I completely agree with your take and the video as a whole but I feel like sokkas reaction was harshly authentic cause his personality despite being light hearted gets serious whenever he feels there's a threat to what he holds dear. Despite knowing the threat was not purposeful I'd react like Sokka to fully negate aang, cause I have to make sure there's no more risk to my sister. Even though he is my friend, he is under no controle so I have to get him to withdraw so that he can account for his reckless action.

Now when you say it I do agree. Just believe since sokka is a quip machine this episode it feels a little from one end to the other so it’s almost a little whiplash.

I think the main point of the episode is to provide clarity on Aangs maturity into perspective.
Yes Aang does have some discipline for learning Air and is pretty much spiritually atune.
But Aangs lacks character, will and determination.
Aang is a free spirit, but because of it he is reckless.
Aang also is very much non-confrontational and afraid of consequences, running away from situations that make him uncomfortable even if he is the cause of it.
Which is very dangerous for someone who can bend fire which as John John said Fire is alive, the rock won't move itself and the water won't flow upstream without a bender
But fire will keep burning as long as there is fuel even if the bender is long gone.
Only reason John John accept to train Aang was because of Roku's impatience.
Aang harming Katara made it realice how dangerous Fire actually is.
    And how unprepared he is
His choice of not learning fire is also Aang running away.
John john accomplished his thematic goal.
    In teaching humility

Interesting point, his tendency to run away from situations is definitely a factor I hadn’t really considered. I still wish the fear of firebending had more consequences in the greater story. This episode feels very contained and just unimportant imo

@@PickaBlueV2 it does carry a lot specially later in thr season.
One does not particularly sees it as Aang is more focused in learning water later in that season.
It isn't until Toph teaches Aang to confront his problems instead of running away where one can actually see what Yeung Yeung meant.
Toph more than teaching Aang earth bending, she help sculping Aangs character.
It is only after he learns what it means to be an Earthbender that Aang was ready to take charge and will to confront fire.
He was still too timid with it due to the harm he did to Katara.
Also you can still see the difference in mindset between Zuko and Aang
In the episode of thr Dragons Aang was more than satisfied with a little piece of knowledge but Zuko had the will to follow through even after knowing his predecessor were the cause of almost extinction of the Dragon aka taking ownership and responsibility where Aang got scared when thr Sun warrior told Aang his is thr reason thr world ended in chaos and also lead to the extinction of the dragons and he wanted to leave
For fire you need WILL to take charge.

@@kevinsantos5050 The point that aang wasn´t ready for fire is something i completely agree with. Toph really tought aang to stand his ground, yet i still believe that wouldn´ve been true and as effective without jeong jeong´s teachings in this episode

Side characters usually don't get fleshed out much.

Definitely, maybe I was a little harsh but there is potential so it kinda feels a little wasted imo

Pro tip: right down your thoughts and think about how you want to formulate them. Practice read them and then hit record

I do in fact write it down and practice but since English is my third language it’s a little difficult. I do appreciate you bringing it up tho and I’ll focus extra on formulating myself better in the future :)
