Blanchett doesn't come from old money though (I'm pretty sure about this -- I watched a Biography on her). Rather, I've always speculated that part of why Blanchett is so "put together," is possibly the result of the influence her husband has had on her in their time together. I just have always had the feeling that he's greatly played an important role in shaping who and what she's become (I could be off on this, though). They've been together for YEARS, I know.

She is very classy (to the point of snobbishness), highly educated, has great work ethic and flawless speech / enunciation. Deserved. I just saw Blue Jasmine, and Blanchett just blows it out of the water. She just takes the character Allen wrote and made it her own and she just achieves character so well and so devoutly, it puts other actresses to shame. Meryl, Sandra, Amy, and Judi can learn from her devotion to her craft of acting. Just amazing. This should have been her second Best Actress Oscar win. When she was nominated for "Elizabeth", I was all about Gwyneth Paltrow at the time. So when she won for "Shakespeare in Love", I was thrilled. Years later, I finally watched "Elizabeth" when it was on TV, and after it was over I said to myself, "Oscar blew it!"

Deserved. I just saw Blue Jasmine, and Blanchett just blows it out of the water. She just takes the character Allen wrote and made it her own and she just achieves character so well and so devoutly, it puts other actresses to shame. Meryl, Sandra, Amy, and Judi can learn from her devotion to her craft of acting. Just amazing. Thank you Cate Blanchett for being an actress among celebrities- for being a craftsperson among clout-moochers, and for just being one of the definitive actresses of this current generation. You deserved this. Here's to a wonderful future in whatever you do!
I don't think Judi and Meryl need to learn anything from anyone. Did you see the other performances? This was no doubt the right choice but Judi Dench was sublime as well.
