The main 4 males lead singers in 10th anniversary show Colm Wilkinson Michael Ball Alum Armstrong Phillip Quast were just the perfect casting great show
I saw Colm and the entire original B'way cast back in 1987. I flew up to NYC for a single day to see it. This song stopped the show with a 5 minute standing ovation. It was an unforgettable experience. Also Colm was Dr. Jekyll on the concept disc of the musical Jekyll and Hyde. Always a brilliant performer! Thanks for the great reaction!
Whenever I have a niche song/artist/musical stuck in my head and I look it up to see if someone has reacted to it, it's always you guys! I'm always several years too late, but thanks for reacting to this and to flogging Molly and to tons of other random things over the years!
Honestly, this whole show (tenth anniversary edition) is amazing. instead of going one song at a time out of order, try all of them, one section/song at a time, little by little, you won't regret it! Only one other reactor has done it and he's done very well with it. 🥰
You have to find a full cast production of this show (NOT the 2012 film, please - no offense) - the music is phenomenal. PBS aired a live 35th anniversary concert version which is amazing, with many from the iconic casts. Hearing this performed live on stage is, incredibly moving.
I don't mind being offensive about the film. I thought it was a travesty. Music like this cries out for superb singers not a bunch of highly paid actors who don''t have an ounce of musicality between them. I hated the film but play the DVD of this concert regularly.
I’ve played in the pit orchestra for 3 different runs of Les Mis and the music never gets old. I would suggest you take a listen to Lea Salonga singing “On My Own” from the same concert.
Wonderful reaction as always. I suggest you see the movie. Really good music and story line. I don't know if there is more than one version but I saw the one with Hugh Jackman. I think you will like it. Keep up your reactions, love you. God Bless ✌️❤️🏳️🌈
I love this movie version! Having Colm Play the bishop was perfect. Hugh Hackman did an amazing job in the lead! Also so many other great performances like from Anne Hathaway….
hey people I appreciate your comments and want to talk about the song but starting and stopping ruin it for people that have never heard the song before and takes away from the desire to watch it with you, please let the song play through..

The final "Valjean's death scene" from this concert is heart wrenching. Colm, Ruthie and Lea are incredible.
Spoiler!
jk
❤ totally agree.... If it doesn't bring a tear to the eye, you don't have much of a soul...
This song was written specifically for Colm Wilkinson.
If there was a concert I missed that I could choose to go back, in time and see, it would be this one. Had to be amazing.

I saw Colm Wilkinson as Valjean on stage when I was 12. I was so happy to see him as the priest in the film version.

Love your reaction.❤
That song, that man - utterly beautiful.
The ten year anniversary, as opposed to the 25 and indeed the movie adaptation, is definitive for me. Colm and Ruthie Henshall were amazing.
If you do a search for the "four Valjeans", you'll get the best Valjeans' ever to play that role...including Alfie Boe!!
I saw Colm Wilkinson perform The Phantom in Andrew Lloyd Webbers Phantom of the Opera in the late 80’s. Great!
Saw him perform Phantom of the opera in Toronto many years ago. Went to see it just because he was in it. I was not disappointed.

ok ok ok...Other songs I recommend from this show: Lea Salonga singing "On My Own" and Michael Ball singing "Empty Chairs at Empty Tables"!!!

Robin, I'm so jealous! I've always wanted to play that show!
Stellar
I demand a reaction to this musical!!!!
Liliac....."Carousel"!....brand new..first single released off of the NEW Madness Album!
You should watch Austin Brown the lead singer from Home Free do his version of this song... Great.

God Bless ✌️❤️🏳️🌈
That is not a very good film as singers, by and large, are not very good.
The 2012 movie with Hugh Jackman also stars Colm in a smaller role 🤘
I love this movie version! Having Colm
Play the bishop was perfect. Hugh Hackman did an amazing job in the lead! Also so many other great performances like from Anne Hathaway….
Another was Eddie Redmayne as Marius
Now go listen to David Phelps version!!

For copyright purposes on UA-cam they have to. Happens with all music and movie reactions. If they don’t, it will get banned for copyright
In its style it is nothing special. You have to broaden your musical horizons a bit.
Yes there is lots of great musical theatre out there, but Colm's rendition of this song is absolutely top drawer.
@@csatterley I don't like it, sorry.
@@hardrock3333 How anyone can say they don't like it is beyond me .
@@MARTIN-bd7gm I have never said that I don't like it, only that it doesn't seem to me, in its style, nothing remarkable.
Totally disagree. I’m a huge theater buff, and Colm will always be my Valjean.
I am not a big theater goer But I have seen this show 5 times and am going to see it again in the fall
Lucky you! I’ve seen it twice and was in tears at the end both times.
