They found that drivers were abusing it in various ways (Speeding up if it was about to turn yellow or red, start driving a couple of seconds before it turns green..etc) which caused more accidents.
@@itisworking nah, I've seen in metro cities parts of Mumbai hai non working traffic lights I was surprised. As I never saw any in bhopal, indore. Dehradun, lucknow or many other cities. So it's mainly on the local government not even the state government. But it's stupid to comment such on a video because their area had non working lights, now they assume it doesn't work anywhere. (It works in every decent area of India)

Roads in the future could be made to generate electricity to the autonomous taxi vehicles we all would be using then. Requiring less stops at charging stations. The vehicles would be continuously charged on such highways mitigating the need for recharging.
