    I have been watching every video I can find on Sirius yachts. The deck salon and 'height where you need it and not where you don't' design philosophy is very intriguing to me. I grew up day sailing on a Newport 28 in the Chesapeake and later Lake Michigan; no one wanted to be below deck under weigh. Since that time I deployed aboard a few carriers and usns in the Pacific. I've been landlocked since 2016... I have been dreaming about a 35DS with the bilge keels and bumming around the tropics.

      ;-) ...I might be a bit biased, but I do always wonder who would build ...or buy ...or even rent a holiday cottage …..overlooking a nice lake .................. with no windows???
      ...and you do get the funniest blank looks if you try to tell a random not-sailor that the special thing on this boat is - that you can actually look out of it - if you are inside - ? -
      ...I do have the same dream like you!!!! maybe sometime -

      @@SiriusYachts it's amazing it's like 30 years of evolution on the colvic countess wheelhouse bilge keel or a moody 35. There the 2 boats I'm looking at hopefully buying. This is the one I dream of.
      Only a twin keel is truly go anywhere.

I have heard, that Brazil seems to have very striced rules on exporting sailing yachts? Otherwise our boats are available all around the world and been sold to 28 different countries by now. We like to work directly with all our customers as we think this is to your best benefit: a. we like to build a live long relationship with our customers; b. we know our boats and many versions and possibilities best, c. you spare a lot of money for the dealership, and d. we are the most competent partner for all your questions and service requirements. Sirius should call her their Tardis model. Amazing design which activates my "everything on its place" gene.

    • @SiriusYachts
      @SiriusYachts 4 роки тому +8

      "Tardis" makes me smile! It is one of the "very British terms" I had to learn at my first UK boat shows. At the Southampton boat show in 2010 I had a real problem when displaying the 310 on her world premiere. There was a Yachting monthly test of our Sirius 35 DS just out, very prominently asking on the title page of the boat show issue of the magazine: "Is this the best boat ever built" and giving us the "...highest score we’ve ever awarded, by some distance". Nearly everybody coming out of the 310 DS on display at the show commented on how unbelievable the space was, we got into this 35 feet boat. After a while it got "kind of tiring" ;-) to point out to all this visitors, that this was the 310 they just have seen and not a 35 ;-)...when searching for a name of our first ever build 40 DS, "Tardis" was ranking high but was advised to us as too "smalish-boxy" and so "Bright Star" won...

    Just discovered your channel! Nice video. Seeing that you are in the unique position to sail many different monohull yacht makes and models, have you ever thought about doing a separate video rating each yacht on: design, performance/handling, comfort, build quality? I think a lot of viewers would find your observations/insights to be of value... And this would attract more viewers/subscribers to your channel. Just a thought.

      Yes, this was indeed dissapointing. Even if there is some laminate visible which is not from the Sirius building process, I would still state: it´s safe to say that it was not up for the job! The 45mm fully laminated block where the bolts sit in was for sure, but the bonding in place and glassing in obviously wasn´t. We have been in direct telephone and mail contact with the crew and owner to assist after it happened. The delivery crew has handled it expertly and excided our and the owners expectations. Thanks to them I am sure it´s better than new now. This said: These yachts were especially developed for blue water cruising and rough weather conditions, and always have been! There have been an number of curcumin-navigations on older yachts even - some additional ocean crossings. Recently a 40 DS was collected by the owners in Germany and sailed straight back to Vancouver via Canary islands, Caribbean, Panama Canal, Galapagos, Micronesia, Hawaii and it is the first case like this ever happened. This very yacht had covered 6 years of sailing in 7 countries before this happened…

    Your delivery voyage videos are getting much better as you have introduced some of the story. What did you and the crew think of the boat in terms of its sailing characteristics? I think the concept and design is remarkable and they are easy to judge, sailing characteristics less so but would be interested in your view.
    Was the auto-pilot an after market fit or OEM from Sirius? Was this an equipment issue - either too much ‘stiction’ in the steering gear, too much force being generated by the auto-pilot, limit switches set incorrectly - or just an inadequate attachment/bonding to structure.(Sirius Werft ? 😉)
