I grow up on go go music. Born and Raised in DC. Living In Oakland Ca now. I've turned some of my west friends on to go go. This song in particular is my all time favorite. Long live Chuck (RIP)
I am from NYC and the very first time I ever heard "go-go" was in 1977 while away at Johnson C.Smith University in Charlotte, NC. The woman who I eventually married and began a family with is from SE Washington, D.C. She was a class behind me when she landed on the yard and I scooped RIGHT AWAY! But it was HER who turned me on to "go-go". Completely blew my mind; I had never heard anything like those beats in my life! I was like, "WTF? What is THIS?" I couldn't stop my body from rocking! Mad props to the indigenous musicians of D.C who truly came with an original style ALL THEIR OWN! Chuck wasn't the only band, either --- there were others. At points during the song, Chuck would turn them drummers loose solo and they would have the crowd in a FRENZY!

Woodson Warriors family...that "Tower of Power" & our red, black & green representing "The Woodson Way...❤🖤💚"...coaches, teachers, & faculty (Jefferson, Headen, Russell, Bradford, Mullens, Moe...)...MalcomX Day at Anacostia Park with Rare Essence & all the bands of the 80's & 90's...Go-Go at Crystal Skate, esp. the Nature Boys...listening to Stacey Lattisaw & Johnny Gill singing & hanging out on Ely & E Street...that V6 & X2 ride to high school; the icecream shop at the Post Office Pavillion, downtown DC; concerts at Fort Dupont Park summer stage & that Minnesota Ave/Fort Dupont Park Crew...Potomac & Central Baptist Churches & church revivals...that E street, Ely, D Street, Dubois, Croffut Place, & Greenway crew...Ice Skating Rink & horse stables at Fort Dupont, the Shrimp Boat...The Senator movie theater on Minnesota Ave along with Holly Farms & Hot Shops... the memories go on & on & on..."Chocolate City" will live in our hearts forever & DC Go-Go is in the backdrop of our story, our community, our history! (My boy & old friend HotDog is why I love this Chuck-B cut...😘)
I'm a white guy that discovered Go Go when I was stationed in the DC area in 1985. Got hooked immediately. Chuck Brown is buried in Trinity Memorial Gardens in Waldorf, MD, where I used to live when stationed there.

Chuck Brown & others go-go artists is on my play list when I am traveling from New York into the DMV
This was my jam when I lived in DC in the mid to late 80's. Even my dad liked this.

Just wanna cry thinking about all my fun college days when we partied & were carefree without a ton of responsibilities!! 💘 🎶 😍 💃 🎸 😊
Was down in VA and seen it live. Chuck Brown, Atlantic Star, Levert. Crazy. Got in trouble with my partner Edwards's from South East for seeking off the base at FT LEE, to see that at Virginia State University in 1989. Feels good. listening to the real.
Around about (13) years old when I first heard this on a tape oo I played it over and over again O I never got the chance to see him (Live) on stage.........
