Lee Marvin is probably my all time favorite actor. This is my all time favorite war movie.

You and your crew have made a winning celebration of a man who lived and worked to the limits of his emotions. Unlike some other documentaries about Fuller, in this one he really seems to trust the filmmaker. You managed to break through his crust and create something meaningful. Thank you for making and posting this.

Loved "Park Row", and I'm not a newspaper man. It's powerful and gritty, and had me glued to the screen like a magnet. Love many of Samuel Fuller's movies, just thought I'd mention Park Row, so others might check it out, if they haven't already.

I liked how Carradine’s Cigar Chomping closely mimicked his character’s inspiration. That being Samuel Fuller himself.

Know nothing about Fuller. But excellent to see behind the scenes footage of Lee Marvin making a movie.

Excellent find! Thank you! Also, is the narrator Aldo Ray? Sounds a lot like him and he’s a good match for this.

The Only Version Of 1980's The Big Red One That I Prefer Is 2004's The Big Red One: The Reconstruction (160 Mins).

Oscar Winner Lee Marvin, back when the Oscar actually meant something.

Having watched Big Red One yesterday. I wondered if Vic Morrow had played the Lee Marvin character instead?

Don’t think it would have been nearly as good. Morrow’s hitch in the Navy was post WWII, while Marvin served in the Marines over much of the Pacific War. He participated in 21 landings until he was wounded in Saipan and evacuated. So he like Fuller would have had intimate knowledge of the type of subject matter that Morrow would have lacked. Plus Marvin’s Oscar suggests possibly better acting ability. Not to say that Morrow had little. He was a good actor.

    Is Aldo Ray the narrator?
