Brilliant. I remember that 1984 team. Frightening, talented, awesome. It was like facing 3 George Foremans 2 Joe Fraziers and 4 Ali's with the odd Ken Norton and Larry Holmes thrown in. Wonderful even though my team was on the wrong end
Why do you guys take such jerks so seriosuly.. Anyone who saw the early West Indies team would know that they were the best team ever... My grand dad used to tell me how the West Indies team back then personified intimidation, courage, aggression and talent ! Sad to see their cricket lost the sheen eventually... Hope they make a proper comeback...Hope their fans dont lose interest in test cricket and fall for the T20 rubbish.. Im an Indian cricket fan....
Growth of football and athletics over there means that cricket is on the decline and only t20 is the saviour. This sadly means that we may no longer see the greats that West Indies produced in the 70s,80s and the 90s. It's all about t20 now
Theres been some great cricket teams in the history of test cricket 1-would be bradmans team of 1948 2- chappells team of 74-76 and 3- west indies of 1984
George Headingly, the three 'WWW's and don't forget Lance, Gary, and Les...if you can't appreciate and applaud how great they where and hopefully will be again, Cricket will be magnificent again.
Oh, yeah and no country did it bigger than Barbados. Barbados history in cricket is what Canada is to ice hockey and Brazil is to football. Top notch cricket history. Just peep the great names.
I am from india, and I have heard that cricket's popularity is decreasing in West Indies. Why is it so??but Barbados still likes it's cricket doesn't it??
+gtaquizmaster strong American media impact on youth. low compensation for west indian cricket, ailing and stagnant economies, and small media market for advertisers (thus few lucrative sponsorships for west indian cricketers)
seriously dude take a break. Take your pseudo-patriotism someplace else. West Indies were and probably still are better than Indians in cricket. And I am an Indian!
I'm a huge West Indies cricket fan and I have to say that India and Australia are head and shoulders above everyone else in test cricket now and the WI lag far behind everyone else in ODI cricket also. We are quite good at T20 cricket where we can compete strongly with the other teams but it's going to take a while before we are back up there as the best team and we have already been in the wilderness for a long time i.e post 1995
@Riyan Sanklecha Thats why I used the words after "right now" because India just beat Austrailia in their back yard. Who knows if they will be as dominant as the other teams and periods of time that you mentioned. Lets see.
At 2:50 - "It is the only test playing nation which doesn't represent one country." But I thought the 'England' test side represented England and Wales. Have I missed something here?
England and Australia were pulverised in 1984-86. Reality check would have been against a full strength SA team in the same period. From 1986-87 to 1988, the same England team beat WI in 9/10 ODI"s.
It's not dead cricket is still massive in the Caribbean the problem is we are just not good at i anymore. If there is a country where cricket had died its got to be Pakistan, when was the last Test Match played there ?
@@jahno7154 march v bangladesh. And despite not playing since 2009 at home.. pak won a t20 world cup, a champions trophy, beat england twice in a test series yes and thats when no one else could beat england. Oh and they even for a short time made it to number 1 in test cricket and number 1 in t20 for 3 years up and till recently. ALL THIS when as YOU say cricket has died in pakistan. So do some fact finding before making comments. Mic drop now piss off
Proud to be a west indian everytime i meet someone from a cricket playing nation i tease them about how great the west indies is
No cricket team has ever been as good as the West Indies team in 1984. Humiliated England and battered Australia both in away series
09:30 who is Radman?
The greatest game on earth!

A bit racist no?

Whispering Death. The Greatest Nickname for any sportsman. Ever. Said it all and so much more.
In the 80s when cricket was playing my father would stick to the radio 📻
Nice to know that the sugar industry was responsible for my accurate throwing ability. Thanks, prof!

This is a superb documentary. The choice of music at the beginning is also perfect.

This is great stuff.

My mother migrated to England in 1955 and and would often told me how she was rediculed on the job and through the streets of London by the English.😢😢
