Wow! You've played with some of my favorite musicians of all time. May I ask what it was like playing with RRK, Sun Ra and Pharaoh Sanders?? Do you still perform?
respect ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Mr. Hopps, you are one of my all time favorites. Heard you live w/ Music Incorporated ( I was THERE when "Live at Slug's was recorded) and w/ Pharoah Sanders. Have often wondered if and where you have played since Hope you are alive and well, God bless.
Hi Jimmy, Im one of Habao's Daughters. You all were fantastic in this clip. Did my dad have a box for that hat? LOL
Wow!!! Just amazing! Legendary! One of my favorites!!! Thank you Mr. Hopps!!!!!
No one plays with this kind of energy any more. The whole band starts at 100 mph and just moves on from there!
I saw Rahsaan at Brown University some time around 1972. One of the top five music experiences of my life. He was astounding.
He completely changes the meaning of the song with that intro! BRILLIANT.
The band is on fire and the audience is frozen I'd say a little prayer for them...
woah! is that dude a human? he just seems like a portal that music flows through... brings tears to your eyes.
Roland Kirk is a *GENIUS*
What a 'great soul' he was/is.
Wow!!! The kids in the audience have that look, like, they don't know what hit them. Amazing performance!
the boys knew how to play and the guy knew how to film
it’s timless beautiful
Sweet Jehovah, Rahsaan was as good as it gets
those people didn‘t had a clue what they where hearing
i was there too😂
What a brilliant, damn joyous piece of music. F^cks sake. Rahsaan was a genius.
very little hi tech gear
very much pure energy
i‘ll have it this way!
FFS I literally doubled in size with goosebumps when that tune kicked in.
Same thing happened to me.
@@ryanbrunette There is a God. Rahsaan is in another realm
Absolutely bananas, what an incredible performance.
Never cared that much for the song, but this version blew me away!
One of Aretha’s best….
This is from 1969's Supershow, featuring Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, John Hiseman's Colisseum, Buddy Miles, Jack Bruce, among others. Strongly recommended.
Thanks for placing this in time. I never know where all these shows were from.
Found the DVD on a bargain table about 15 yrs. ago. Of course Zeppelin had their portion taken out which is shame. You can find it on THEIR dvd though.
@@craigharrell7144 Yeah I remember when I bought the double DVD like, what, 20 years ago? I was pretty certain I recognized details!
Saw RRK open for Santana at Fillmore East. When he played this had never heard of him, or jazz. I DID. See Warwick sing this 2 years prior w my parents in Florida. What a difference... began listening to him and jazz- never turned back. Bless the soul of Bill Graham and the temple of the Fillmore. Rip RRK.
I think it's a great composition (Burt Bacharach and Hal David). I enjoy listening to performances/recordings by Dionne Warwick, Aretha Franklin and RRK. All depends upon my mood at the moment. Sometimes I have a taste for thin crust, sometimes deep dish 😁
Might have been there. Was Tower of Power on the bill? Cheers
@@snakeoil115 I believe so but don’t remember being memorable. Or maybe just don’t recall since RRK snd Santana were explosive. Went to the late show and had to leave to get to school at 6:30 am- Santana was still playing..
@@golds04 Santana is STILL playing
I like that he brought along his hype man on his left there.
Rahsaan Heard him at McCormick place in Chicago early 70s. really miss all these old masters
this the best thing ive ever seen .
Amazing in every way possible.
Wow wow wow what a great video

I was hoping this was on video. A great performance that shows how fantastic a performer he was. Thanks to Dr. Marigaux for posting this!
Kirk dresses so beautifully! The piano on this is AMAZING! If you can hear me up there Roland Kirk, You were IT!
I saw this cat, man. He was awesome.
Remarkable
incredible
THANKS FOR THIS TREASURE!
Legendary....
FANTASTIC!!!!! Thank you for sharing this marvelous video clip. I saw Rahsaan in a club back around 1976. MEMORABLE show!!! Such incredible energy!!!!
Kirk had a major stroke which led to paralysis of one side of his body in 1975. He kept performing after that (I saw him before the stroke and after at The Jazz Workshop in Boston, while I was a college student). He died in 77. I don’t think he was even 45. My friend was a musical prodigy who introduced me to the man himself. I was in awe. One night? Rahsaan had a pre-teen female drummer from Roxbury sit in - Terri Lynn Carrington!
Amazing
wonderful
wow!!!! so amazing!!!
halleluia
such a jam
wish sound quality was better; it deserves it
It's miraculous enough that this bright moment was recorded at all, and that it was saved for decades until UA-cam came along and made it possible to share with the world.
The gig was filmed at the old Lino ( Linoleum) factory in Staines Middx. Then shown at the cinema. Led Zeppelin played a set.
How you say Mr kirk 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
