@simonedegroot905 This. I think the reason this has become such a laughable trope is because with TV/movies, they're kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place... on the one hand, they need to give their character a "disguise," but on the other hand, they need to make sure the disguise isn't good enough to actually confuse the audience. So they go some pains to find cosmetic changes that show up as clear signals of "costume" but do it in such a way that it's impossible to miss who we're really looking at. In real life, it genuinely doesn't take a drastic change to "change" someone's impression. Obviously a pair of glasses aren't going to keep someone who knows you well from recognizing you (Maybe Lois Lane has face blindness!), but it might be enough for a casual stranger to not notice you're the same person in different situations. A change of hair color or style is even more effective, and of course, for men, changing or removing facial hair can make them nearly unrecognizable.
Maybe because they're trying to portray Judge Morriston as being one of those people who happens to be blinded by her arrogance and the insatiable desire to win no matter the cost? Sadly there are people like this Judge who use the system to their advantage and hurt others while pretending to be something else. I think before becoming a judge one must undergo a rigorous psychological evaluation to determine if they someone like the judge in the clip. They must also undergo the psychological evaluation regularly in order to remain a judge. Any concerning behaviour will result in them being unable to continue their careers indefinitely. At least that is what I think. Or maybe we have a situation where we fire the judges and make them reapply for their jobs. Not all at once but a group at a time. This could route out some of the problematic jobs. Like the Camden Experiment but for judges and lawyers. What does everyone else think? 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
M. Pond really gets around! She must be using her Time and Relative Dimension in Television (TARDIT). Or maybe she had help from the fake defendant, Ethan. He seemed flashy.
I call BS. If the judge was willing to go that far those two would have ended up dead in a lockup the judge controls or at the very least "intimidated" in an area out of view of the cameras. Their colleague would have gotten the runaround about even where they ended up until well after everything was over.
This story is based on actual real cases where Judges and other authorities have been illegally sending both minors and adults to special commercial prisons because they get a kickback. Though a good amount has been arrested and serving time for this crime, there are still some states that have yet to be investigated, which the news media have only just recently divulged. @@missladyanonymity Such indiscriminate behaviour one would come to expect from someone as apathetic as that Judge, who values her reputation above all.
@@missladyanonymityI was just thinking and about to say that myself.
@@missladyanonymity in the actual documentaries of offenders, most are old men with grey hair and big bellies. I never once have seen a documentary about a female s*x offender
Sadly, she was too tempted by the guaranteed stream of green and was so arrogant to believe she was being righteous. People like her make me sick.
"These kids need to he put away!"
Yeah and when those kids are SA'ed in prison or even unalived, are you gonna say that they deserved it?
Yeh, she should save that for the grand jury!
I doubt she gives them a second thought once they're dragged out the door.
@queenesther09 she probably also advocates for them to be locked up with predators.
What about the other 40ish kids that were still in that prison?
They're sentences are probably also being reviewed and overturned. Its just taking a bit more time/this is the case in the forefront of the audience's mind.
Lawyers will be running to grab them out and sue the state!
As soon as a judge is found guilty of these types of crimes every single case they ever presided over is thrown into doubt and must be reviewed. They will likely work in reverse starting from the most recent and working their way backwards
Thank goodness that evil judge paid for her treachery at the end.
Our system is pure madness. That it was even possible to prosecute that girl for images of herself is an indictment on the whole thing.
Glad it got undone in the end, but irl, this happens to teens all over, and they don't get so lucky.
its very rare for the cop, laywer and prosecutor working together
Fun Fact: that young lady actor with the blond hair and blue eyes quit acting in 2018, went to military officer candidate school, and is now a US Army Infantry Officer.
I thought that was Carly Schroeder! I loved her as Melina on "Lizzie McGuire" 😊
Fun fact, apart from Americans the only other nations that worship the military are run by dictators. Actual democracies, the USA is not one, don’t worship the military, military personnel from those nations don’t constantly tell people (mostly strangers) that they’re VeTeRaNs or talk about it at all; it’s called dignity, integrity, modesty and humility. Just a fun fact.
And knowing how standards are lower for women that means a big "who cares"
@@lindinle For every woman standing a post to protect our country, there's a man who isn't. What's your excuse?
This was such an interesting twist in this ep and I love the ending of this EP
You do know this is a tv series, right? ie NOT REAL?
IF you want to wish that sort of thing on judges, there are plenty of real cases where you can do that. ... (although I've seen FAR more vids of cops getting away with literal murder)
@@Don-ii4vm Well someone pissed in your drink this morning. The OP never insinuated anything about this episode being real, yet here you are berating @FrauditorMania for it regardless. Get off your high horse and leave people alone. Find something better to do with your time.
Actually based on real events in Pennsylvania known as Kids for Cash
@@Don-ii4vmwho are you responding to ??? The comment you posted this on just said they liked the episode and your acting like they said something awful about the judge and that they didn’t know it was a tv show.
@@Don-ii4vmHuh? Are you that uneducated that you can’t read a comment?
Sam Copeland: the end of the nightmare for hundreds of kids.
Elliott stabler: Hilda Marsden, you're under arrest for bribery, official misconduct and false imprisonment.
Loved this episode. Easily top 20 of all time
Wait a minute, River Song? U were a lawyer and a Archaeologist?
My favorite part? Her character's last name is Pond!
@@rocketman544no way!!!! That's freaking awesome
Spoilers
Oh my God, oh my God it’s Alex Kingston, and I absolutely adore her. She is the absolute best.
Judge is power crazed, narcissistic and lacks empathy. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
The really depressing part, this happens a lot. And it will be much worse very soon
Stabler with those glasses as disguise slays even Clarke Kent
The scariest thing is this happened.
Professor River Song!
And they named her, Pond. 📘👏🏻
Yeah, I forget when I met Alex was this some kind of crazy foreshadowing because I think this was a few years before she even showed up on DW...
8:47 “The only one going into custody is you.”
How can you be in contempt of court isn’t in session? She might be sitting on the bench but they aren’t interrupting court proceedings
Oh no it’s Ezra Miller. I don’t care what his character did, GUILTY! Send him to jail
Thoroughly enjoyed! Might be my best so far
So this case had a good outcome for the blond girl, but the nineteen defendants/respondants this year and the thirty-three the year before, it does nothing for their sentences. Their sentence stands, and their criminal record is with them for life.
Actually, their cases will be reviewed. A judge found guilty like this will have all those previous cases reviewed
@@philwill0123 I would guess by the time that happens they will have finished their sentences.
And their criminal record still stands
The irony, saying that bleeding hearts don't have balls.
People bleed when they are injured. Someone who doesn't bleed has no reason to fear.
A single bleeding heart has more balls than every judge like that one.
River song is in the SVU universe 🎉
It’s the first time we had a crooked judge in the law and order universe
Love that the actress playing 'Miss Pond' was River Song aka Melody Pond from Dr. Who.
Love how they set up the judge!!! Love svu
Me:"I'm not in contempt of court, the judge however I have immense contempt for."
Clearly, that judge was taking notes from Dolores Umbridge
Didn’t expect River Song to take a break from archeology and become a lawyer.
Omg the whole Ezra Miller took me out of the experience especially with the way he was acting lmao
What is this accent Stabler is doing for the judge? 😂
Street grate?
He seemed flashy.
oh, no, a criminal goes to prison
The Teen lost becasue she had a lousy lawyer. She is a Doctor- a ER Doctor,, not a Lawyer.
Attorneys and police have actually been jailed who spoke up against these judges.
The sad thing about this episode is, there are actual corrupted judges like this in real life.
The judge’s name in real life is Swoozie Kurtz
Not River Song just spending some time as a lawyer when she’s not time traveling!
Is that Ezra Miller at 8:25?
Unfortunately
it is
The flash
It is
Sad thing is that there are judges actually like this.
The worst part is that this actually happened.
Sad fact is that what this judge does, sentencing kids for kick backs happens a lot. Sad part is most of these judges don’t get caught and the graft is very lucrative.
Miss POND?? Nice!!
River song
I heard that and had to replay it, lol.
Hello Sweetie!
Somebody in the writing department knew what they were doing there
There are several such corrupt judges in district courts of India but they never go to jail. What a pity.
That judge needs some street justice. But hey, the inmates are gonna have _FUN_ with her~
@@alexisgrunden1556 She likely supposedly got that in prison
gross. even if she is a corrupt person that's just lousy to joke about.
Dark.
@@HeroOnAPlasticHorse It's a show but is it a lousy joke? She sent innocent kids to environments where the chance is, they got abused on different levels. Did you want her to get a cosy cell with tv etc after what she put those kids through? She deserves what they went through. They didn't do anything wrong, she did.
@@HeroOnAPlasticHorseShe sent innocent kids to jail and acted like she didn’t do anything wrong. Personally I would pay good money to see inmates have their way with her.
Love to see the SVU help to take down corrupt officials. LOL on Stabler's accent during the sting.
Overcharging is bad and rare. Under-charging them happens every day where thugs can freely prey open the innocent.
Putting officers in contempt is very unusual.
