- Hello and welcome back to another episode of The Dive! Azael, Kobe, and Meteos discuss how Smolder is becoming a Pentakill machine, who deserves to be All-Pro and who isn’t, and share their playoff predictions. Also, Kobe got stood up this weekend by Meteos - he failed to meet them at the theaters to watch Dune 2. Grab some tequila, because this episode starts off salty.

The strat vs 100t seems to be the strat vs 2021 c9 spring. Camp top summit, but I think it is super troll vs 100t because sniper isn't playing over aggressive even while getting solo kills, and showing your JG constantly vs River is just asking for death in the other lanes
C9 are frauds and they will be exposed tomorrow and I can’t wait for it, Jojo is being insanely overhyped quid has been playing better than him pretty much all split long and the botlane is definitely 100 thieves favour in consistency factor fudge is nowhere near snipers level currently and blabber has been ok to good Lane for lane 100 thieves is better and there much more cohesive, better macro, have better team fighting and a team moral only concern is the rookies get nervous on stage against veterans

Concerning Blabber as all pro; Maybe I'm missing something about the new meta, but there were several times this split where either neutral objectives were free for the taking for C9 and they just don't take it, or they have a really good set up for a fight and are ahead and then decide not to fight. It really felt like Blabber's usual aggressiveness was completely missing. Like he, and most of C9, excepting jojo, were playing scared. Hoping they play with aggression in the play-offs.
I think Blabber has been underrated for as long as I can remember. He has been fortunate to have great laners every split, and I feel like his champ pool is not great. When he goes to an international and meta changes, he tries to pick up the champs and kinda does nothing (Morgana jungle year). Maybe it is confirmation bias, not sure.
Whenever anyone talks about best jungler, for the past 3/4 years it is casters/broadcast folks saying “okay so blabber #1 because he is blabber and look at his stats” but idk, always thought it was weird and obviously super evident this split

Jenson had a monster split, and Sniper was top 3 after being clowned on. I also think Contractz is the sole reason for like 4 of NRGs wins this split and needs to be recognized.
I think Berserker is great, but he genuinely might be the worst Senna in the league and C9 will not let go of the Lucian pick despite the champ being pretty giga-useless. I actually think that both factors are a huge reason for why he’s looked so mid this season
If you look at his and FBI's Senna, you just see the massive difference in both comfort and execution. Berserker straight up doesn't look comfortable using Senna, especially in late game when she's supposed to be stronger.
Tells you everything you need to know about Lucian that T1 just went 0-2 with it.

Meteos on the dive has been best trade deal in the history of trade deals.
I honestly think that new carry or solo lane champions can’t be balanced any more. They have so much in their kits that they will constantly be in a state of ridiculous to unplayable. Power creep on new champions is just insane.
the only way to balance it is to remove some mechanics and change the numbers.
Hwei is pretty balanced while having a fairly complex kit

I firmly believe if you made the plans months ago, you should hit up the other party the day before or the morning of to reconfirm or remind them. If you just made the plans 3 days ago, you don’t really have an excuse for a no call no show lol

I get that bot lane is hard to rank atm but I don't understand how Bvoy isn't an immediate lock in for first. Him and Meech and far ahead of the pack on DPM but Bvoy's on a considerably worse team + just on an eye test he has been carrying the hell out of SR. Plus his other stats are fantastic (top GPM, highest CSD@15, etc.).
how much senna did bvoy play?
As far as I can tell, Bvoy is automatically first. I would put Meech and Tomo 2 and 3, but I don't know which order those two go.
Yeah CSD this split is a pointless stat with the amount of senna going around, also GPM goes down because of her as well. If he played a couple games of senna then the credit is due, otherwise those are useless metrics.@@TheNewdex
Sadly you can't really use those stats this split of course CSD and GPM will look good when you compare them to a "support" senna

I think you need to cut some slack for Snipers very first games in the LCS. Going to have nerves and a learning curve
When talking about awards like that, you have to hold every game to the same degree of scrutiny. If a rookie in the NFL threw like 10 interceptions in his first 3 games, you'd still talk about that too, even with the added benefit of the player leveling up over the season. Sniper has been great and still probably getting into top 3, it's not like he's being scammed here.
@@Oolong_Bagged There is a difference between a player who has been playing in the LCS for 5 years and most likely had limited room for growth and someone who has never played in the League before who has huge potential for growth.
After going through the first year of learning the END of the year is probably the best indication of the players skill level in the new league not the start.
True, but the award is for overall performance. If he really has improved that much, he can win next split. Otherwise you have to start cutting slack for other players too “oh, this new import only just arrived in the country, that’s why his first games were bad” etc etc

So you're trying to say these awards are for the player the person will become in the future? I don't think I follow your logic. This award is for this split, that's it. If you're a rookie performing well, you don't get bonus points for being a rookie, that is what rookie of the year is for.

Lee is also one of the most skill dependent champs in the game. I’ve never been outplayed by a Lee and thought what was I supposed to do? It’s always …that was kind of clean.
@@dps0610yeah I tend to agree about Lee, his only undodgeable combo is his W dash into R+Q and that can feel a bit bullshit especially when he’s fed but otherwise you can just dodge or space him

Smolder is the most disgusting thing to come to this game. Lpl yesterday, gala spent 25mins getting turbofisted, only for him to hit 225 and IMMEDATELY get a penta. Happens every game. Do nothing for 25mins and win cause of champ dif.

I think those 5 have stood out in their respective roles all year, with the exception of Tomo, who looked solid before the break, then turned it onto another level after.
@HigherKaiju I think Azael is right, in that recency bias always plays a part. For me, it's always been how do you close it out?
FLY didn't look incredible these last 2 weeks, you could argue that they didn't need to, but there was some shakiness. That's not Bwipo's fault, but I felt like he could've done more. That could also be said about Impact, who only looked good on Udyr this split.
Sniper didn't always look good, he started slow - but he's a rookie, he's gonna have growing pains. However, 100T needed a big weekend to end the split and oh boy did Sniper deliver.
I think it'll probably end up being Bwipo, Sniper, Impact... but I want Sniper to be First All-Pro

You should go back and watch the games the teams lost and how the individuals were doing in those games to determine all pro

I hate how the perception of players are when it comes to mvp voting. 100t and Fly were both overall solid teams. No one on C9 was a human beside JoJo he had to dam near 1v9 just to make it to playoffs. I wish there was a way to vote with nameplates off

How do we spend 20 minutes talking about midlane and don’t even mention how Quid carried so many more games than Jojo or Jensen it’s not even close.
They also did not mention Meech having the highest DPM in the league and Quid having the highest DPM for mid laners.
And! 6 fricking POG awards, most of anybody. That's just the name bias. I think he's MVP honestly. River played amazing, but in the end Quid carried it as the data clearly shows.

While I agree FLY are the favorites over TL and that all the criticisms of TL are fair, it is WILD to me that nobody even mentioned or discussed how TL just beat Flyquest THIS WEEK. We literally have a recent 1v1 for comparison and didn't even bring it up for analysis. Massive negligence in the conversation.

I wish he would just ask the question, have THEM answer, and then give us his long answer after. I think the problem is that he in a way that's much less opinion and it even includes closing statements or something so then all Kobe or Meteos can say is, "yeah" or "agreed, its interesting". And since he answers in a way that feels like he's wrapping the point up, it only makes sense to be the final say in the topic.
Meteos has some bizarre takes. Makes me wonder about his macro when he was a player.

I really hate MVP and All-pro pics, and things of that nature. And here is why:
I think a lot of people goes for the name recognigtion, and think of how they did in the past and what is the name of their team. Instead of what they have done in the split, this is not just a LCS problem, the same goes for Lec. The criteria is up to the individual.
Comments like, but its "C9" so we know its good, or he usually plays good, names like Beserker comes to mind, he have been average this split but because of how he played in the past, and the team he is on.
Sniper is the problem I have with playing solo queue. There is a huge difference between being really good at your champion and getting kills and making a difference and playing a team game. Unfortunately in order to play the team game, you have to sacrifice some of the solo kills you get to be at team fights. If your team isn't winning but you're getting a ton of solo kills it means nothing. If your top lane isn't paying attention to the map and rotations and playing to help the team in that aspect, then he isn't good and doesn't deserve to be considered all-pro in that position.
So you just don't watch the games got it.
His team fighting is legit one of the best in the league. Maybe the best. His spacing is insane. He just gets caught sometimes, only problem, and that's laning, not team fighting.
I’m a 100T fan, but at first he was getting to team fights way too late. His macro still isn’t the best but he is leaning so fast.
Fix Azir. Its wild that Smolder hotfix couldnt drop for super week because its unfair for teams that practiced it, but perma banning Azir is okay?? Just fix the bug.

Saying that Jojo and Berserker would be picked first in their positions after this split if there was a draft tomorrow is asinine. I would pick Jensen and Bvoy over them. They both performed so much better this split. I would also pick Inspired / Bwipo / Impact / Blaber / River first before Jojo/Berserker if positions don't matter.
Interesting take. I agree with Berserker. He just hasn’t been the same and I’m not sure if it’s because of the meta picks (or his constant desire to play Lucian) or if Zven really levels him up while with him.
When it comes to Jojo I would say he had waaay more moments where C9 completely relied on him to have any chances in the game. He definitely shouldn’t have done the run back with akali into Vi/Taliyah but Jensen has had few memorable games where he was the difference maker. He’s generally consistent but has also had some pretty int games this season with arguably better performing teammates to make up for it.
Bvoy has been killing it this season. I can certainly agree there.
There is not a person in this world who loves Jojo more than Azael.

Did anyone else feel this episode was very imbalanced in terms of talk time between the three? It felt like Azael talked like 50% of the time, Kobe like 30-35% and Meteos like 15-20%.
44:00 I really hate that casters and analysts obsess over laning phase and always elevate mediocre players solely because they lane well. JOJO is definitely not mediocre and yes laning does matter, but his teamfighting and the fact that he hard-carried games that C9 won is infinitely more important. On the flip side commentators never stopped the drooling praise of the likes of Summit and Alphari's "incredible laning" stats, even though both players were massive feedbags in Top lane and were capable of dying to every gank because they were so greedily farming.
Im gonna be honest, when he was on C9 regular split, summit was completely crazy. He was first in every single stat by a mile.
Just pick ashe. Ashe destroys Smolder all points from lane to late game.
