Drumming for Trivium has got to be one of the best gigs in metal. The riffs and songs those guys write are incredible and there's so much juicy stuff to play with.
None of their previous drummers have been great live. Alex has finally taken them to where they've always needed to be, live show wise. I absolutely adore the studio stuff, but have always struggled to get into it live. NO MORE!
Travis Smith was pretty damn good live imo, but they just played way too fast back then. Their next few drummers struggled when the rest of the band decided to actually take tempos seriously. Alex is definitely the best player of all of them though, thats for sure
@@andre8273 i think Matt had trouble with the more technical stuff (i think I remember kirisute gomen being one of those songs), but yea overall i really did like him
Alex is my favorite metal drummer of today, and damn near my old school favorites Pete Sandoval and Dave Lombardo. This guy uses drums so tastefully, and he's an absolute speed-demon when the song calls for it. His work on their latest album is RIDICULOUS!
The Sin and The Sentence was one of the first vinyl albums I bought since it is such a great album all the way through. Beyond Oblivion is my favorite of the playthroughs.
Interesting that no one is mentioning where Alex originally came from. He used to play in a technical death metal band calles "Arkaik" if you are interested in his earlier work.
Well no, None of Trivium's ex-drummers are now dead. They've had 5 drums: (Backwards*) Alex Bent, Paul Wadke, Mat Madiro, Nick Augusto and Travis. Alex and Nick are 100% Trivium's best drummers. Nick saved the band with 'In Waves' after Travis situation happened, And Alex has now helped massively to elevate the band to a bigger/better/more technical level. Alex is fantastic for Trivium.
@@megadeth8592 Well to each is own HOWEVER the 6 time si saw them live with him, he was fantastic, tight with the band and a powerhouse. Coulda just been having a bad night or whatever. we dunno what goes on behind the curtain, ya know. - He definitely helped/saved Trivium though. They even admitted that too.
@@megadeth8592 that's why he's no longer with them. Travis will never be beaten for me, regardless of why he left but Alex is undeniably a great drummer!
Weird of you to talk about burying your beaters and your stanky foot; was listening to your pod with Mr Searle while driving earlier. This dude slays for days. Love them splashies.
I didn't even realize you were playing with Spiritbox and Uderoath next week here in North Carolina..I don't have the money till next week so I was going to have a friend front me and then went we went to buy them they were sold out less than 12 hours later after seeing the gen admissions. I am super sad. I was hoping to meet you and finally get to see Stray play. OH well maybe next time.
Had the pleasure of sharing the stage with him several years ago when he played for Arkaik. His fro back then was great fun to watch spin while he played haha
Well, I never got into Trivium, didn't really enjoy and not very memorable songs for me, although I can recognize the talent behind it. But because of this reaction, this song is on repeat since yesterday. Anyone got any recommendations of songs that sounds like this on their discography?
@@avnc10 actually, I think there is none. I don't exactly know what made you dislike their songs but I really can recommend the last 3 albums, especially TSATS and ITCOTD. These 2 are a great combination of all things they have ever done and imo the best of their discography.
YESSSSSSS I remember commenting on a random old video of yours saying I hope you watch an Alex Bent video, I'm suuuuuper excited to see this one edit: 7:20 lmao fuck yeah
Pretty sure yes. My sister is an esthetician and her, my mother, girlfriend all have micro bladed brows so I kinda have an eye for it. Not hating. I’ll probably do it myself one day, my brows suck and my sister will hook it up.
Where are you from? There are like 3 you tubers I follow that have an extremely similar regional accent, sense of humor and the same tendency to waffle on. I wonder if you're all from the same place lol
my favourite thing about mr bent is that he does everything while looking like he just learnt a family member died

You got to get Alex on the podcast. He’d be a great interview

Mat Madiro was great live, just not creative at all in the studio

Saw them live a few months back in Rogers AR. Didnt disappoint. They were on the megadeth tour. Great concert
Alex Bent...the BEST drummer for both Trivium and in modern metal IMO, super original and a beast with those limbs of his.
THANK YOU FOR THIS! BEEN WAITING FOR THIS SINCE I DISCOVERED YOUR CHANNEL.
You got to do his playthrough of sever the hand aswell, some nasty fills on that one

Nick was one of their sloppiest drummers..... Dude was all over the place timewise.... Wouldn't really call him one of the best....

Seen them live over 10 times and 3 times with Alex. He really does add something and totally brings it to the table live. Solid ass band!
every upload of yours makes my week easier 💗💗
'That high hat looks like it was set up for someone else' 🤣
Watch his shit with arkaik. These drums are like the sweater song from Weezer compared to arkaik
Love Trivium, and love the vid, Craig. I've been listening to SFTP for a couple years and somehow never realized you were in that band lol
There is a something about Alex that reminds me of Gene Hoglan! That ambidextrous touch - so damn nice to see!
yea I got huge hoglan vibes too.
He even got a fill in for Hoglan in Testament once!
Dude you should watch / react to his Arkaik videos. They are ridiculous. Trivium is a step down from what he can do.
I'm stopping by to have my face melted by talent. *Success*
“His hihat looks like it’s set up for someone else” LOL!!! Thought it was wild how far over to the left it is😂
My man’s hi hat is so far away he has to play with his arms folded.
Love the "Live laugh subscribe" Just need a few butterflies in the opposite corner for extra pazazz!

"I'm probably drunk" It's 3 pm.
The best part of this video was the drums and Craig reacting to the drums.
His parts on the new album sound super hard.

He litereally looks like he is just driving along the highway, just like, WHATEVER.
Was just wondering if there's going to be a george kollias video someday?!
oh man, you haven't checked out beyond oblivion and the sin and the sentence. Alex Bent is have fkin monster
Craig! Yes!
The bell sounds insane!!
His work with arkaik was epic.
Funny puff reviews metal drums

Alex Bent is phenomenal
his stuff in arkaik was good too
I used to think this guy was the pinnacle of metal drumming. Then Eugene Ryabchenko entered the chat
Eugene is sick! I watched his tutorial videos before he became the drummer of Flesh God.
Need to listen to the drums in Crisis of Revelation. Unreal drum track
Bent is such a talent!
Alex is NUTS! I wonder what Travis is up to lately. Shogun remains one of my favorite albums by them, HOWEVER, their new stuff is sick
It's all kicking off in Ukraine and Zelenskyy still has time to do a drum playthrough
🤣🤣🤣
Bent is a monster. Love me some Trivium.
Ya know I wanna was the way you got me a lot and you were just gonna was a great man!🔥
Alex is a personal friend of mine and a genuinely fantastic human being

natty or not for Spencer Prewett from Archspire, He's a freak of nature
The shit this dude played on brain drill and arkaik, Jesus Christ, he's just not showing what hes actually capable of.
He was the live drummer for Decrepit Birth too for awhile, sick drummer
@@acidrain812 And Battlecross. He also filled in for Gene in Testament.

He made trivium a better band. Great player.
I actually dont like this guy, prefer Travis smith to him.
Then you are probar deaf or something...
I didnt even know who trivium was and last year a friend invited me to front stage tickets to see them open for megadeth, fkn unreal
