"Just kinda roughing it in real quick," he says, demonstrating how superior his skill is to mine.
Haha, but this was nice, really. Helpful, and not overly-explained.
So after 5 Years, how are your skills now?
@@jotaprende
😂
Once again, sketching a face in under 2 minutes that is 90% accurate. Most people only dream of that in their sleep. Once again, awesome drawing skills man! Keep on with the videos!
Steven Ma Thanks Steven=).
I agree! Unbelievable! 🙂
Yea man - To be able to just look at a face and copy it that closely- while getting all the proportions right... Its freakin amazing.
Shading is my biggest problem. I am practicing, practicing though. Your videos are very helpful.
+Mary Cage Thanks Mary. I'm glad it helps.
Art of Wei hey you dont use blending stumps?
I have problem shading too
Proportions are mine😭
interesting points ,if anyone else is searching for easy ways to draw portraits try Loctavan Amazing Drawing Strategy (just google it ) ? Ive heard some unbelievable things about it and my mate got cool success with it.
This is too easy I can do this in my sleep😌............technique called dreaming 👌🏽
Rhys Malcolm A ha funny
I feel like there are random people who go from perfect art videos to videos just pressing the dislike button because there jealous. Seriously, how can you dislike a video like this?
+Brooklyn Rox Haha=). Thanks. One thing I've realized that you can never please everyone, so don't even try. Thanks for your comment and support.
@@ArtofWeiHo five years later and this video still rocks
I like how you begin with the eye and follow angles from there. It’s more helpful than beginning with an oval, subdivided in half, etc.
Your drawing makes her look more beautiful than the photograph. Very helpful.
Thank you.
Your lines are so simple yet the end results are perfect, bloody amazing
Gustavo Turquetti Thanks Gustavo
This is impressive. I study at a fine art academy and we are taught to go from big to small. This means you plot out the overall shape of the head, add in shadows then work your way down to details. Your method is excellent and seems much faster. Good job.
+Michael Swedenberg That's the usual way of drawing. I just find this way of drawing a bit more accurate. As long as it works, it's good=).
You’re TALENT. I have found myself getting better but go through so many botched drawings to get to one I’m proud of. Shading scares me because I usually mess it up at that point. I just can’t seem to find a rhythm to the lines that doesn’t make it seem like a messy mash up. Drawing on white paper is also harder I find for rendering than toned paper. Keep up the great work 👏🏼
Thank you so much 😀
Him: does the other eye perfectly
Me: Has been erasing that same eye for 20 minutes
Update: I’m actually doing really good on this drawing ✍️
👀 one of her eyes is larger, look again
I consider myself a good portrait artist but always struggle mapping out the face. The shading/detail not a problem, how you guys can do this freehand is unbelievable. I have to grid out the face and measure the distances of the eyes, mouth ears etc so painstakingly slow. And even then doesn't always work
The head is such a difficult thing to draw, and shading it is extremely difficult, at least for me. If you're doing portraits, have you consider just tracing it? I did some portraits before and I find that people don't really care how you did it. They just want to see your techniques and your expression on the drawing.
WeiWorks I brought some tracing paper yesterday, simply traced the outline and features then taped it to the drawing paper. Then roughly drawing the outline whilst checking every now and again to see if it lines up. Pretty affective and has saved me a couple of hrs! Once the features are complete I simply start the detail, and just use the tracing paper as a reference guide. Thanks again Wei!
harvey christian
That's cool.
I think the same about you gifted shaders! I can map out and get proportions right free hand well. I’m the opposite. I suck at shading.
lol I am very glad with my progress. I am only 11 years old and I have almost gotten the shading down. I am still working on it and my symmetry. I am almost at the level in this example. I just wish I could afford more sophisticated drawing supplies. lol! everyone thinks I have a bright future with my drawing.
Also thanks for the vid so many helpful tips :D!
Makinzie Hilscher That's great. You can always post it on my facebook page "Art of Wei." As for supplies, it's not expensive. All you need is a 2b and a 4b, that should cost you about $2 total=). You can always just use a regular HB pencil from. It just won't be as dark. But don't let a little thing like that deter you from drawing.
This 16 minute video literally taught me more on shading than my art teacher in 5 days. Not to mention this is the exact reason that i managed to pass my art class so THANK YOU VERY MUCH SIR
NoirIV =). Haha, that's cool. Glad it helped you with your grades=).
Your skill makes this very daunting for a rookie like me, but your instruction makes me want to practice more and more. Thank you. Between yourself and Proko I have gone from someone who couldn't draw a stick figure to...well now I can at least draw a prettier stick figure with a little bit of substance lol. Thank you and keep it coming sir!
Haha, yeah, like a stick figure with boobs? Haha. It is daunting at the beginning, but like everything else, drawing is a process. Practice will build up your basic skills and before you know it, you'll start experimenting and learning at a much greater speed.
I have only just come across your videos as a complete beginner and find that your style of teaching is good for me and you explain things!
I cant even draw eyes that looks alike.
I can't even draw eyes that DON'T look alike . :D
I recently saw a tutorial that instructs on how to get eyes alike. First you draw some parallel lines to make sure the shape and size are right. You can find the tutorial here on you tube. Search for drawing two eyes alike. I love youtube. You can learn so much. This tutorial very nice.
Im pretty sure you draw on one first dont you?
I cant draw anything that looks alike
Im just starting to draw and never drawn a face ever before but im going to have a go and see how i get along its just something I've always wanted to do well im going to do it wish me luck oh and by the way you have a real skill you re sketch although done only to show shading its brill .......
Jamie Hurst The face is very difficult to draw, so draw from reference as much as possible.
What you just did my friend was nothing short of shading expertise! Keep up the good work with these excellent tutorials.
Professor Art Thank you so much for your comment.
And what about the quick outline sketch! Pass out. Wow.
I've been watching this video for many times. Just inspired to start in art again. Art is my passion at an early age but landed as a banker. Thanks for your video I'd learned a lot. God Bless.
Juvie Thank you Juvie. A banker is pretty far away from art=). Hope you can continue with your passion. Good luck.
helped a lot kept on failing but this video made my piece come together really well =)
Conner Joseph Thanks.
Very good video, my weak spot is shading and highlights. After I draw the face I get stuck on finishing my drawings. Thanks for making this video.
The face is very complicated to shade. Best thing to do is to draw from reference.
this guy is awesome..how simply he draws with just normal pencils..sir Wei, you are awesome.
You know Wei Im really very thankful to you..
Your video helps me a lot man.. I really improve my art
Me too!
yes same here..
These videos are still super good! I went from not knowing anything about shading, to having certain things click for me just after hearing your explanations in this video!
2020 and I watched this... my best shading I’ve done
The hard part is doing different angles. It's a total game changer and it's 100x harder to do.
I love that you're using staedtler pencils and not some fancy drawing pencil. I also use staedtler. I just bought my 3rd twelve pk of staedtler two days ago.
+The Crimson Loki Staedtlers are awesome. I love the quality and consistency of it.
I just began drawing again after 3o year's and your video are very helpful especially for my shading thank you
I do know how to think you. Good job brother. Thanks ooh one more thing people in the Middle East began to watching your videos. So you have people who are watching your videos all over the world.
Mustafs Alotaibi Haha, thank you Mustafs. Much appreciated.
Art of Wei from Egypt :)
Thus is absolutely excellent, I am new to drawing and I have struggled with knowing what pencils to use or how to shade this has really helped, thank you very much, hopefully one day I'll be as good as you,
+Veronica Samms Thanks Veronica. facebook.com/artofwei
Good job kid, your sketch looks great...Thanks for sharing your ability. It is truly helpful.
Thank you for this awesome video. Good to hear it’ doesn’t have to be exact, that’s it’s okay to exaggerate some areas to eliminate boredom.
Nice teaching master wei.hopefully i can sketch like that...
Thanks=)
Lot of good info to grasp. Some basic info about different pencils and stuff be really nice to have !
saurab dalip Thanks saurab. Some of my earlier videos I have talks about the different types of pencil for drawing. They should answer some of your questions. Thanks.
Thanks man i will check dem out . Love ur work, keep em coming!
saurab dalip Will do. Thanks.
Thank you so much for taking time to teach us and help us improve, I have learned more from your videos than I have from my art teacher that has been teaching me for 2 years. I really appreciate it, you are awesome :D
Other have commented the same thing=). Unless you're in an art school, most regular school art teachers are not very good.
WeiWorks Art school teachers aren't very good either. All they do is give you assignments and critique your work. They never really show you how to do anything. I learned more by watching your soft air brush technique video than any lesson from any professor.
I suppose it depends. But you do learn a lot from other students that are good. The State college that I went to had pretty bad art students, so the environment was not optimal.
I absolutely love Monica Belluci, i have many pictures of her some signed. She has true timeless beauty. I look forward to watching this video.
Really, wow, cool. She's gorgeous. This photo of her was taken from the Pirelli calendar. Great body too=). Haha. Couldn't show that here though. She's a REAL woman.
Love the 'Don't do line drawing' tip. Brilliant tutorial. Thank you.
13Moondancer Thank you 13Moondancer. Love that name! Mystical!
Thank you again, Wei. Very much appreciated.
My pleasure.
haven't drawn for a while now but this word inspired me to pick up the pencil again
Cool. That's good to know.
this really helped me how to draw more realistically and how to shade
Very good instructional video -Clear concise instructions to build the tonal qualities of the face ARoseman
You make all of this seem so easy (not that it is, but it's encouraging). Thank you!
+Adriana Maria It just takes practice
i Lov this Guy Technique it helps me out a lot on copy sketch
+Valperci Nabanalan =). Thanks.
From my experience the material of paper kinda affects shading. Smooth paper makes coal harder to stick and hence harder to make shade. Of course that's just for me, since I'm new to this. Shading is very, very difficult.
Thank you for the video. I'm a fan now.
+Hạnh-Minh Nguyễn Thanks Hanh-Minh. Absolutely, the paper is very important, especially the texture. It's definitely worth it to but more expensive papers, even for just sketching.
i love drawing so much...i watch this video so that i have guide how to make nice drawing
Shiela Mae Almuete Thanks Shiela.
Love this and thanks for the great tips. These online art tutorials have become my art school and I am learning so much now.
Cosmata Lindie Thanks for watching Cosmata. I'm glad I could be of help.
that was fun to practice thanks
Yeah, it's fun to draw.
No doubt, you are an artist.
Just excellent. Really enjoy the teaching.
Excellent help, thank you!! I learned sooooooo much. I am by no means an artist, but I love to doodle and always wondered how shading really worked and what to look for. And you took the time to show us to the side the different strokes which seriously helped me out. Ah, thanks!!!
RyderDixon101 Thanks, I'm glad it helps.
Wei, what a great way to teach shading. Your comments are the perfect blend of tips and demonstration. Excellent!!!
Thank you for guidance
I try try from one week and then in 3week I do this sketch with out any mistake thanks a lot 👍👍
Again a good tuto. :)
Thanks Wei.
Thanks pinceau.
nice video i'm learning to draw and my best work was birds this vid has help me and you make it look easy
MMusic Knight Great. I'm glad it helps.
I love your art .....

Art of Wei well its true that i draw manga but i start learing how to draw a real face and i think its working and thank you for your advice :)
asma oueslati Good luck.
Art of Wei thanks :D
once again good work. im really learning alot
Thanks again for checking it out mista.
Great video very helpful. Good you draw a picture of a face tilted to the side. I'm having trouble with proportions.
Kathleen Lobb Thanks Kathleen. I'll do more videos of faces soon. Thanks.
Keep creating. Thank you.
0:46 already better than i can draw
thats beutyful and very informative thanks
theaprentice Thanks.
MONICA! 💜
Omg... How did you do that amazing proportion without using gridlines.... I wish i was as talented as you are...great job... Your newest fan🤓👍
Keep it up, that's a great way of making tutorials, you take things slowly and don't speed up so that we can learn directly from what we see in real time
Thanks.
TOTALLY AWESOME, YOU ARE A VERY GOOD INSPIRATION TO PEOPLE LIKE ME, WITH A PASSION FOR DRAWINGS I LOVE YOUR TECHNIQUE, THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR SKILL WITH US. I REALLY APPRECIATE THAT.
DexterAnderson87 Thank you for watching. I'm glad I can provide inspiration for other artist.
It's impressive how fast you drew it.
I'm glad you still think it's fast, because I slow down a lot when I know the camera is on=). It makes me nervous and I think too much about each stroke. And trying to narrate it at the same time doesn't help either=).
I will start to practice my shading now thank you so much!
That my friends in no ordinary model... that is Monica Belucci, the worlds MOST beautiful woman. Cheers WeiWorks :)
=). She is beautiful indeed. Others have pointed that out as well. She's a real woman with GREAT curves.
WeiWorks LOL - indeed. One word... "Malèna" Italian movie... watch... ;) Stunning. Yet sophisticated and understated. She's the next Mrs dougieladd as long as she learns how to make pies instead of pouting and looking beautiful all the time, that can get a bit boring :) :) Sorry, I think I've lost it now. :)
.
dougieladd Haha. Some woman are always sexy no matter how old they are. I wish I could have shown it here but that picture of her is with her nude=).
WeiWorks LOL - :) Older women are like a fine wine... bitter and corked... no that's not right... I mean sophisticated and beautiful ;)
Wouuuuuu thank you Amaizing drawing 💎💎💎💎💎💎💎👏👏👏👏👏👏👏😘😘😘😘
WOOW ! Super !!!
HarrysComicCamp Thanks.
Thank you Sir, I’m learning a lot from your videos.
You are very welcome
what a great artist kindly teaches us!Thank you you are the best one
Thank you Victor for watching. It's fun for me too and I learn something new every time I do a video. Putting it in video and words really helps me to analyze what I'm actually doing, instead of instincts=).
Awesome drawings...
Nice teaching. Thank you.
My Hero thanks for the video!
Thanks Troy. Thanks for watching.
Thank you so so much for this simple and very helpful video, it has helped me a lot in the shading area of drawing and sketching.... Appreciate big time..
Donald Pratt Thanks Donald. Just sharing what I know.
ohhh that's how you shade lol my professor said exaggeration is good mainly because it actually starts to look realistic after awhile, but yeah thanks for the vid!
keymon17 Yeah, exaggeration helps to see the form clearer.
This is a great video! It helped me a lot with shading and drawing lips.😀
Could you tell me how long it would take to reach your level of drawing? what should I do to start from complete new? thank you.
+Sam Jason Many many years=). Nothing is easy unfortunately.
KATNISS AAAAHHHHHHJHHHH ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Very very good job! I'm going to practice my shading now-- I always thought looking at a real life moving person was difficult but I found taking a picture and sketching was soooo much easier! If you haven't already-- would it be possible if you can do a eye tutorial?
aliece alessandra Thanks. I do have a video on drawing eyes. Please check that one out.
your videos really help. thank you for making them
Thank you Rusty. I'll keep them coming.
Wow well done helped me a lot keep it up
Great. Thanks for watching.
Its amazing
Good shit compadre thanks for the tips much appreciated Kudos from cornwall England
Thank you Ben!
i extremely agree with you about drawing shouldn't be the exact same as the reference (especially a portrait drawings), it takes away the artistic side of it.
Thank you very much for this video, it helped me a lot on my BingBing Li drawing :)
=). You're very welcome. Thanks for viewing.
I love you art of wei
Fantastic ability in all your drawings.
Huge fan of your work.
Myself been drawing with graphic pencil past 69 years.
