This small video is a GEM played today after watching video and was flushing irons hybrids and fw woods the beauty of these videos is the economy of words and simplicity of explanation
I have found almost all of your Golf struck golf videos to be extremely helpful and spot on to eliminate previous flaws in my swing. at 67, I just wish you had instructed me at 27! Short, concise, informative, and easy to understand and duplicate. Thank you and congratulations.
Ozzie and his videos from Golfstruck are outstanding. The guy is a Teacher who knows his stuff and how to get it across to his Students. Very well done!!!
Ozzie. First time I've heard/seen instruction relating club design to ball positioning. Applying this info to my ball striking will most certainly improve my overall game. Kudos on your teaching method too. Your explanations are clear, concise and void of information overload. You've given me knowledge I can readily use and expand upon. I may not be a scratch golfer yet but I sure feel smarter due to your vids. Thanks for sharing.
This is the most comprehensive explanation of ball position in stance I've every heard or seen. Not only does he tell you where it should be he explains why which is key. Thanks
I've been playing golf for 15 years and haven't heard it put like that before. This makes all the sense in the world. I know Jack Niclaus plays the ball in the same spot. Great job teaching. Can't wait to try it.
This was very useful and solved a weakness in my swing overnight. I kept pushing the ball to the right and was compensating with a tight grip to pull my wrist round, making everything frustratingly inconsistent. Simply bringing ball forward has released my swing and now hitting 5 iron off ground (never able to do before) with consistency. Thank you.
This video is awesome. I wish I'd've gained this instruction before the school golf season. I'm going to begin trying this and see how much it helps! Thank you for putting it this way..
Great explanation, never thought of it that way before. I thought that the hybrids had to be used like the irons and set-up like them.. this makes more sense now.
Hi Ozzie, This is great. Making sense of setup. I always heard both methods of ball positioning but never has anyone explained the alignment with the armpit in the single ball position. Never knew how to determine width of stance with each club.
wow great info ,kept thinking I'd pull ball left with the forward position. i wen't from pushing the ball to hitting it solid and straight!! great video tks
I'm definitely one of those confused players! But your explanation is very clear and will help me. I've been hitting down with my two hybrids and even, to an extent, the fairway metal, and now I have to work on more of a sweeping swing. Thank you very much for your advice.
Fantastic instruction....With all the nonsense out there on the internet one has to sift out the good with the rubbish. The game is already hard enough as it is without all the complicated misinformation out there. Kiss is the keyword here "Keep it simple silly" Great teachers out there David Leadbetter, Jimmy Ballard and the granddaddy of them all John Jacobs. Having two ball positions really makes it simple and the simpler this game is the better one plays. Two greats used this principle one was Nicklaus and the other was Greg Norman...If they can use it, us mere mortals can too:)
@Prince: Try it out .. IT REALLY WORKS... my question on this video is : what is the starting stance for 7 iron - So that we can start from that stance and move the other leg based on the iron/wood we are using at the time of play ....
@golfstruck Hi Ozzie, really great videos!!I'm just wondering if you can do a tiny follow on from this video, and go on to placing the right hand on the golf club... I have a tendency to open the hips and knees doing this... I have been trying to find a good routine to fix it, but to no avail! I'd appreciate any help/advice
Very interesting and I cannot wait to put this to practice. This is contrary to what I've been taught, but I will try anything to improve my game. So the hands are not in the center of my body and the shaft is not pointing at my belt buckle. Where specifically should my hands be positioned? I want so much to improve, currently shooting in the mid eighties.
Thanks for the tips. Why does Ben Hogan and Jack Nicklaus play every ball off their inside heel? You say all irons one inch back from heel, while driver, fairway wood and hybrids on heel. Thanks
Very informative. But I think grip strength plays a factor too. Golfers who have "strong" grips (causing them to release the club earlier with the face closing) would need to play the ball back in the stance more (within reason) to avoid the ball going left just after impact and conversely players with weaker grips could probably follow his advice and place the ball closer to the heel and simply shorten or widen the stance per club. I'm still not sure that an 8 iron stance should be much narrower than a 6 iron stance. If you are making a full, powerful swing with the 8 iron and trying to hit it your maximum distance than I think it should be almost the same width. The more narrow stance might feel restrictive and cause you to make more of a 3/4 swing without a solid base to really go after it.
This will allow for better contact but not better distance. The reason a wedge is towards ur back foot is cuz its shorter and doesn't take as much time as a driver to get the club head square to the ball. And it allows u to still get good distance. What this guy says to do will make u hit the ball higher and shorther on ur long irons and wedges
I am sure you are really busy but would really appreciate some feedback. Firstly THANKS! you were extremely clear and the first clip to make sense of some of the different views out there. My question; by the time you reach impact position, with the left leg straightened (and having bumped, not slid,:-) the hip) does that not move the arm pit position forward a few inches? Also I hear people talking about the sternum being the point of reference more than the arm pit. Could you comment please.
hear is the problem with this guys advice, where you bottom out is where you should play your IRONS it depends on the players arms and height and body some players bottom out in the middle some bottom out more forward in the stance , this is something you as a player have to figure out on YOUR OWN....... this is just more bad info on youtube
...do you get paid to give lessons???...Ozzie is correct...if you bottom out in the middle = poor weight shift...if you bottom out forward = too much weight shift. Do what he is advocating---just like Nicklaus and Hogan...your ball striking will improve immensely....it did for me...

Best advice and reasoning of any ball position video I've seen. That's going straight to the course with me at the weekend - thanks! 🙂👍🙏

This makes so much sense. I believe this is how Jack Nicklaus did it as well. Thank you for the detailed explanation.

This took 10 strokes off my game from a 92 score to a 82 really helped me thank you it can only get better from here.
Crystal clear! Thank you so much for this simple explanation. Peace be upon you.
July 2020, Pandemic and all....and THIS Lesson is Timeless. TU!

seriously wow. what a huge difference this simple adjustment made. thank you
Wow. Suddenly I understand what Mr. Hogan was saying in his 5 Fundamentals - thank you - right now! 🙂👍
Thanks for this video. For the first time ever, I was able to go through every club, from wedges to driver and get a solid shot. Next up is distance.
This video is awesome. I wish I'd've gained this instruction before the school golf season. I'm going to begin trying this and see how much it helps! Thank you for putting it this way..

Thank you golfstruck for making this easy to understand
Thanks for this video...never heard it explained like that.
Tried this today. Has made a definite difference, thus far.

phenominal teaching tip...... God Bless you for this one
Great video! As commenter said, by far the best explanation of how and why to lineup to the ball. Awesome work! Pls keep it up!
Nice basic explanation. Can't wait to try it!
Thank you so much for the clear answer to that elementary question :-)
perfect demonstration!!
Though tip was 10 yrs ago.It makes sense to just adjusment on width of stance with different clubs.
I'm definitely one of those confused players! But your explanation is very clear and will help me. I've been hitting down with my two hybrids and even, to an extent, the fairway metal, and now I have to work on more of a sweeping swing. Thank you very much for your advice.
Everyone I listen to on UA-cam says something slightly different, I'm confused 😢
Awesome instruction!

This is agreat explanation!
very good video !
For those that understand this no further explanation is necessary. For those who don't understand this no explanation is enough.
Awesome!!!!!
my sentiments exactly!!

THIS MAN DESERVES A COOKIE

Great
This works on a flat surface. How is principle taken on sloping lies?
this makes so much sense!

Is the ball not too far in the stance?
How far from the ball do you stand?
Every swing, Ozzie is involved.
So you just need a protractor and a calculator when setting up to the golf ball
Hogan didn't use this system. He hit the 5 off the middle and higher irons back further .
...read Hogan's book carefully buddy....Hogan is a bit different...same concept....
That is off a flat lie. How about downhill and uphill lies ??
