I reflected on parts of my life when listening to this..I’m 72 on Thursday and have found a lot of peace in later life after a turbulent past..thankyou for this beautiful music
Happiest birthday to you. 72! Huge congratulations. I'd love to hear more about "peace later in life after a turbulent past" - I keep hoping it is ahead for me. I'm turning 59 this year, and honestly, I had planned not to make it to 50, so, I've outlived and outlasted a bunch of turbulence myself, some self-imposed of course, and changed my life's trajectory. I realize this isn't the place to discuss, but just your posting stokes that dwindling flame of hope inside me, the one I keep trying to squash because hope is so addictive, and let downs are all I'm used to.
Thank you for this beautiful peace! I am in a foreign country, divorced 4 months ago, cannot return back to my family in my home country because of political persecution, don't speak local language, lost two jobs on the same day... Sometimes I feel grief, deattached, lost, forlorn, disoriented like life has no real meaning anymore. But reading comments of other people sharing their tragedies and feelings makes me feel supported. Knowing that I am not the only one who is getting through a hard period of life. To anyone reading my story and experiencing strong sad feelings -- know that you are not alone, and that feelings come and go. It will get better. Life is worth living. You will make it.

Too often my guitar work has had a deadline of some kind, which has always seemed to push creativity to the side, exchanging music's beauty for clunky utility. @@zakbraverman that's great question! I might even make a video about that. Actually I began as a classical player, experimenting with open tunings is a great start, try to find the scales and chords in different tunings (i am using open g here). Think about drones and how open strings and doubled notes in chords can create interesting textures rather than just finding the correct harmonic notes- I hope that helps...
This is a comment someone made on a different music post but the words were perfect ❤ 👌 "It just made me stop, not run not fuss, but listen to myself, calm down and accept the music."
This music has deeply moved me. It stirs up an emotional response that I can't quite describe. I am grateful to you for offering what appears to come from deep within your heart. We need this right now. Art is going to be what saves us, I believe.
Thank you Julie I am really pleased that my music moves you and I agree Art is what saves us- and of course the space to be still and disengage from the constant need to grow and expand which leads to so much conflict and destruction.
Such beautiful music. I played your music today for my hospice patient to help soothe her as it is very comforting. Your music reaches beyond me to a precious soul on her later life journey. Blessings to you.
@@tamelamikesell6815 Thank you Tamela that is very touching to hear, it’s always lovely to hear that my music is helping people in some way and goes beyond what I am immediately aware of.
Sheldon, many of the videos you have here remind me of when I used to just sit, back over 40 years ago, sometimes with other musicians, with no plans and just see what came out. We rarely recorded our impromptu sessions. Lots of magic on our journeys, sometime someone or two might start describing their thoughts, or their day, or of a time from the past and the music would wrap itself around the words, enhancing and amplifying the mood. Your music is the closest thing I've found to those times. Thank you for making these videos and recordings. I have already told some old friends to tune in to what you're doing. Best wishes.
Thank you Ward, I am very grateful and encouraged by your words. I also really appreciate that you have shared my work with your friends and I believe you are listening in the conscious way I am hoping for.
For me, one of the biggest mysteries and wonders is this: Music is "just" waves of air molecules hitting our ears at varying speeds, densities and frequencies. How can this resonate so deeply and cause such an emotional response? Beautiful, thank you for sharing.
It is indeed a massive mystery- I have lots to say on this subject, but perhaps a video about it might be better- thanks for the comment I really appreciate it

I want to move my family back to Scotland after 15 years working in Taiwan, but I need to wait until next spring. I need to grow roots again. The comments showed me that you reach a lot of peoples emotions. You have a gift man.

Poems (and I guess song lyrics) are like fruit. They come best naturally in their season, and can be tough to shape up and polish. You may have chosen best to play your music with deep feeling, which sometimes reaches people more than words. A poet I like for his eloquence, but depth, is David Whyte. His style is to write and read spoken word essays on the meaning of everyday words.
I would like to introduce myself to Mjguitars. I am an older novice where the guitar is concern. I would like to carry this practice over into my latter years. I was wondering if you could pull-up a chair and chew the fat sometimes?

Human creativity is the most unbelievable thing about the cosmos to me. We are the fabric of the universe witnessing itself, creating abstract things that are meaningless and unparalleled in beauty all at the same time. When we're gone, I hope something of us remains to be cherished by what comes after.
God spoke through your music, my friend. Everyone here, myself included, has been touched and moved so deeply by your music. It made me give thanks for my life and my two wonderful children. How would a primarily classical player get started on this kind of music?
@@zakbraverman that's great question! I might even make a video about that. Actually I began as a classical player, experimenting with open tunings is a great start, try to find the scales and chords in different tunings (i am using open g here). Think about drones and how open strings and doubled notes in chords can create interesting textures rather than just finding the correct harmonic notes- I hope that helps...
@@ecosticks Thanks! I actually just bought a cheap Ibanez archtop and an amp to fool around on, so it can double as an ambient learning setup.
My hands won't let me play so I will listen to yours. Thank you for sharing.
I'm sorry to hear that. I am glad you are enjoying it.
Yes I am sending love to your heart and hands. ❤❤ sorry you can’t play.
What a beautiful sentiment ❤️
This is a comment someone made on a different music post but the words were perfect ❤ 👌
"It just made me stop, not run not fuss, but listen to myself, calm down and accept the music."

Absolutely beautiful, contemplative music. I sat down at my home office to catch up on a mountain of paperwork. I was feeling anxious but your music has given me a space to breathe. I will be a frequent visitor.
I just had exactly the same situation. I hope your anxiety lifts today. I know how debilitating it can be with so much work to get through. I don’t know you and you don’t know me, but I wish you all the best 👊

I felt pretty low today. This soothed me somewhere deep inside like a stream of cool water. I want to move my family back to Scotland after 15 years working in Taiwan, but I need to wait until next spring. I need to grow roots again. The comments showed me that you reach a lot of peoples emotions. You have a gift man.
Thanks very much, I know that feeling, I live in Australia but my roots are in England. One can feel disconnected sometimes.
I’m planning to settle in Southern Scotland, Peebles maybe, since my boy loves cycling. I know England pretty well and love the various vibes and people of the UK. Take care. Glad to find your channel.
@@Poetry-Reads-and-Writes Your channel looks interesting- I was thinking about making a spoken word channel before this one took off!
@@Poetry-Reads-and-Writes I agree, I love David Whyte, also his spoken delivery adds a great deal to the words.
