Hi everyone! This video is a long one but I show every edition of the Bohemian Gothic Tarot. Towards the end of the video I do a side by side comparison. For something more in-depth, let me know!
Question, I'm trying to tell from the video are the title bar bands on the bottom all the same? The earliest ones look plain black background and the newest it's floral. Hoping that makes sense 😅 thanks for the info.
I actually really like the 4th edition. For me, the 3rd edition is my favorite and I have been trying to get a decent priced one forever. I like the foiling. The way it comes across to me is like spooky lightening strikes in a graveyard.
I'm so glad that I'm not the only one who thinks that they put the foil stamping in all the wrong places on the new decks, it kind of makes the images look dull to me. And the purple backs look more out of place in real life than I imagined they would. Don't get me wrong I'm glad that I bought the LE deck but I think the foiling lets it down. Thanks for showing all the editions, it was very interesting to see them side by side. That silver edition is definitely the best for my tastes. I hate to say it but I'm a little disappointed with the new deck, I think they missed a great opportunity for the Bohemian Gothic to go out on a high
They have just released some stock of the limited edition and I am so tempted. I only own the standard 4th edition. It is like heartache, but I am also getting a couple of their other decks and the purse is screaming in pain. Not sure if I will feel bad for not picking up the Limited Edition when I could have...
I hesitated and now it is gone.. I think there is still some left for another round but I am still not sure as I am picking up their other re-prints at the end of this month@@rachelstarotreads
Woo! Just found a 2nd Edition with pewter edges on ebay at a reasonable price 🎉❤ so excited to add to my collection! Come on 1st edition or silver deals 😅
Gee, im so glad you did this. I hated the foiling the moment i opened them. And i hate that clunky box! Who needs it. The mini is actually much better, although i did a comparison of each card and the larger had some extra things in some scenes. The foiling ruins the balance of light and shadows in the cards, which is the beauty of this deck. Not worth the 98 bucks. Hate paying for a dumb box. Going back to my mini.
I’m holding the new deck in my hands and I’m wondering wtf is going on with the foiling. On every image the foiling is on the shadow parts of clothing etc instead of the parts that are reflecting light. I don’t enjoy that at all. What were they thinking?
I’ve gone back and looked at my other Baba decks. The foiling is also on the shadow parts - I think because they are coloured? But somehow it’s WAY more obvious in this dark, shadowy deck that really would benefit from the contrast of light. How I would love to see the Silver version in person!
I got the standard edition of the 4th edition after much back-and-forth and absolutely HATE the sh*tty way the cards are cut out. Mine seem almost „feathered“ in some places around the edges straight out of the box, exposing the white interior of the cardstock. For this price point, I’d rather have gilding. I also agree the cold foiling is way over the top and pretty grainy. I own a book with a cold foiled cover which is done SO much better.
I love the queen of wands in the 1st edition. Silver may be my favorite. I don't have any editions yet, my 4th hasn't mailed out to me yet. I'm really excited!!!!
I think the 3rd edition is the one I have! I was so tempted to get the 4th Edition but I talked myself out of it lol but now watching your video and seeing how different the new one is I just ordered it!
That's what I love! EBay finds when people have no idea what they have. My first edition of Mary el was priced at the second edition price . along with so many others. I get people saying "oh how can u expect to get deals, that's how u get knock offs and blah" no no you have to know your shit lol
The mini came out around the same time at the 3rd edition. They are the same printing, just smaller 😊 And Baba loves to tweak small things like faces with each edition. The Moon did indeed get a face lift in the 2nd edition 😂 (also the Queen of Swords). And the girl in the 2 of cups has changed between all 4 editions as well. I have the silver edition too and it is definitely my favorite. Just like the gold editions of Victorian Romantic and Bohemian Cats, it highlights areas rather than obscures them like the cold foil stamping does. I felt like the cold foil worked for some of the earlier decks like Mythical Creatures, but I have not enjoyed it in recent releases. Too bad.
I just got my 4th edition and wondered if I received a misprinted deck! The foil made things look weird in my eyes that I had to try different light sources. I used to own the 2nd edition and I was obsessed with it. It was so beautiful. Thanks for this video, at least now I know that its supposed to look that way. As for the LE, when I saw the purple backs, it turned me off, so I didn’t purchase it.
@@rachelstarotreads yeah. It was the TOWER card that made me question if I was seeing things right. 9 of swords, I wasnt a fan of. Maybe I'm getting color blind but I wish that the Page of Wands and Ace of Swords had more green in the leaves. The rest of the cards looked great!
@@rachelstarotreads I'm hoping to collect the others too. You're right on point these are the lightest of the bunch, I love how dark the older ones are. I also can't use this box LOL I get they want it to be their "thing" now but it's not practically, I love it as a collectors item but I can't keep cards in there 🤷🏻♀️
Thanks for sharing your lovely collection of the various editions. I don’t have any of the others so since the 4th edition will be my first, and I’m not interested in getting the others, I’m eagerly awaiting my very own deck and I know I will adore it; already do, even after watching a few walkthroughs of it … and since I won’t have anything to compare it to personally on hand, that’s a bonus as well. ;) All that said, the Silver Edition really is gorgeous. Enjoy! Blessed Be.

@@rachelar6the older editions have a floral design to the titles as well. They’re a dark blue. ☺️

I really like your comment! Although I didn't like the foil, you have a good perspective!

Right?! It was disappointing and I wish they would’ve reconsidered that. I still enjoy the cards but the 4th edition is probably my least favorite. 😵
Loved this video! I have the 3rd edition and the 4th edition. I loved your silver one. ❤
Thank youuuu! 🥰❤️

Going back to my mini.

Same! I thought I received a misprinted deck!
Totally agree. I feel like they foiled all of the wrong parts of the images. It’s frustrating.

12:49 husband is legit like “ girl, I’m trying to sleep, just buy whatever”. 💤😴🤣
He totally was!!! Hahaha best time to ask him for things. 😆

The 3rd edition is very well done, it’s got the best details with the clean imagery.

I truly feel like those rare finds at amazing prices are meant to be finds. 🤭🤭🤭
