Does anyone else wonder about the line where it was like "Banned until the crown deems otherwise." But since she is the queen she is the crown, so can't she lift her own exile?
Kymberleen Cooley wow that’s such a great point! I completely forgot about that line. I hope this is the case!
Omg I didn’t even think about that!! You’re so right!! That changes so many things 😱
Yes! I remember that! “I exile Jude Durante to the mortal world. Until and unless she is pardoned by the crown, let her not step 1 foot in Faerie or forfeit her life.” I reread it to make sure of the wording because it’s important 😩
Omg! I never thought of it like that until you mentioned it 😱
Towards the end it's also hinted that jude is interested in finding the crown maker (the fairy that ran away after betraying carden and siding with his brother) so maybe in book 3 vivi will find him for jude, and jude will get him to forge her a crown similar to carden's and with which she will end her exile based on the "until the crown deems otherwise " part
But honestly i wouldn't be surprised if holly throws me in another loop with QON
I'm pretty sure he did that (the end) to help her and save her. It would be stupid if he did that because he hates her, he obviously loves her, I think he knows something, a threat maybe, that Jude didn't see, and he send her back to the mortal her to save her life ! I hope she will give him the benefit of doubt and not rebel blindly against him, cuz it would be so predictible ;(
Mortal world *
Yeah that would make a lot of sense considering the way he’d been acting throughout TWK... but then again, what if the way he treated her in TWK was all an act? Book 3 has all the answers and I’m so nervous/excited
I agree. I think he had to protect her because she did murder a prince of faerie. I think that he does revel in the power but it's all part of the act. I personally believe that Cardan is trying to prove himself to Jude most of all. He wasn't power hungry; he just wanted to be included in Jude's plans. I think he was able to harness the power of the land because he cares for her and she was kidnapped and he HAD to learn it while she was gone.
@@exlibriszoey3068 I thought the same thing. If it was all just an act, then there would be no evolution of the character, and Holly Black knows better ! What would be the point of making Cardan grow up and learn how to be himself instead of what his father/brother wanted him to be, if it was to make him regress at the very end ? It would be pointless !
That’s part of what makes the story so great: it’s impossible to tell what’s real and what’s an act!! And I agree: it would be so disappointing if his character development regressed, but that was my immediate reaction and I can only hope it’s wrong. Cardan is such a complex character and I’m so excited for his true self/motivations to hopefully be revealed in book 3
The last chapter was the best part of the entire series bc no one would have predicted it whatsoever. I hope the next book is as great as it was
I definitely think Cardan had a good reason for exiling Jude at the end! We didn't go through all that development for nothing i trust Holly!
That’s what I’m hoping!!! I can’t wait to find out!!
It would be awesome if she would write a book from Cardans perspective
I want that... but then again most books who change their POV at the last book most likely mean that the protagonist (who's previously the person we follow througout the story) is going to die so..... I'm 50/50 on that (I don't want Jude to die :
I feel like at the end cardan banished her to save her life. When he found out he killed her brother or even when she was sleeping aftdr they got married, he’s free at that point. He could’ve killed her after that, he didn’t. Cardan doesn’t like murder, we’ve figured that out for a while since TCP. And he seemed frustrated when in TWK all jude and the assassins want to do as their solution is kill people. So maybe he banished her to 1) save her life 2)he genuinely in his own twisted way loves her 3)to teach her a lesson and make her regain her humanity which we slowly see slipping away throughout this book with the decisions she’s made.
Idk just a thought. But I genuinely believes he loves her.
As much as I would like Carden and Jude together (which I hope does happen in book three), I like how unlikable they both are. Everyone wants Carden to have a good side and he does, its just not the typical good side. So this idea that he needs Jude out of kindness or love is like almost impossible. For me, Carden has layers: evil, bad, sort of bad, tolerable, decent but not necessarily "good". And that's okay I like that he has ulterior motives because everyone does, his are just more noticeable sometimes. I wouldn't want him to loose his edge in the last book lol. Jude is more reckless but I think she finally got how scheming the court is and how to stay ahead of the game (mostly) I don't know what she'll do after the events of book 2.
I totally agree!! I definitely appreciate the complexity of each of their characters, but I feel like they can’t end up together if they maintain the facade of unlikeability with each other if that makes sense. I understand being evil to enemies or in the context of schemes (and i actually enjoy when they’re both a little ruthless), but I think it’s impossible for Jude and Cardan’s relationship to seem believable if there’s still a degree of revulsion and hate towards each other at the end.
@@pagetravels I so get that, and I hope Holly Black tackles how they would be if they did end up together. I think also being in the world they are in, it makes me wonder what rules apply to their relationship? Human relationships are different and I think it could really come down to, what are Carden and Jude willing to sacrifice for each other, evil plans aside lol.
So true!! Regardless of what happens they have limited time together but we definitely haven’t heard a lot about other stories of mortals in Faerie 🤔
It's Cardan
Cardan is getting his own pov like judes sister had her pov and holly specifies that in queen of nothing we will get to see cardan in the mortal world...im sooo pumped!
LOVE THE CROWN! This book threw me for so many loops but I liked it a lot and am so excited for the last book let's get it
THANKS!! I thought it was a nice touch considering the book 💁🏻♀️😂 and same omg. I don’t think I’ve ever gone into a finale less blind/clueless as to what’s going to happen
I agree the last chapter did make me question Cardens character development. After it happened I remembered in the same chapter when he was poisoned, I remember him saying he trusted (as in past tense) Jude when taryn and Maddoc tricked him. Maybe he did not plan to betray her like that but after he felt weak after being tricked my taryn and Maddoc he didn’t like this feeling so he betrayed Jude.
by the end, i m like
HE ( as in, that ASS, CARDAN) DID WHHHAAAAAA!!!!!
i feel so betrayed right now
SAME!! I’m really hoping he had good reasons though 🙌🏼
@@pagetravels yea me tooo. glad to talk about it
What to read first..the wicked king or the cruel prince..?
Also, is it necessary to read the cruel prince for understanding the wicked king?
Please help
Great video!!! I also had similar thoughts to you and love your crown!!!
Thanks so much!! ❤️
Ok to be fair, I thought Cardan was an utter and complete ass in thelast chapter. But he couldn’t have deceived or lied in any way about any of the things he said to Jude, so there must be some hope left for them... right?
I absolutely love this series!!!
I feel like I’m definitely getting there!! And if book three is as epic as I’m hoping it will be then this series will REALLY be great
Great covers
Is it just me or does January 2020 sound like a fucking *lifetime* away?
Can you please spoil the hole story for me please ?
She gave a spoiler alert. You didn't have to watch that part.
