- In this week's Friday episode, Patrick and Stuart share video and images of their visits to two historic chateaux in the Dordogne region of France. They first tour the Château de Hautefort, which was reconstructed in the 17th century and has been host for several movies through the decades. Then they tour the Château de Jumilhac in Périgord that was constructed between the 13th and 17th centuries, and learn that there are noble family connections from Jumilhac to their Château de Colombe.

Join Patrick and Stuart on their journey to find a neglected, forgotten, or crumbling château or castle in France, and then continue to follow them as they work on its restoration, rénovation, decoration, and furnishing. Along the way, they will also create and share videos on their preparation for having gîtes for guests, and an event venue in their chateau (wedding, birthday, anniversary, organization or club meetings, retreats, etc.).

Incredible fortresses and great that they are being preserved. Greater still, that chateaus like Colombe are experiencing a new lease of life 👏👏
Thank you! 💕
How lovely Marie. You are right. It is nice to see chateaux being restored and preserved for the future. Love from us. ❤❤❤
Stuart & Patrick…. I love watching UA-camrs who are restoring the beautiful château. I am always amazed how the Artisan’s were able to build such beautiful buildings hundreds of years. As I watched the firstChâteau., Beaufort, and as with other shadows, they find absolutely beautiful, I am actually moved to tears. Especially the beautiful gardens and I sit here and I tried to imagine who lived in these. What were the people like and their history? Patrick, were you swooning over the beautiful copper in the second Chateau’s kitchen? Thank you for taking us along and the time spent editing your vlogs.
ThNk you so much
I tried responding multiple times. UA-cam might not like me 😂😂😂😂. Love your comment ❤
Really appreciated the history of the family of the Chateau and its connection to the other.
Hello Elle. Isn’t it amazing how many chateaux are connected through marriage and inheritances. Hugs to you ❤❤
The exquisite and elaborate boxwood garden was so beautiful without any flowers. The details in the patterns was just perfection.
I completely agree with you. Stunningly beautiful ❤
I was truly spellbound at this episode, guys. I was also spellbound at the approach to both Châteaux, and manicured gardens.
I just kept saying, "Oh! My god. "
It is heartwarming to know your Château is not in bad shape, and with the restorative work you do, it just keeps looking more and more beautiful 🎉❤😊
Have a lovely evening 👋
Thank you! ❤️
Hugs and thank you Cheryl. Aren’t the gardens amazing? It must be nice to have multiple gardeners! 😂😊😂. Our chateau is so much more liveable. But also not as impressive. However, we are happy here. ❤❤❤.
Such beauty and elegance. Thank you for taking us along.
Thank you ❤❤❤
Good evening @ Journey to the Chateau, I look forward to this every week it just makes my day. Love all the live comments and very humorous character’s on here. 👋🇨🇮
This is such a great community. We are lucky to have you with us. Sending you love 💕 and hugs ❤❤
As always, the music accompanying this video was superb, Stuart & Patrick! You both must have had a glorious time visiting the chateaux! They were awe inspiring!! Thank you for taking us along!! Blessings to you & the fur babies!! 🇺🇸
Thank you so much Jane. Stuart does all the videos and music. He is so talented. We really loved the tours and even though these estates are amazing, we are more than ever thankful for the chateau that is our home. Sending you love and hugs from Colombe ❤❤❤
Lol. Peepers! Lol! That would be me!!! Snooping!! Hee hee!!
Really great episode!! Just loved the history of the chateau’s and how yours was connected! Lots of love from Tennessee!!!
Hope all is well in TN. 😂😂😂. It was sooo interesting to be a peeper. 😊😂😊. We were stunned to learn about the connection. Amazing. Love from Colombe ❤❤❤
@@patrickjourneytothechateau9452 I know!! It must have be so exciting to find out the connection. I just love history love finding out new thins, plus snooping!! Lol!!
Omg! The humidity was bad here in western tennessee!! I’m outside a lot mowing trimming and cleaning stalls and other things. When living on a farm big or small there is always work to do!!
I’m thinking about canning cherry jam!! This recipe belongs to my 3 or 4 great grandmothers from Norway!! This jam I sold to restaurants!! People went crazy over this!!
The farmer down the road is planting beets in his garden. He said I could have some. So going to make pickled beets. Also sold to restaurants!!
I’m not planting a garden this year as I have soo much going on.
But I do love watching the both of you. Take care and lots of love from Tennessee!!
I think if I could spend a month bicycling all over France just visiting Chateaux and perhaps old Churches I would come back entirely renewed.
Especially after the hell that this year has been so far.
I loved visiting these Chateaux via UA-cam.
Thank you both.
♥️🇨🇦
Maria
Thank you Maria. Let me say that I hope the rest of the year will be better for you! 😊. There are group trips for cyclists visiting chateau and churches. I was tempted many years ago. Glad you enjoyed it. Very much appreciated your comment ❤
@@patrickjourneytothechateau9452 ♥️🇨🇦
The rooms you have restored and furnished are just as beautiful! I’m so fascinated by these chateaus and addicted to watching current owners spending so much time making their chateaus beautiful! If only I was younger…Thanks for sharing your dreams coming true.❤❤😊
Hi Linda. Thank you so much. We are enjoying the progress and restored elegance of our chateau. We enjoy seeing people helping to preserve the history but live in the buildings, unlike most huge chateaux who are completely uninhabited and strictly museums. Completely agree with you. Love from Colombe . ❤
What an amazing tour of these two chateaux. Love the history and connection to your chateau. The gardens were gorgeous and all those copper pots and pans in the kitchens. Just WOW 🤩 Thanks for taking us along 😍😘
Thank you so much for your support and positive energy. Means a lot to us ❤❤❤. From Colombe
Hello my darling Stuart and Patrick . Your vlogs in my opinion are the best on UA-cam as they always have great content. Everything from renovations and historical facts to entertaining guests. I love the humour between the two of you and what more can I say but well done and I adore you both. 🥰👏🏼🇨🇮
💕😘
you are so king darling. Love you
Yes yes! OMG does anyone think the clay colored bust looks a lot like Jane's Tony???
That was a great tour, the history, the beauty, wow! I have to mention the counter, the copper pots and fruit display in behind where you're sitting looks so homey and cozy! Thank you for this!
Thank you Norma. We do love our kitchen. The copper we saw….. fantastic. So glad you are with us. Hugs and love from Colombe ❤
That was really interesting Thankyou for whetting my appetite for a trip up the road to the next département . You are both so funny I love every episode. Must have been difficult to leave all those copper pots and pans behind. Wonderful gardens and topiary at Hautefort.❤❤👏👏👏👏
Thank you! 😃
Thank you Susie. The copper was tempting. …. But we have some lovely pots that we use. We need to go more often. Florence offered to come back. Hurrah. You’d enjoy it I’m sure. Great comment. Hugs. ❤😊❤
Fabulous job of filming these chateau, you gave us plenty of time to take in all the details and beauty of these monuments thanks for sharing with us love the Chanel.
Thank you so much Sandy. I wish I was remotely as good as Stuart in filming. Hugs ❤
How wonderful for you both to be able immerse yourselves in the fantastical living history of France, reminds me just how infantile the States are compared to Europe and I thank all chateau owners for sharing their beautiful homes and history with us.❤❤❤❤
Hi Judith. You a have a good point there. Although the US has been wonderful to me and I have met fantastic people and we maintain our friendships, living with this kind of history is absolutely 🎉. ThNk you for such a great comment ❤❤❤
I love your choices for the music.
Thank you Susan. It is all Stuart! 😊😊😊
Stuart, you photographed the perfect piece to drive Patrick insane with envy... that kitchen filled with more copper pots than one could ever imagine 😳!!!
😂🤣😂💖. Wasn’t that amazing? With the right scullery maid……. That would make for a great cooking vlog! Hugs from Colombe ❤❤❤
Beautiful. I've fallen in love with Hautefort. The sheer size has me blown away.
It is breathtaking. Absolutely stunning ❤
Thank you for the tours of the chateaus !
Thank you for watching. We love to explore these amazing places. And then to come home and be at home in our own chateau. Who could have ever thought we’d live in one? We didn’t. ❤😂❤. Hugs from Colombe
Thank you for yet another lovely video and stories. Hopefully the fact that your chateau was/is in much better shape will hearten you with progress through all of your own renovations. 👍
Thank you for watching. We love these massive buildings……. And we are so happy where we are. Challenging enough 😂😊😂. The state of our chateau makes me feel much better and the renovations we finished….. amazing. Love from Colombe ❤
I like the chateau you've shown us but for me its just an empty peace of bricks. Youre chateau I know and its filled with life and laughter and warmth. Youre chateau lives! Perhaps yours isnt that big or nice but to me it has just a little bit more ,it has you, Stewart and Patrick and all the doggies.
Thank you so much. I cannot agree with you more. Most of the huge palaces are today empty. Lovely to look at but lifeless. 😮😢. Some of our neighbours have said exactly what you mentioned. That we brought life back to the chateau. We truly appreciate your wonderful comment ❤❤
Gee so much to catch up! I have been so busy! I think the two chateaus are amazing. It reminded me of the ones I visited in Switzerland. It a fascinating connection to your Colombe gentlemen. 😘😘
Loved seeing the tours. The chateaus remind me of the Bitlmore near us in North Carolina. So large & impressive!
Thank you, Dodi! ❤️
They are so massive. Only with a lot of money can one keep these buildings in great condition. But I do fantasise about it at times….. 😂😊😂
I live in Asheville, NC and I’ve been to Biltmore many times but it’s still impressive!
What a beautiful tour Thankyou guys ❤❤❤
Thank you Sidra. We loved seeing these palaces. Hugs ❤❤❤
Very Interesting Trips
❤❤
Stuart always looks like he understands the German intro ❤ and mayb he does? 😁 Wow! Quel grandeur! So château ❤
Yes, I understand what Patrick says in German. 👍👍
I love that you picked up on Stuart understanding German. And those places were truly grand! ❤❤❤
I thought so too, by the way he nods on certain words or smiles. Stuart you can try for 2 sentences in French-we all know your French is better than you think.
Dear Stuart and Patrick, fascinating and magnificent chateaus. I love how there are ties to your chateau. Your collection of copper pots and pans on the wall behind you have grown. They really bring warmth and beauty to a kitchen. I’m happy you got some time to explore and visit new places in France. You need to get away from renovations once in a while. Many hugs ❤
Happy weekend Stephanie. We truly enjoyed to be out. Thank God for Florence. When we don’t have to worry, what a blessing. We definitely love seeing other chateaus. Inspirational. We will show a few of the ones we have in our region. Most are private but there are some that we can visit and share. We made a list of important jobs for the summer….. Oh dear….. it is a long-ish list. 😂😊😂. We stopped to actively look for copper. But extraordinary items…. Oh well. Love from Colombe to you and your loved ones. ❤❤❤
I can’t wait to see what you do next. Love from New Hope, Pennsylvania ❤
Chateau de Jumilhac is in our neighbourvillage…its so impressiv…..next time you come this way, we should meet….love your vlogs🥰
Hello Viviane. How amazing. We’d love to meet you when we are back. Huge thank you. ❤❤❤
You guys have become my Friday afternoon fix- so look forward to it.Loved seeing the chateaus - bet you guys came home with all kinds of ideas for the future - a maze perhaps?More paneling?
Wonderful music accompaniment - most loved the gardens ❤You two are just the best❤❤❤
I second those ideas! More boiserie!
Thank you so much Nancy. Indeed, we have some new ideas but they have to wait 😂😂😂. Stuart complied a list for the projects this summer…. 😮😮😮😮😮. But there will be mor paneling for sure. Love your comments ❤❤❤
@@betteurbain7911absolutely 😊
Hi sweeties. Dansed at a new location, it was nice.
Both chateaux were imposing , outside and inside.
Yes, a lot of chateaux in France are still disrepair. It's so expensive for the government to restore all of these chateaux. That's why they are so greatfull that none French people buy these chateaux and restore them, like you're doing. The habitants and mayor of Saint-Colombe are greatfull.
Have a great weekend. Hugs and kisses also for the furries.
🥰😘❤️🐕
So glad you had fun at the new location. 🎉😊. We loved both places and are even happier with our manageable chateau. It is true that there is so much to do and so many places to restore. You are absolutely right, most French people appreciate the work anyone does to leet the history alive. Love from Colombe ❤❤
I loved that second chateau is beautiful. Looks like proper castle. Love that it’s been restored. 💕
Hi Christine. Indeed, the center part is from the 12the century onward. Fascinating. The caves under our chateau are allegedly from the 12th or 13th century. It would be fascinating to get information on what stood here before. 😊. And that a Marquise from that chateau had family that bought our chateau……. How amazing is that? Huge hugs ❤
When you said on Wednesday's vlog that you are showing 2 chateau tours, I thought, oh no, not more tours. WTching this was nothing short of wonderful. I remembered scenes from both movies and saw those scenes on your tour. Also, how cool is it that your chateau has a connection with the other chateau. Stuart, your filming and editing are fabulous. I am so happy you both got away to see these chateau. Much love and hugs. Have a wonderful weekend. ❤
Thank you so much for this inspiring comment dear Peter. We truly appreciate your support. Hugs and love from Colombe ❤
To have been rebuilt in the 1960 it’s still spectacular. I can understand why they rebuilt. The view is amazing. Thanks for the tour ❤️❤️
Isn’t that amazing. They rebuilt and then in 1968 it burned again…. I cannot even imagine. 😮😢😮. The views are fantastic. But no one lives in these amazing places. That is why it is wonderful that they are still maintained. Hugs from Colombe 😊😊
Thanks for the trip out ❤
Wasn’t that fun!?! ❤😊❤
Hallo Patrick und Stuart, das war eine tolle Chateau Tour.Im 2.Chateau waren so schöne Kupfertöpfe in der Küche.Die Geschichte mit der Großmutter war auch interessant. Liebe Grüße Conny ❤
Hallo Conny. Freut uns, dass es Dir gefallen hat. Die Kupfertöpfe waren toll. Und die Geschichte……. Immer interessant. Sei gedrückt ❤❤❤
I love history! Thank you for sharing with us, marvellous.
Thank you Eva. ❤❤❤
💜💙💚 Stunning.
Thank you ❤❤❤
I do love a lit à la Polonaise.
There seems to be plenty left to marvel at the first Château, especially the gardens.
The XIV century section of the second Château was quite imposing and magnificent.
What an impressive collection of copper pots and pans they have. Can you imagine being the cook who needs that many? Special occasions must have been insane in that kitchen. Oh, and the poor scullery maid, she must have been a fright at the end of the night.
Speaking of copper pots and pans. Your collection seems to be growing too. Those look like great pieces.
Thanks for the tours of the Châteaux. Interesting connection to Colombe too.
❤ from TX!
Happy weekend Ray. I love a lit a La Polonaise too. The gardens (Stuart decided to skip that) at the first chateau had large parts that were not maintained. It looked pretty sad and many boxwoods were dead. The second chateau was so interesting. The centre castle is quite imposing. The 17th century wings are also very interesting and show the evolution of these amazing buildings. Loved the copper. Very impressive. We can only imagine the noise, smoke and hectic environment of the old days….. poor scullery maids indeed. 😮. I’m very happy with our copper collection and I use the pots. Love it. Hugs from Colombe ❤❤❤
What a wonderful tour. . That was a lot of châteaux. Hugh. Beautiful gardens and how you found a connection to your château. Must say, I like the intimacy of yours. I Can imagine living and growing up there. ❤️ 😍
💕😘
Thank you for the tours and the history lesson. So amazing. ❤
Thank you so much. Really appreciate your comment ❤❤❤
The two château are lovely and the family connection is very interesting. Take care my friends, Ralph Rocchiccioli
Hi Ralph. It was a coincidence that we picked the two chateaux. When the son of the former owner commented on Patreon that his family are descendants from the Marquise….. 😮😮😮. We were really stunned. Truly fascinating. Hugs my friend 😊
Great video. Both chateaux are beautiful and the gardens stunning. Thank you for sharing them with us. xxx
Hi there Gypsy. So great to see your comment. We couldn’t agree with you more. ❤❤❤. Love from Colombe 😊😊
Dss war sehr schon ich liebe geschichte danke ❤😊 alles liebe ❤😊
Ich freue mich, daß es dir gefallen hat. Wir lieben Geschichte auch. Herzlichen Dank und alles Loebe von Colombe ❤❤❤
That was so funny, watching you visit Hautefort…it is 5 kms from us! 😘
Wow. I’d say there are quite a lot of amazing people in your area. Love your comment. ❤❤❤
So nice to see other chateaux. It amazes me how huge some of them are. Thank you for the tours. ❤
Hi Deidre. I feel the same way. The sheer aside and then I think about renovations, heating, cleaning….. till I kick myself and say stop this, just enjoy. 😂😊😂. Hugs
Beautiful places!
It was amazing John. We will visit a few of the chateaux around us soon. It is always like a little vacation and sometimes very inspirational. Hugs and love from us at Colombe. ❤❤❤
What a lovely trip
To see, enjoyed it😊
Thank you Sharon. 😊❤😊
Excellente vidéographie lors de la visite des deux chäteaux. Merci
Merci beaucoup. C’est très gentil 😊❤😊
Hi Sweeties. I'll watch the vlog later. It's party time💃💃
Happy dancing sweetie❤
Thanks for sharing those beautiful chateaus. Hope you two had a nice break. 🫶🇨🇦
Thank you Lori. It was a lovely break and we enjoyed visiting the chateau. Hugs from Colombe ❤
Fantastic video, Stuart & Patrick. The chateau you visited were astounding. I have chandelier envy. 😊 The gardens were beautiful, as well. I wonder how many gardeners it takes to keep it looking that good.
Thank you for taking us to the other chateaus. In America we don't have these beautiful buildings. I'll take that back we do have a few but they are few and far between and I think used mainly as tourist attractions not really lived in by private individuals. Kathy USA 🇺🇸
Hi Kathy. You are so right. My 22 years in the USA were great but I did miss the history and historic buildings. Being in a church from the year 1000………. That is amazing. Love your comment. Thank you. 😊
Lovely as always. ❤ Wow! My head is swimming with dreams of grandeur.
Stuart, you are so talented. Your vlogs are always so well presented. However, your editing on this one was a masterpiece! Bravo! ❤
Big hugs to you both. ❤❤
Thank you darling Jayson. ❤❤❤. We just served breakfast to our Parisian B&B guests. They love the room and slept really well. Knowing the work involved in the renovation and upkeep……. I am now very happy with the size of our chateau 😂😂😂😂. Love to you two.
❤wonderful ❤
Thank you ❤❤❤
I agree , these family connection things are so facinating . Do tell us more about the history of your chateau, it is so enchanting to go in the past ! Love your videos ! Thank you ❤
Hi there. We agree. It is fascinating. We will visit the archives in Bourges and hope for an in-depth history of our chateau. Hugs from Colombe ❤❤❤
Fabulous, Thank you
Thank you ❤❤❤❤
Thank You for sharing ❤
Wow what a beautiful tour of the chateau's thank you for sharing them with us, beautiful and elegant and it was so nice to hear the history and it's connection to the other . nice music as always Stuart, love all the brass you have hanging up Patrick take care and see you both next time 💕🌼🤗
Thank you darling Carole. I too enjoyed the music and that copper collection.,… 😮❤😮. Amazing. Our collection is growing but we now only look for very specific pieces. Love from Colombe ❤❤❤
Wunderbares Video.
😮😊😮. Dicke Umarmung von Colombe 💕💖💕
Thank you for the tour. Lovely buildings!
Hi Daniel. Hope all is well. Thank you ❤❤❤
Hi Patrick and Stuart, So nice for you both to get out and tour the wonderful Chateau along way home. It is a shame that the cost of maintaining a Chateau of any size is so costly, the only way to make it work is to put is to good use as you have done and produce an income. You are both doing well by it. Keep up the great work. Mark & Scott
Thank you so very much. I have to say that I find it absolutely refreshing to read your comment. Indeed, we have to open the chateau to make it work. There are honestly people who ask us what we do for a living. 😂. We are relieved that we have quite a few number of bookings. UA-cam helps a lot too. I wish more people would subscribe and watch 😲🤣😘. Of course, every channel would like that 😂😂😂. And the people who support us on Patreon is giving us the ability for special projects. Always looking forward to reading your comments. Hugs from Colombe ❤❤❤
That was fun! Thanks so much! Love you guys!
Thank you so much Carla. ❤❤❤
Merci beaucoup! Especially loved the set for the death of Louis XIV at Hautefort, but that stone floor at Jumilhac (13:06). Wow.
Thank you. Aren’t those old stone floors just fantastic? The move set was really interesting. 😊. Hugs from Colombe
Loved seeing other Château s. Keep up your great work
Thank you very much Judy. ❤❤❤
I can’t imagine the cost!!!
It must be overwhelming. We just talked about that. One needs scaffolding for any exterior work……. $40,000 just to rent that…….. and then the work. Scary. I’m glad they are having a foundation that helps. 🥰🙏🏻👍🏻
Wow 😮stunning! And the pan collection behind you… I’m very envious 🤣 it’s nice to find connections and what a beautiful picture! 😍
Thank you so much. We now have some lovely pots and pans. And the connections are impressive. Hugs and love from Colombe ❤❤❤

Thanks for your hard work ,continued entertaining channel .
Thank you! 😊
Thank you very much indeed Mark. What a lovely comment. Made my day 😊😊😊
Steve and Sarah went to Hautefort also and I can say the gardens again hit one hard how beautiful and formal it is. I can only wish for such a garden and view. The other chateau interiors are well kept despite it's tragedies are inspiring. There was a chateau for sale on the US channel Erik Van Conover in France enormous but interiors and collections were macabre sort. I suppose some have to be on show to make up for the cost of renovations to them is a fact of life for most if not another business venture. I also liked the simplicity of the second garden can see the 60's colours. Thank you for venturing out and showing us around even in rain :)
It is true. The formal French gardens are stunning. The work it takes to maintain those gardens (Chateau de Villandry has 16 full time gardeners…….) and the costs for plants and salaries are mind blowing. Unless, one is independently wealthy, one has to open the chateau or run a B&B like us to make it work. This is why UA-cam and Patreon help a lot. So thank you for a great comment and for your support! ❤😊❤
That was a very enjoyable video of the two château. I think you’re a great couple and I like listening to you. I agree your château is lovely and you have made so much progress with it. You are both too talented people. I wish you the best with all your renovations.
Thank you so much!
Thank you very much for your very kind comment. We did get a lot done. I now see that. I always focus on what we have to do but viewers like you and guests reflect on what we have accomplished. It is very motivational. Hugs 😊
loved the tour !
Thank you Karen. ❤❤❤
Thank you so much for the tours and interesting history! ♥️
Thank you for liking it. We always do. ❤❤❤
Hi Patrick &Stuart! So good to see both of you. This was really interesting and absolutely Gobsmacked how much that your château is intertwined with others in one way or another. I find that very interesting. I was drooling it all that copper. Beautiful to look at that pain in the butt to keep up.
Patrick, I love your hair. It’s gotten so long. It’s beautiful. I have been getting ready for a trip to Germany and really hope to be able to float into France a little bit. I would love to come by and see you guys. Don’t know if that’s a possibility. I’m trying to look you up as where you located in France. I’m staying with friends In Bavarian area. Hope you both are doing well and are happy love from LIZ in California 🤟🏻💜😎🐬🥰🇺🇸
Hi here Liz. Isn’t it amazing how the chateaux are often connected? Who knew? We are always learning something new. I know what you mean about the copper…. 😂😂😂. Absolutely true. My hair…. 😮😊. Thank you. I was tired of the constant haircuts and thank goodness, I have a full head of hair ❤😂❤
We are smack in the center of France. Let us know if you want to stop by. Huge thank you and hugs from Colombe ❤❤❤
Hello my fellow friends. I think you were trying to say that the connection across multiple chateau’s eventually got chosen. It was a strange time and eventually had to regress on ownership. Which left many beautiful places wether chateau or huge farms etc to go to ruin
Hello u 2 from New Zealand.
Vlog was great & good 2 see you getting out & about in between working hard.
Your backgrounds always are very well put tog. Your copper collection is impressive.
Love seeing u both happy/relaxed & relishing yr new lives in France 🇫🇷 have 2 say what a great move it has turned out 2 be. Fondest regards. Victoria 👱♀️ & Richard 😎 ♥️ ❤️
Hello Victoria and Richard (I love your name by the way). 😊. So glad you liked the vlog. We need to show a few of the chateaux from our region. We have some amazing examples from all kind of periods. You made me actually look at the copper collection. It is really lovely and I use the pots. We expected a good life and it turned out better than we could have wished for. Yes, sometimes it is overwhelming and loosing dogs is never easy, no matter where one is. Hugs and much love from Colombe ❤😊❤
Wow to je kluci krásné propojení obou zámku, miluji historii. Mimochodem nevím kdo z vás dvou natáčel ta videa ale už jste opravdu profíci.
Hello Irena. Tha ‘ you so much. The videos are made by Stuart. ❤😊❤
Hi guys so interesting that you have a connection with one of the chateaus that you visited. So much history to dive into in your spare time. I see you have some catching up to do on your copper collection. Do you think they may have had a "couple" of grounds keepers. Very nice tours thanks for taking us along. Hugs and stay well.
It is amazing that history is all around us here. We love it so much. We will do a few visits in our region soon. I think I need to step up my copper ambitions now. 😮😂😮. Amazing. I use our copper pots and it brings me joy to see them in action. 😊. Both places have full time gardeners. Can you imagine? It is amazing and I’d feel overwhelmed. But we love to visit. Hugs and thank you for another wonderful comment ❤❤❤
Patrick, did you suffer from copper pot envy at Hauteforte? Stuart, great cinematography and music.
Hi Rochelle. I was quite amazed but the wonderful collection they have there. Ok….. I did have a bit of envy 😂😂😂. Thank you so much for your comment. ❤❤❤
Great Video!! I love history..
Hi Martha. Thank you so much. We too love history and all the lives that were connected to those buildings (upstairs and downstairs). Love from Colombe ❤
loved it
Thank you Ludovica. 😊😊😊
I am so pleased that you got out for a change! I understand it's hard to get away because of the dogs, but it seems a shame to live in France without "seeing" it.
Those gardens were amazing, no? I can't figure out how they trimmed the interior of the boxwood at Hautefort!
Thx for sharing your adventures 😊
It was such a treat. Our dogs love Florence. The gardens….. yes, amazing and then I think about all the work…😮😮😮😮😮. It is truly amazing. I cannot figure that out either. Huge hugs ❤❤❤
A new German word for me, in a phrase yet, holy canole!!!
🤣

I’m gonna call that Italian (cannoli)😂
I don’t have a clue why you don’t have more subscribers. People need to take advantage of all this fabulous and FREE content!! Subscribe people!!!! 😜
Thank you!💕
Veronica….. you are absolutely amazing. Thank you so much. We were talking about this too. Soo many channels with hardly any good content. No idea how it works. But, your comment made our day ❤❤❤❤
🤗🇨🇦👍
Thank you Wanda. 😊😊❤❤😊😊
Nice one. 😊 but why is everything soo busy with stuff. Poor cleaning person! 🤦♀️🇨🇦
Thank you. Just imagine that the rooms are almost bare compared how they were 200 years ago. And with a staff of 20-30 maids etc, one was spoiled then 😂😂😂😂. I always think about cleaning and upkeep too 😊😊😊. Hugs from Colombe ❤
I enjoyed the tours very much, especially the gardens and how different they were from each other. I have questions though so here goes. When you were driving down the road there were trees that had upright branches and then round bunches of leaves at the top of each branch. What are they and are they cut that way or do they grow that way? Then at the beginning of each show you greet your viewers in different languages, what are they?
The round bundles in the trees are mistletoe. They grow in the trees and are actually a parasite that can kill the tree. We welcome viewers in English, German (because Patrick is German), and French (because we are in France). Thanks!
Happy weekend Jeanne. Thank you so much. The trees are linden trees and they are pruned each winter to grow this was. We will plant some hopefully next year. As to the languages, Stuart greets the French viewers. Since we live here, we thought it was polite to be inclusive. And I greet our German viewers, since I was born in Hamburg. Great comment and great questions. Love it. ❤❤❤
@@patrickjourneytothechateau9452 Thank you for kindly answering my questions, I've seen those trees on other Chateau sites and wondered why anyone would trim trees that way. Your Chateau is beautiful and both of you are so talented and clever I enjoy watching very much.
Did your visits to these chateaus inspire your thinking about plans for Chateau de Colombe ?
Yes, we got some ideas but also a many confirmations that we made the right choices. Huge hugs ❤❤
Always enjoyable. I was thinking on your digital opening to each vlog you might want to update the old pictures of the courtyard and replace with a picture with the lovely fountain and lanterns and update the picture of the bedroom on there with your beautiful B&B room. Hugs.
Yes, we will, but it is a lot of work to update the intro, and the fountain landscaping is not completed, so we will wait until more has been done.
Stuart will do it when the planting is done. 😊😊
I hear about chateau fires but wonder what on earth would cause the fires. Any idea what a plausible explanation is?
Nothing I have read says the actual cause of these fires. The last one happened during the night, so I would guess fireplaces or candles. Old tapestries on walls are fuel for an open flame.
Hi Rita. That is a great question. It happens mostly with faulty electric wires. 😮😮😮. That thought is terrifying. That’s why we have John replace the 100+ year old wires. Hugs darling ❤😊
thank you so much for this share
Thank you Florence ❤❤❤
When are u going to visit Bret and Denises Chateau ?
We are working at the chateau with gite and bed and breakfast guests booked now for months, so probably not until our rental season is over.
As soon as we can. We love those two. ❤❤❤❤
Did you see something in one of the chateaus or gardens that gave you ideas for your own chateau?
We were hoping that might happen, but mainly these tours just confirmed that the decisions we are already making are all the right ones. Thanks!
Yes we did. We have a good idea of what we want. However….. we always learn and we loved that we saw. ❤❤❤
