Instead of a slow cooker I would recommend a turkey roaster. It’s 22 quarts and it makes large canning projects a breeze. I make my bone broth, applesauce and tomato products in it. It also makes an amazing turkey. Plus you can use your instant pot as a slow cooker.
@tracyg4783 I have a show cooker in that size range and never thought to use it for all these uses! I only cooked food in it for parties... such a great idea. Thanks
Wow! Watching all the clips from previous videos, you’ve lost a lot of weight!! You go girl!!! You are an inspiration! I no longer have any actual slow cookers, I replaced them all with three instant pots!! The instant pots work, wonderfully as slow cookers, as well as all of the other functions that they have!!
Talk attachments please. I love my flaker for my Ankarsrum mixer. My apple peeler/ corer for the Kitchenaid ( only reason my KA is still here she’s semi retired attachment usage only) oh, my dehydrator, love that thing! Actually have two and there’s only two of us in this house but dried apples are favorite here can’t get by with just one in apple season, also garden season they run a lot then so we can enjoy wonderful soups in winter dried carrots are super good and so easy to do. Oh another little thing I didnt know I needed till I got one is a simple fish spatula! Yep, not for just fish we find we are using it for eggs and other things too. Great simple little tool in the kitchen.
I have a both a 6 quart Hamilton beach and a 7 quart black and decker slowcooker. They both have travel clips and are programmable. I love them both & they were very affordable.
So I’m wondering why you don’t use your 8 quart instant pot as your slow cooker because it has that feature. But if you’re looking for another one, that is absolutely incredible. Get the instant pot Dutch oven. Oh my God it’s wonderful. It’s sauté the meat so it’s nice and brown and the onions and then you throw in your water or whatever else you’re gonna put in it and turn it on slow cook and let it sit there all day if you want to. Or you can put it on high or medium it goes up to 400 or 450° all the way down to something like 80. You can even put your bread in it if you want to use it as a Proofer.
@@aprilstutzman9231 I agree. I just wish they would make it in an eight and a 10 quart. It is nice that it’s wider and lower so you can fit a whole chicken and things that you couldn’t easily fit in your instant pot unless you turned them upright. But I still wish it was a couple quarts bigger
I just got the Green Life slow cooker. not sure they have a large enough one for you. Everyone has their own needs and concerns. I got it because their pan is coated with ceramic, a non-toxic alternative to the others who use a non-stick with the chemicals PFAS in them. It is a great value and surprisingly lightweight. I was concerned about that but so far it cooks very well. I can put the pan on the stove to brown, then into the cooker and then, into the oven if I need. check it out.
I highly recommend 360 cookware…their slow cooker is different, but amazing! It’s made in the USA and it’s stainless steel 😍 it can cook things rather quickly or slowly, can keep things warm for hours and heat things up too.
I’m sitting here thinking…..and that…..and that….and that……I think I might have too many kitchen gadgets 🤷♀️ Food dehydrators are also a must for me !
I am not a fan of slow cookers. I have them but don't use them. Here's why. I prefer to sear my meat before adding to the slow cooker so it's just as easy for me to use a Dutch oven to brown my meat, add the rest of the ingredients, then put it in a slow oven. Less dishes to wash! With that said, I just started using an electric pressure cooker, which also has a slow cook function. I can use the saute function, then switch to the slow cook function. I swap out the lid for a regular glass skillet lid that fits. It saves my real estate for something else. So, if you think you may need two slow cookers, perhaps get one and use your IP if you need to run two. I do however recommend the 3qt mini IP. I cook for 1 or 2 and it's perfect as a small slow cooker. For your larger family, it would be perfect for doing a large batch of veggies as a side dish. The only time I use a slow cooker is my 9x13 one for lasagna or smothered burritos. Happy Thanksgiving!
Thanks so much for the recommendations! The thing I like about slow cookers is I can leave the house ha I’m not comfortable leaving the house with my oven on. I don’t need it often, but when I use it I’m so thankful for it!
@GrainsandGrit I agree and that's why I'm using the slow cook function on my IP instead. If you choose to use your IP as a slow cooker, the settings are important. The LOW setting on the IP is essentially KEEP WARM. The MED is equivalent to LOW on a slow cooker and HIGH is HIGH. I've seen reports of people who don't like to use it as a slow cooker because they try to use the LOW (keep warm) to cook food and it takes forever to get done.
Thank you for this video. I use a 6 qt green pan which may be too small for your family. What I like about it is that it has a sear mode so you do not need to sear in a fry pan first.
Hi. I love my slow cooker as well. So convenient. I bought a bread machine at a yard sale. Haven't used it yet. Do you have any videos for bread machine recipes? Thanks much 🎉❤
I love the Ninja brand, have 2 air fryers, a round and the 2 basket fryer. I am pondering the slow cooker, Ninja Foodi Possible Cooker PRO 8.5 qt on the company site $99.99 Black Friday sale.
Why not get an 8 qt. Instant pot that slow cooks? I like the fact that it's stainless steel (MAHA, no aluminum) and you can buy as many stainless steel inserts as you want to save space. 😊
This is BEST crock pot ever! I mean BEST!!! It will stir your pasta, soups, stews and it will SHRED meat. Pull pork, done! Shredded beef, done! Don't walk just run! Get it!
@@D.S.8632 So it has two lids. One regular lid, then one lid that has two interchangeable attachments. One attachment will shred cooked meat. It has like 4 prongs. The other will is a stirrer. Thank you for sharing. Please share your granola recipe. Have you tried adding protein powder to a waffle recipe. I love waffles but was hoping to add some more protein to FMF flour recipe. I just used my new Bosch mixer last week to make your FMF bread recipe. 😊
I have not watched yet, but is that the Bosch mixer turned on its back, with a grain mill attachment?! I didn't know there was such a thing. I was literally going to buy a grain mill this weekend so now I have to research more! 😅
I believe the Classic is “better” in that it is able to handle a higher capacity. The hopper also isn’t exposed. For me, if I had the choice of either I would go with the Classic mainly because I’m able to crank out more in one go.
Hi, thank you for sharing your videos, I have a question about grains you might know the answer, I am 1 month from 72 yrs young, I love grains but I am type 2 diabetic, I also found out I am anemic, are there grains that are good for these 2 things? Thank you so much,God Bless you and your family
I’m no medical doctor or anything, but whole grains are a good source of iron plus whole grains are lower on the glycemic index than refined flour! I’ve heard from many people that they’re able to have whole grains without spiking their blood sugar.
Nesco Digital Smart Canner can not only pressure can and water bath can, but it can also pressure cook foods, slow cook, and saute. It’s 9.5 quarts. I love mine! But I totally agree about All American canners-love, love, love that canner.
I have several pressure canners and use them all when the garden harvest is crazy. But a few months ago I bought one of those electric canners and boy oh boy is it handy. I love that I can pressure can small batches and I don’t have to babysit the canner !!
Slow cooker:NOT a Crockpot! I bought one, it died one day past the one year warranty even though I had only used it twice (holidays when I needed the bigger one). They didn’t care and would not cover it. I have since bought a large programmable Hamilton Beach. It’s a gem and woks flawlessly. I’ve been cooking for 50 years and this one is the best one I’ve ever had.
