    Being a retired LE instructor, armorer, & long gun shooter, we were trained and required to do yard estimations back in the day before rangefinders. Obviously, as ranges lengthen, it gets tougher & tougher. Plus, if you don't do it everyday, it gets more difficult. After last years hunt and overestimating the distance on a buck, I finally broke down and bit the bullet and just bought the Crossfire HD they're showcasing here. Btw, I did get the buck, just hit a bit high........I was off about 50 yds guessing at 400 on a rolling field.....he was 345. I love the podcasts and enjoy the banter......Ryan is a vast wealth of knowledge.......impressive.

    The viper with the cr123 battery made the choice easy.

    @6:22 "I can't help but feel I brought this on us... I said the shoes. I was trying to be funny." Had me DYING over here. Love y'all's comedy podcast that also taught me about rangefinders.

    The new display, optics, and readout speeds are a fantastic upgrade over the previous models. Value packed units for sure

    I really like the concept of renaming the new lineup. So it fits with the Scopes / Bino names. Your right, people that run a Crossfire, Diamond Back, Viper or Razor will automatically choose what they already run. I know that's what I would do.
    I just upgraded to the Razor HD4000 a few weeks ago. From the Ranger. I'm blown away with quality and performance.
    Thank you Vortex for producing great products. And for having multiple devices for everyone to choose from.

      After watching the entire Podcast now. I really wish the Viper HD3000 was available a few weeks ago when I bought the HD4000. It seems perfect. The Battery and Case is what I'm Jelly about.

    Shoe analogy totally works. Different features. Dance shoes, cycling shoes, soccer cleats, running shoes, cowboy boots, hiking boots, mountain boots, rain boots etc.

    I have the old 1800. Love the red display. I just wish there was a separate button to adjust the display brightness without going through the menu.

    I had the Ranger 1300 . gone MIA. So, I just got the Crossfilre HD 1400. For my hunting, I will need more. Especially needing the last mode because I am hunting through thick vegetation on public land.

    I just got the crossfire hd 1400 and it's amazing for the money it's pretty dead on to advertisements and the glass is so good and the eye relief is amazing I can use it with my glasses still on all in all so far worth every penny

    All I need now to do a full switch vortex is a Spotting scope in the viper $$ range with an etched reticle like a Horus 32 for spotting and giving second round impact feed back.

    • @VortexNation
      @VortexNation  2 роки тому +1

      We do have a reticle eyepiece for the Viper 20-60x85 spotting scopes!

    • @JustinJFilson
      @JustinJFilson 2 роки тому

      @@VortexNation yeah found that on the site today. I'm looking for a spotting scope like Bushnell's Elite 8-40 because it has the big box of marks for giving super accurate feed back. I would buy one but I have a VIPER PST GEN II 5x25 FFP and I like your glass better. Hopefully one day I can have matching spotting scope with the reticle I'm looking for. After this I'm defiantly ordering the new Viper Range finder!

    Guys, you have got to update the webpage. I went there to get more info and you still have the old rangefinders listed. I really want to get more info on the Viper.

    Debating between the new Viper and the Razor for the rangefinder. They seem pretty comparable. Is the $200 that different for 200 yards more of deer target? Is the Razor better glass and computing ability?

    Main question I have is can these do other units like meters? Someone handed me a Vortex rangefinder to take with me once to try out. I pulled it once when needed and was like wtf is yds. I don’t use yards. Also not in USA. I looked for a quick way to switch units, didn’t figure it out in the few seconds I had.

      I just upgraded to the Razor HD4000. It is incredible. I got is 3 weeks ago. Before they dropped the new lineup. I'm sure the Viper HD3000 is just as good. They look to be built on the same platform/Design

    I hunt in northface boots. More like hiking shoes. In arkansas they perform well. I also don't need a range finder here. Just an overbore and hungry eyes.

    Is there any danger looking into the laser directly? I'm thinking kids looking into it directly. I know it's invisible and all but it's still on the electromagnetic spectrum.
