This was the moment that introduced me to both Michael and Leo, and from there so many other great artists. Thanks for uploading, I can never find my VHS copy.
I once met Michael Hedges--just as a fan---he treated all of his fans with so much respect--he talked to me for several minutes---just seemed like a guy who really knew who his was---also brought a new energy to the guitar that has influenced most of the new wave of instrumental guitarists that came after him.
Wow! Did not know this existed. Have seen both of them perform in person individually. Saw Michael twice, the second time was a few months before his death. Have seen Leo several times. Twice in the 70's, once in the 80's, this year and one other time.
I found out about Michael Hedges in '85. I expected he would be much more famous than he ever was. I guess there is not always a correlation between talent and fame.
But... His Influence on the " Guitar Collective "" has proven Immeasurable ! RIP Michael .... I often have wondered ... Imagined Mr Hendrix on stage with Hedges... Even JIMIs head would have turned a few X ! 🌟💫🎸🎸 In fact .. I do believe he was " The Hendrix of acoustic guitar"" . Simply Incredible! So very few ever reach such a level of writing ..playing .
"I have them 'round to deal with people like you" ..... quick as fuck... great bouncing off each other,.... I love Leo, but man I miss Michael.... I was 14 when I heard that sound page. To be honest I went for blue powder first but over time "because it's there" and everthing Michael did grew on me.... there's a melodicism that Hedges has that is totally unique and transforming, whether current players recognise it or not.
Very cool… A big fan of both of these guys . I saw Leo couple of times, Michael at least a half a dozen or so! I didn’t see them together on this tour though… thanks for posting this! Hadn’t seen it before 👍❤️🎸
I saw together on two different tours. First time I went to see Leo and had never heard of Hedges. Michael had the opening set . . . and WOW, I had just discovered a new guitar god! A few years later saw them again with Leo taking the opening set.
Original VH1 stereo BetaMax recordings of these broadcasts are kept in vaults, till a corporation or billionaire pays the rights to release reformatted issues. But artists who get monetized by pennies & dollars know cheap attitudes of internet users don't monetize this online copyrighted material. Artists have become so cynical being unpaid, they've redacted content, unless UA-cam allows mass licensed consumer use. I wish artist royalty houses could find sponsors to pay for more issued content like VH1's (now Tyler Perry Studios), so that vintage, vaulted recorded shows like this can be put up on streaming sites for fans to see & enjoy again.
Hard to believe there was ever anything this cool on VH1.
this was the idea back in the early 80's.. to bad it couldn't last
For me the most alive and wonderful version of All Along the Watchtower. The best.
Lucky enough to actually see them preform together.

Martha Worc: Had he lived a little longer, perhaps he would have become more widely known. He died in an auto accident in 1997.
@@shelleycovey8437 Yes so sad.
He wasn't famous commercially; but he was famous among guitarist, especially acoustic guitarists.
He lives on in people like Don Ross, Andy McKee, Kaki King, Phil Keaggy, and others. They all acknowledge Michael and play many of his tunes.

18:32 Leo: "I used to think that it would be nice to be consumed by my instrument." Michael's reaction of knowing is wonderfully funny.
That whole closing talk by Leo is great. He quotes Carl Jung.
OMG this video just made my weekend. Have already watched it three times in a row and will probably keep it on repeat. These guys are so special.

A true innovator ❤🙏

I have live on the double planet on the vinyl… Amongst others of Michael’s
Write with your instrument; translateing in an inmediate sound your thought sounding words.
