The spree and the ruckus are apples and oranges. Spree is a 2 stroke. The Ruckus is a water cooled 4 stroke with all sorts of pretty fancy technology in it. @@backwatersandbackroads I was conditioned to lead the standard corporate lifestyle. Didn't really break out of it until after many years of university. I wish I would have done things much differently...and maybe been a little more unconventional in my teens and twenties.
@@backwatersandbackroads Formal education is about "processing" people into cogs for the corporate-industrial machine. For some, the processing becomes an addiction. I picked up two Masters degrees because I was addicted to the process. In the end, I could have done a lot more for myself, and in less time, following my own path, than I could as a cog in the mainstream corporate machine.
Sounds we had a very similar process to figuring out what we really wanted. I wasted a lot of time complicating something that in the end is fairly easy.

Is that bike street legal on the Highway and how fast does it go ? Is it 49cc..... ? Did I hear him right. It looks like you guys are doing about 55 in the beginning. Grand Stories this guy has !!!👍
At what mile did you have to replace the rings or did you get 80k miles without having to do any repairs except change the belt, tires and bulbs? I had to replace the rings at 14k. I lost a lot of compression which caused the oil to leak past the seals. I run it wide open nearly all the time. Local speed limits force me to ride at max speeds or get run off the road.
The cause might be due to not changing the oil often enough. I change it every two thousand miles but the time between changes is something like 6 months. Maybe time does effect oil and the three month suggestion is warranted.
I'm pretty sure Mike has never cracked the motor. He has a blog (linked in description) if you contact him with your questions he will get back to you.
I have a ruckus myself and I live in newfoundland and I think lack of use kills a ruckus more than anything. if you keep using it that little 50cc engine burns soo hot and fast that nothing can really build up in it. look at the honda cubs that are used in 3rd world countries and are just used daily non-stop, they last forever.

I messed up the audio on that one unfortunately. I still didn't quite know what I was doing (close) lots of regrets on that one. He's an interesting fella. Lives his values. Very liberal and no tolerance for other non liberal perspectives. He actually told me to get bent soon after;) oh well...the divide in America continues
@backwatersandbackroads well then maybe it's best some audio was left out 😆 🤣
@@ahk0341 2 different worlds;)
@backwatersandbackroads differences are allowable, forcing them onto others is opposite of what I believe regardless who you are.

Thank you very much for the wonderful video interview of "Lost With Mike". Please consider getting some kind of microphone for the person you are interviewing so you can hear their replies better. Or simply hand them the phone / video recorder so they are close to the built in microphone when they start answering your questions.
I need one so bad man....thanks!
If I bought a Ruckus, living in Wisconsin I would only be able to ride it about 5 months out of the year, because winter up here is sooo long. We just received 3 inches of snow last night!! :( I wanna move back South, maybe Kansas, at least then I could ride it about 9 months out of the year??
Great one B.
What a interesting guy. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for watching Thomas:)
Fantastic video! 80k+ on a 50cc Honda is impressive! Do you know what oil he runs in that bike? Oil change interval?
I will ask! He has a great blog linked in description. He's vert easy to contact.
@@backwatersandbackroadsThanks, I have one with
@@beaconbus Me too. My guess is nothing special. I also have a 2011 Ruckus with about 400 miles on it. They are always too expensive! I got mine for $700 bucks.
@@backwatersandbackroads Great buy!!
@@beaconbus I have big future plans for mine. Hope to do a long distance trip with it. Maybe the Oregon coast first?
I dig his vibe..
i live in newfoundland and would love to do what you guys are doing and hoping sometime soon ill be doing the same. hope you guys come back soon!
Awesome! Love hearing from Newfies :) if you're interested, check out "random island norm" he shows off the Rock really well. Thanks for the comment me b'y! ;)
This guy my hero
Thanks Brenton. I needed that one.
Thanks Arlan :) Glad to see you here.
Pretty neat lifestyle and homestead. Nice piece of land there. I'd opt for a slightly bigger house, but not by much.
I love seeing younger people figure out the good life while they still have time to enjoy it. Mike is an old soul and knows what he wants. Rare! Thank for watching Gilded
@@backwatersandbackroads I was conditioned to lead the standard corporate lifestyle. Didn't really break out of it until after many years of university. I wish I would have done things much differently...and maybe been a little more unconventional in my teens and twenties.
@@the_gilded_age_phoenix8717 that's exactly how I feel. I spent 10 years off and on in college. Waste of time and dumber for it!
Mike been to Newfoundland, had some Purity crackers and caught an ugly ol' sculpin?! That's friggin' amazing!!!!!!!!! Most Newfoundlanders aren't fans of sculpins, although apparently they taste good according to the folks brave enough to eat them. By the way, I loves Purity products. Thanks for sharing! Awesome interview.
Norm! You're almost at 1K subs last time I checked. See how many people love the Rock you live on :) I linked your channel in the description box too :)
love the Rukus great bike. Knees to the breeze and hang on. As I say, scooters are the best Toxic Man Filter
Wow, Amazing !!!
Thanks man. Glad you're here :)
Nice video a fun watch. Cheers
Thank you sir :)
Great video!!! I am leaving the horrible corporate world next August (2020) and I’m going riding for a good month or two. Just disappear and enjoy each day.
That sounds awesome man! ;)
This is the same guy who did a video short documentary for e-garage The road is life … … Outstanding
That's right;) that's where I first discovered him
@@backwatersandbackroads I always wondered what happened to him … great video
@@davyboycolon530 thanks man. Wish I had done better...but it's been popular
Is that bike street legal on the Highway and how fast does it go ? Is it 49cc..... ? Did I hear him right. It looks like you guys are doing about 55 in the beginning. Grand Stories this guy has !!!👍
The ruckus stock engine only goes to 38 to 43 miles
This video reminds me of the first The Last of Us video game. Back roads, guitar playing in the background, life in all its simplicity
Isn't that game about perverts?
@@notmyrealname977 nope. It is about surviving perverts and zombies
@@jayefe17 what a strange thing to make a game about. Seems like a lot of people are obsessed with perverted garbage nowadays
I wonder if a truck driver would let you put your ruckus on the cat walk between the sleeper and trailer something to think about
At what mile did you have to replace the rings or did you get 80k miles without having to do any repairs except change the belt, tires and bulbs? I had to replace the rings at 14k. I lost a lot of compression which caused the oil to leak past the seals. I run it wide open nearly all the time. Local speed limits force me to ride at max speeds or get run off the road.
The cause might be due to not changing the oil often enough. I change it every two thousand miles but the time between changes is something like 6 months. Maybe time does effect oil and the three month suggestion is warranted.
I'm pretty sure Mike has never cracked the motor. He has a blog (linked in description) if you contact him with your questions he will get back to you.
I dont know why he didnt do the lowered seat bracket. It looks like it would be a more comfortable ride height
I'm bet this was a wonderful story if only I could have heard it.
I know, the audio is terrible on this video. Sorry. Was still learning
Very nice video ,really enjoyed your interview with Mike
Thank you Charles :)
I'm a big fan of Newfoundland! :)
Thank you for this very interesting interview. I too would like to slow down and enjoy nature.
Also, it looks like the link to Lost with Mike mentioned here needs to be corrected. Please check it out.
Apples and oranges but this guy makes it more difficult for me to decide between a crf110f or a Ruckus
Awesome 👍👍👍👍
I love Ruckus it's such a badass adventure scooter straight out of Madmax.
I really hate riding in the fog. Great video brother!
Thanks William. ;) that's what Foghats are for! (Link in description)
How does he do it without using major turnpikes? Lots of two lane roads I guess. Top speed of a Rukus is what 30 mph. 👍🇨🇦
Mike has done a few minor mods to get thr speed up to 35-40...but yeap, just secondary backroads. Loads of them in the country;) thanks for watching man
So cool mike
How long can you drive 500 miles on these bikes
@@AllLifethingschannelyt Mike had 80k on his bike and more now I'm sure
