    Thanks for the quick tutorial. I tend to always wear gloves, but then I'm the type of person who can injure herself standing still ;)

    Typically when heating metals to join them you would use solder to do that, which can be tricky. I've seen people make airplanes and cars from cans by fold edges together to create a bond between adjoining pieces. Sometimes it's not the whole edge, instead they may create matching tabs that fold together. You might consider that in conjunction with some kind of eyelet/grommet to firm up weak links (see my video on "how to make a layered soda can flower" for how I did that) Good luck!

    Thank you.
    The knife your are using seems very strong and sharp. Mine did not puncture Welchs can. I have been using Dremel metal cutting wheel(quite noisy). Was your aluminum can softer than Welchs, maybe?

    Hey ksoem2, I can't even imagine what an awful noise that dremel makes...I use mine to cut silverware and that's pretty bad. You might just need a new blade in your knife. If it's dull it'll force you to push hard on the knife not only crushing your can but possible causing the knife to slip and injure you. I've never cut a Welchs can, but in my experience they're all pretty similar. Good luck!

    Serious question, do you think it would be possible to craft a suit of armour (costume) from aluminium cans?

      yes
      but it would take serious dedication

    I should have watched this sooner. I do have reservations about just throwing out the scraps, though. . . .

    I'm SO scared of cutting myself. Any sure fire way to avoid those sharp edges all together? Sandpaper?

    What is a good way to merge aluminum so that I can make armor pieces Luke breastplates, grieves, pauldrons, and gauntlets? Can you heat it to connect it like a blacksmith or is there an easier way?

      You can make or get a spot welder. It's like a stapler, but for metal sheets, and it doesn't use staples, it uses an Arc to weld them at a precise point

    Can you make a tutorial on how to cut an aluminum can length wise from the opening to the bottom like complete ½ cut ?

    • @BlazinRedxDragon
      @BlazinRedxDragon 9 років тому

      I can't remember what craft I wanted to use it for but I wanted to know how you can cut a can in ½. I heard the only way is to fill it with water - freeze it - then cut the frozen can in ½ with a saw

      :P I'm sure the scissors instantly dulled after that cut.

      Typically, food is canned in tin, not aluminum. Tin is thicker, and you’ll need a strong(new?) knife blade AND a pair of good strong tin snips.
