I think most people are excited for Ashes of Creation, because it's clearly more than likely going to release. The devs are not sitting around the table roleplaying & posting their cool ideas online as if it's an actual system they've been working on. The systems actually exist & most importanly, AoC is the closest thing we'll probably ever get to what CoE should've been. The node system is eerily close to the Kingdom system of CoE, but slightly different & I think that's what most people were excited for in CoE.
So this video got TOTALLY out of hand. Researching it was CRAZY. I mean, the amount of crazy stuff that's happened I couldn't include in the video. I'm going to retake each of these sections in the future.
CU has an release date 2025 now. So let's see if it go the Crowfall way. ^^ there would also be Everquest Next for the list. Ashes also had an BR with in game shop, many have forgotten this now. ^^' no Star citizen? thx for the vid anyway.
This video was pretty fascinating to me and I’m not even in the gaming space. The amount of time and money spent on some of these flops is mind boggling. Great video. DiBrava
When it comes to AOC I am more willing to try a game for $15 than to pay $70 for a game just to try it, if the game is good enough to hold my attention for 5 months which would cost $75 then paying a monthly fee after that would be fine with me.
To be a little pedantic, ashes was kickstarted in 2017 and is going into it's second alpha later this year. I agree that it has gotten a lot of hype from UA-camrs but before that, it was one of the highest-funded MMOs on Kickstarter so it's not like there weren't a lot of people excited about it before the big names found it. Nodes grow into player-owned/run towns and cities so to reduce them down to quest hubs is kind of silly in my eyes. A lot of the systems are inspired by games like Lineage 2 and archeage, not the western MMOs. Not saying it will succeed or even if it does, it will be a MMO you enjoy, but I feel like you don't understand what they are trying to do with the game's systems and why some are excited for them. It's going to be different from a lot of the western PVE MMOs we have had so it's understandable that many don't understand what to expect.
Years ago camelot unchained had a twitch stream and i ask what was up with the updates, Mark Jacobs replied by reading out my twitch name and saying "your mother must be really proud of you". That story is 100% true, and I never checked in with the game updates after that.
I could never jump into the mmorpg genre due to not having a pc growing up. Played ESO when it went to console. Im currently backing Ashes and I'm PRAYING that the first mmo I decided to back and also one that I can play from day 1 launch isnt a scam. Also it isnt going to beta, its going to second phase of alpha
I agree that Ashes of Creation will struggle with having a subscription, it just depends on the price IMO but your point about "it doesn't look very good" because its combining systems from multiple other MMO's is pretty stupid as MMO's have always taken systems from other games and implemented them in their game. Ashes of Creation actually looks great for an ALPHA as it has many systems working in game that they showcased over the years, although they look jank at times it will get polished. If you stop zoning in so hard on the recent update videos that they post and get a birds eye view of the project, you will understand that all the systems that they previously spotlighted could be in the upcoming ALPHA 2 working together in game, like the character customization, classes, combat, building, mining, gathering, farming, dungeons, world bosses, caravan system, sieges from Alpha 1 and many others showcased over the years. If it's true & all of those systems are present in A2 but not polished then AoC has a good depth of systems that can sustain a player base and all they need to add AFTER polishing the mechanics/animations of everything is quest/main story content, which they've probably been working on outside of game before development of the game even begun, well I hope they did at least. All that before BETA testing is a great sign in my opinion.
DONT SUPPORT an mmorpg kickstarter ever it will NEVER work or even come close to your expectations and you will wait 20 years for its release if you are lucky to live by then.
I was stupid enough to back... Shroud of the Avatar = turd Legends of Aria = turd Camelot Unchained = turd I learnt my lesson a little too late but I'll never touch crowd funding again.
I enjoyed the video. I think there are lots of youtubers that are not hyping but just excited. I'm following Ashes and I have hopes but have been burned before :)
Making an MMO is roughly as hard and expensive as building a mega yacht. It's not surprising so many fail before finding out their boat is too big to sail out of the port.
I'm definitely holding back from the hype on Ashes of Creation. The amount it's promising is ridiculous and I've seen so many MMOs promise the world over the years. I know it's still early but the combat and UI don't look great either, but those are things I'd want to showcase as a dev and so far they just talk about all the hype features in the game. I know UI design isn't sexy and doesn't draw big number on UA-cam.
Yeah, more or less my thoughts. It's going to be really hard to tell how it will play out until there's enough data to see how the actual game plays. You have literally the best youtube name I've seen on a commenter on my channel. Love it.
Again, this is a very factually inaccurate video regarding Pantheon. Rather telling how proud you are about giving factually inaccurate information about a game is nothing like what you say. The game is now open to all backers to play and the overall feedback by everyone who I played with IN Game has been extremely positive. I don’t know why you’ve targeted that game to be so shamefully smearing of. It’s just a horrible and ugly character trait to have. This entire video has no merit and does nothing to help the community only a gimmick to put a few pennies in a desperate man pockets.
Well, it's not open to all backers yet, but the lowest level pledges will finally be getting a chance in game soon if nothing goes wrong. But yeah, most vip and champion pledges that tried it have enjoyed it.
I really enjoy your videos, but I find the copium you express about your predictions for Pantheon somewhat irritating. The game doesn't exactly fit the survival extraction genre you mention. As someone who's participating in the alpha test, I can say it feels more like a typical EverQuest clone-not great, but nothing unexpected in this category. However, your enthusiasm and pride over a forecast that doesn't align with the current alpha gameplay-which you haven't seen, but I have as a backer-seems misplaced.
Dude did you miss the bit where they tried to turn it into an extraction based game? I'm literally quoting the devs, check my video on it where I read the whole blogg - not making stuff up. It's not my fault they backtracked on the idea after huge blow back.
@@oldmanbanjo To be fair it was a few month ago and old "news" to implement into this video, as you already have made a video about it - It would have been nicer and more entertainment to see you show a more recent gameplay fotage and talked about where they are at now. Yeah i get it, it have taking ages for them to get them to where they are today development since ~January 2014, but at least i think they have explained the why, pretty good. And also one "have" to take in consideration that it is a pretty small team compared..
The extraction MODE was a testing MODE so that they could direct testers into particular areas of the map and give them a reason to be there. It absolutely was NOT a product. It was NEVER going to be SOLD, and it was only temporary and never intended to be part of pantheon, nor a replacement for pantheon….

I think the worst for me was Shroud of Avatar - but it's basically proven Lord British can't make a modern game.

Thanks dude, I'm glad.
Bro, i love this videos. Deserve much more views and subs, keep this up!
Aww thanks dude, sorry sent you a comment that was meant for another commentor on my Everquest video. Glad to hear you enjoyed it.
What about the smaller MMO projects like Veloren?
I fully expect the next big MMO to come out of that sort of a team
What do other folks think?
Making an MMO is roughly as hard and expensive as building a mega yacht. It's not surprising so many fail before finding out their boat is too big to sail out of the port.
Idk why you put AoC in the same tab bcs aoc is way above and already doing last test before release alpha 2 beta and release sometime 2026!
I'm staking my arm on ashes of creation(hopefully it actually launches 😢)
I really wanted to love SotA, but the magic just isn't there.
I'm done with Kickstarters for good. My money is going to finished games from reputable studios like Larian Studios..

great video I am personally waiting for Bazgrim to bash Pantheon rise of the farten
Pantheon: fall of the fallen.
Bazgrim has been as quiet as a church rodent. I think he's one of those "if you don't have something nice to say, say nothing at all" people.
I'm waiting for AoC A2 to flop like A1 did, and for all of the idiot fan boys to stuff their loud mouths with some humble pie.
New World has no player base, because it sucks, no other reason.
