when I do it. I was able to do 2 plates last week. But I tried the belt and it was scary. It felt like my insides were going to pop. Is that normal?
My squat did get more comfortable and ankle mobility, etc did get better over time. Squat for me did not come easy :) Also lifter shoes may be a good option so you can be stable and still have heels a little lifted. Just a suggestion if you haven't already tried them. I like her stretches she showed too!
I find this helpful but I recorded myself doing some body weight squats and I’m leaning so far forward. I thought I was doing it wrong at the gym this morning I thought some people were looking at me funny.
I've always been told to not let your knees track over your toes to save your knees. I was just wondering why you do? Is it based on build of the person or is it for a specific target area? Or something else? If it is for your build how do you know?
I love my Do-Win shoes. They were about $100. Meanwhile, my Altra running/walking shoes were $140. So why wear your running shoes out weightlifting?! Use the right tool for the right job.
instead you could do a barbell front squat then :) just put the barbell on your shoulders. there’re a couple of good explantation videos here on youtube 😊
I have a weird question. Do you know anything about the risk of prolapse from lifting heavy among women? I have never given birth or anything but came across this info that heavy lifting may be a cause of prolapse among women. I hope it's not like that. I really like doing heavy squats and deadlifts 😢.

This is by far one of the most detailed, understandable, and beginner-friendly bb squat tutorial I’ve seen, plus I love your energy! 💗✨

Two minutes in and I’m already LOVING this video! Thank you so much for all the details! SUPER helpful!

Awesome. Each time I hear goblet squat, my mind says goblin squat and it makes me smile
You are a very good teacher,😊you make it so easy to understand ❤ thank you for your time
Great video can you do one for deadlifts too please
I appreciate this video! Thank you! I haven’t built up the courage to tackle the big bar yet. Hopefully soon! 🤞🏻

Well explained 👏 Thank you for making this to be able to share with friends who are beginners when I don't have energy to explain all the details
That postpartum snap back too real! Good sh*t! 🔥

Your hair looks so cute!
Thanks for the great way to improve on depth and excellent tutorial.

Meg, I finally did my first bar squat for the first time. I watched this video so many times but was too scared to try
This video was so helpful. And your body is goals ❤
Great video as always. Good info/cues even for a long time lifter. Nice refresher. Thanks
Wow I loved this in depth video. I automatically tend to hold my breath, but thought it was wrong so I tried to change that (until now obv). Lesson learned :)

Your bangs look great meg
I'm loving the hair 👌🏾
💜 amazing thank you so much
thanks bro
right now it works best if im more on the balls of my feet. when i put my heals down - everything gets wonky. maybe my feet will adjust over time.

Great Video. I love your workout top? Where is it from?

Do your thing Meg 🔥 💞

So to the point ❤ and I enjoy watching a beautiful lady like super model explaining things, hehe.
Great🥰
Bravo

Would doing squats help my hip if I get occasional pain? I think it’s arthritis, I’m 55, I can’t do step ups or I suffer
Beautiful.
It's not natural but the bar squat is righteous.
Should I avoid increasing abdominal pressure if I have a diastasis?
This is great but I cant use a barbell across my shoulders due to nerve issues in my neck :(
instead you could do a barbell front squat then :) just put the barbell on your shoulders. there’re a couple of good explantation videos here on youtube 😊
@@NandaGrows I cant have any weight resting on my shoulders or back.
The most my therapist says is to hold a plate near my chest.

Jeez I haven't watched your videos in a bit. Can tell you've cut body fat by your face and leg definition in tights lol. Crazy.
I squatted before goblet squats, and I think super high rep goblets still destroy the quads
Yep, nobody should stop doing goblets once they start barbell squats.
I also still do air squats. Waiting for the kettle to boil? Ad time on TV? Do a bunch of air squats or some stretches.
Because I'm right here Meg
please train your camera person.
I ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️The juicy Squat Mama
You're damn cute
i like your hair in a bun and love seein wearing leggings
