    The problem with transfers is both the permanence of ink, because moisture can damage and remove it and fading with natural UV light. I have exhibited images that show no sign of this after hanging on a wall for a considerable period of time. My method is to use two available art products that can be applied by spraying from the aerosol. Firstly a fixative, then when this has dried, a spray print varnish.

    I tried the 3rd technique using a sheet protector but it got jammed in my printer. I then tried sticking the sheet protector to a piece of copy paper across the ends but it still jammed. I used the heavier duty page protectors, they're a bit firmer so I thought it would work. Never mind, thanks for sharing anyway.

    • @stephaniek2913
      @stephaniek2913 2 роки тому +2

      I thought about that and would avoid this method to avoid jamming, but I did wonder if it would work better by inserting a stiff piece of copy paper or two inside so it would feed better (versus taping or gluing edges).

    • @NitsaCreativeStudio
      @NitsaCreativeStudio  2 роки тому +3

      I mentioned in my book but I forgot to mention it in the video, that for some printers its a good idea to insert a sheet of printer paper in the sheet protector to make it go smoothly through the printer. In your case, since you used a heavy duty one, maybe its a good idea to set your printer to heavy paper?

    Wow such great ideas. Like the first one as it is really inexpensive and works. The second one gets more expensive and I think it basically duplicates even more expensive transfer papers. So you save money with that one. The last one is indeed quick but I'm concerned about the possibility of ink getting inside the printer especially the paper tray. Have you experienced any spread of ink inside the printer or on the tray? Thanks for all of your hard work producing this video. Really appreciated.

    My husband's laser printer hasn't worked for any of the gel transfer techniques so I was hoping these inkjet ones would work. What type of ink does yours have? Is it pigment or dye? Mine is dye and doesn't seem to be working very well at all. The only technique I've found that works is by using Mod Podge and that's messy and doesn't always work well either. Though I'm very glad to have more ideas to try!

    • @NitsaCreativeStudio
      @NitsaCreativeStudio  2 роки тому

      I'm not completely sure but I think its also a dye ink printer. Its definitely a low end printer, so I hope this helps 👍

    • @SantaRosaGal
      @SantaRosaGal 2 роки тому

      @@NitsaCreativeStudio It's really important to be sure what type of ink your printer has. In my experience ONLY PIGMENT ink works for image transfer. DYE BASED ink is water soluble and will run. Low end Epson printers used to use Durabrite pigment ink, but their newer ones unfortunately use Clara dye based ink which is really disappointing. I have an old Epson C88+ which used pigment ink, but had to stop using it because it wasn't compatible with Windows 10.

    • @NitsaCreativeStudio
      @NitsaCreativeStudio  2 роки тому +7

      I do cut the tab off, so it fits into my printer, but I don't separate the 2 sides so the sheet protector is sturdy enough. You can also insert a printer paper inside to stabilize the sheet protector.

I had one question…are the ink jet transparencies you sprayed with the ColorMAXX reusable? If so, can you reuse after one spray application or do you have to recoat the transparency after each print? BTW, I bought your e-book years ago and it is really fun to put a face to the name after all these years!

    Perfect methods @Nitsa Creative Studio ............ I have a question .... will any of these methods work if I were to transfer the image onto glass or a mirror? Or will it only work on papers, wood and surfaces that are rougher than glass?

      They might work but probably not so great. Here is one way you can transfer to glass (or mirror): ua-cam.com/video/Kzr2cpYyymc/v-deo.html Thank you 🌼😘

      I haven't tried black granite stone and I'm not sure this transfer will quite work on black surface. Let me know if you are successful.
