    I've seen this posted before but thought I should share my take on soldering anywhere without hydro or even a soldering iron. Using the lighter, tape and a piece of metal rod (also could use solid core copper wire) you can do field repairs anywhere.
    I have used this method a few times over the years. When a chipmunk decided to chew off the fuel pump wiring I was able to use this to get the car back in business miles from the nearest town.
    Handy skill when you need it. You can also grab a portable iron and supplies here:

    A little tip: For a strong proper connection you don’t want to add solder to the wire until the wire is hot. When the wire is hot it melts into the wire and bonds to it. If you just drip hot solder onto a cold wire it’s not going to be a good solid connection, witch is basically the whole point in soldering something. You should not have to melt the solder with the tip of the soldering iron or whatever your using, it should melt into the wire once touched to the wire being soldered. Happy soldering folks!

      What can i use if u don't have soldering wire?

    • @kcscustom9759
      @kcscustom9759 Рік тому

      @@axd2312 I don’t believe there is much you could use, especially that you’d have laying around. It would have to be a relatively thin wire or small piece of metal, either way it would need to be something with a very low melting point and something that can bond with copper. The only thing I can think of is lead but I’ve never tried it. Like old lead fishing weights may work but then again if they’re old and dirty they may not because again it has to be able to bond with the wire your trying to solder. I keep a little wire fix kit that I made up in my truck toolbox so I always have a roll of rosen core solder with me. If you solder stuff often like I do, I keep handfuls of different types of solder on hand at home that way I always have the right solder for the job. Or if you just solder wires once in a while and you don’t wanna waste any money maybe just pickup a small roll of rosen core solder from Walmart. They’re only $2 or so last time I checked but it’s enough to solder a handful of wires.

      @@axd2312 you could find any old or broken motherboard that has bits of solder, use a screwdriver to remove a small chunk of the solder and use that chunk for your solder, good for a small soldering job

    Couldn’t you just wrap the copper wire strands around a tiny balled up, or chunk of solder, then heat it? Like twist some of the wire strands with the opposite wire, and at the same time, wrap them around the chunk of solder, then light it… I wonder if there’s a way to make a bow&drill type of thing that uses friction to heat up the solder? 🤔
