Magnum Scout Big Gear Show Review: • Magnum Scout Review | ...
The Magnum Nomad is a very accommodating and adaptable electric bike that can suit just about anybody! From the attractive step-through frame and the adjustable stem, this bike can fit shorter riders and taller riders alike.
Electric Bike Report was able to test ride the Magnum Nomad and put it through it's paces at The Big Gear Show here in Park City by taking it up steep mountainside roads to see how this bike performed going up and down steep grades as well as how it handles. We were even able to have a rep from Magnum kindly give us an overview of the Nomad e-bike and what it's all about.

I've got a nomad from Magnum I don't know I run around with no motor sometimes but that's on level ground on smooth bike paths I do this for exercise i use 1st gear and second gear
third gear on a good day aired up the tires 20 lb so it'll roll along pretty easy with no motor on it feels like an exercise bike so my average speeds like 9-10 mi an hour
As I get stronger as the months go on I'll increase my speed I did do 15 miles an hour with it with no motor yesterday
    in 3rd gear

When I use it for commuting and grocery shopping
Then I'm in like turbo mode if I have to get away from cars cuz I'm driving in the road I use boost Plus and I have hit 28 miles an hour with this bike
Course you have to work a little to maintain that I like the cadence sensor I like the other modes too it depends on what I'm doing and where I'm at what hills i am on sometimes I get a lot of weight of groceries
I have a big hill that I got to go up this bike climbs a pretty steep hill 19 mph fully loaded with groceries
In boost I add to it too
Then when I get tired little drop down to maybe 16 17 mph
    Uphill
When I'm commuting to the gym I'm in boost mode
Cuz I have to use the streets to get there I am in the road with the traffic so I have ways of all keeping out of everybody's way 20 25 mph works good for me

Easily the most comfortable ebike I have ever ridden. The problem is that it is under-geared, and it only has a cadence sensor; this means you need to pedal faster to get more boost. However, once you get up to speeds above 18 mph there is no resistance at the pedals in the highest gear, so you cannot add any of your own pedaling power and it's like your beating eggs. If it had higher gearing, say a 10-speed, you could shift up to the highest gear at speeds above 20 MPH and continue to add your own pedaling power to the bike. As is you will not be able to reach the 28 MPH rated speed, even pedaling like a demon. Of course, the throttle has a speed limiter at 20 mph. It also needs a torque sensor so the boost would kick in when it senses resistance, not cadence at the pedals.

I own one… its a great bike.. comfortable for tall people like myself at 6’4”.. however it is heavy, very heavy at about 80 lbs. .. also expensive at around $2600.00 … still a great bike and well built.

The review was meager in my opinion. I hope to have my Noma (here in Toronto, Canada) by the end of this week. I'm used to a trigger throttle (on my crappy Emmo VGO) and get the feeling that I'm going to prefer a trigger throttle over a semi twist. But I've never used a semi twist, so I can't say more.

I started testing The nomad, out in the woods in the forest that we have with all the trails and stuff they got dirt bike trails out there, mountain bike trails, in Freetown Forest over here in Massachusetts we have dirt bike trail set got so many rocks I would not try riding them, then we got some more of that are not so bad that I ride, then I started taking it out on mountain bike trails, and they're loaded with rocks to, they're very narrow, it takes a lot of control to ride through them cuz they get very tight, so I just keep it in first gear because I'm not going to fly through them, eco mode is what I'm using, and the throttle, also the power line dirt roads , I called them Jeep trails I got around pretty easy I had my tires up at 20 pounds
Then the plan what's the air it down a little bit at a time, I got to find my gauge to figure out how many pounds it is I made it so it's comfortable on the Rock s , this thing's like an electric dirt bike, I got it ad down so it'll glide right across the rocks and stumps

This is a serious question. I keep looking at a couple different brands. I figure if I’m gonna pay this kind of money I should try to make a wise decision.
This is $600 more expensive than the Bee Cool Pathfinder. What does the $600 more get me?
He talks about the frame, and customer support. I disregard customer support. That can come and go depending on the company‘s wealth to hire people to be there.
Is the frame worth 600 more? is there anything else.

I was going to buy a samsung s21 phone but someone told me it was the moto G2 for almost a $800 more. It was $800 more then the moto G2 and 800 times better. In the end I payed $200 for the moto G2 and $800 for the S21. I guess I should have listened to experts when I bought my phone and not to some stupid youtube comments. When I was trying to decide between radpower and magnum (not fat tire) I was leaning towards radpower. Thankfully , i decided to give a test ride for both brands and the difference was as obvious as a low end phone and a high end phone.

@@jolinecangler6397 All of these bikes are far away of being premium. The components are below average, things like the shifter are the lowest end of the Shimano line up as well as the 7 speed cassette, the frame is generic cheap stuff from China, the brakes are cheap etc etc. So maybe you should've tested a bike with really good components and then make a decison. What you compare to each other are just some low end Motorolas with different price tags, but you didn't even compared it to an S21. Thats the point. Magnum don't even tell it's customers on the website, what parts they're using and thats just embarrassing. I will help you to categorize the parts, the casstette they're using is around 20$, an avarage Deore 10x cassette would be around 35-40$ and a premium Deore XT 12x cassette is around 140$
In this case, a S21 would cost you around 4000-6000$, what we're talking about here are 1500-2000$ bikes. So we're in a absolutly different category. If you want to talk about premium, just take a look at something like the Haibike FullFatSix.
I don't get it why people like you trying to tell others, that they're stupid youtube commenters but obviously you're the person who has absolutly no clue about bikes and the category and pricing of components. Or you're from the company and try trolling. These are the two options, choose carefully.

@@Benjamin_Jehne You are being a little disingenuous Benjamin. I did trial a haibike and i went with the magnum summit because it was half of the price but 75 percent of the quality of the haibike. That is the point I am trying to make. Radpower was my First ebike. I enjoyed it because I didnt know better. But once I learned more about what I wanted from an Ebike i realized I needed to invest more money. I wanted a more comfortable and stable ride and better brakes and a more responsive electric system and I got all of that with my magnum. I only "jumped on your comment" because I have this same discussion with my friends whom want an ebike and go with a radpower because of the lower price and the result is they stick with it for a year and then their next bike is never a radpower, they always buy up. maybe they buy a magnum maybe they buy something else. I did troll you a bit by saying your comment was stupid, apologies.

Any thoughts on himiway vs rad vs eco vs aventon. I'm not going to spend a ton of money to find out it's not for me but looking for comfortable upright position fat tires. Thanks

In the meantime, some areas are already banning e bikes from trails because of these monstrosities, the original idea for e bikes was to help less capable riders still be able to enjoy cycling, then the nut jobs start adding more power and speed, making them as fast as some mopeds and scooters.
