  • Hello again and thanks for clicking on this content - I really appreciate it!
This is a video of my amazing trip from London to Sofia, Bulgaria with British Airways in Club Europe (Sofia vlog). In this video, I'll tell you all about the flights and the easiest way to get from the airport to the city centre. I stayed in central Sofia for a couple of nights and walked around most of the sights - many of which I'll show you in this video. I even managed to sneak into the national stadium and had it all to myself - a very eirie experience!
Despite very poor weather in Bulgaria, I really enjoyed what was my first trip there. The flights with BA in Club Europe, were very good although the lounge at Sofia Airport is not particularly good in my opinion.
Anyway thanks for watching my stuff and if you'd like to subscribe and/or leave a comment/thumbs up that would be really appreciated. Here's a link to my other social media accounts:

Another great video, Mark. Just one note: Christmas in Bulgaria is not on December 25th, but 13 days later (Eastern Orthodox calendar}, which will possibly explain why it wasn't heaving, like in Shrewsbury, on that day... 😊

@@LetsMakeaTrip I am watching absolutely *all* of your fantastic videos (and have been doing so for months), Mark, along with those of Steve Marsh and Scott Manson. In fact, I am going to be following in Scott's "footsteps" in August, taking the London to Sofia coach (returning from a visit to my folks in the UK after 5 years' absence to my home of 38 years in Greece). Looks to be an amazing trip. 🙂

Nice report. I was in Sofia in January, and the weather parity much identical when I was there. Sofia Airport was fairly nice and very spacious but the food offering was very basic.

Aviation Fan UK yes the lounges were not up to much. Good connectivity from the airport to the city centre though. Shame about the weather as the mountainous scenery is quite something I gather!

@@LetsMakeaTrip yes, I took the (rather rickety) cable car up Mount Vitosha to 1800 metres ASL at the end of last October. Indeed, it is an impressive place to see, weather-permitting...!

Man with that openning shot you had me thinking they were using a 747 for service to Sofia, you can't be tricking me like that XD
Great stuff though. Subscribed for sure

Haha, that would be amazing wouldn’t it! I have got a trip planned for November in Club World upper deck 747 to SFO - can’t wait for that one. Thanks for the comment 👍

My last flight from LHR was on Club Europe too. I was disappointed of the buffet. The UK had Colonies and BA isn't able to offer some Indian food. To be honest Lufhansa offers a better buffet at their lounge at Munich.
The only positive thing was that you could refilll your plate how often you wanted.
And the flight had been taken 6 month before the first lockdown came.

Seems so long ago now watching this video back! How things have changed. I think the food in the lounge is picking up now and the order/deliver to your seat I think is really good. I haven’t travelled in club since early last year as I just don’t think it’s worth it atm. However, I did get a really good deal to Malta a few months back so I will be reviewing that at the end of August. Thanks for the support and comments 😊👍

Nice video as usual, still chasing status? :) I had thought about Sofia for a day trip on Ryanair, but at 3h+ each way would make it a short stay on the ground!

Travel Signal yeh I think it’s worth a couple of nights if you can manage it. It’s a good 45 mins to the city centre on the metro so you need to get there pretty early to make a day of it. Hotels are reasonably cheap still and BA will earn you 160 points in business. I’m on 615 Pts at present and BA said today they’re extending status and reducing targets by 25% which is good news!

I’m taking this flight in March so it was very helpful and enjoyable too. So from Sofia airport I can take a train direct to the city centre is this correct . Also if ok to ask what was the name of your hotel as it looked nice . Cheers 👍

Hey thanks for the comment! If I can help: unless things have changed as a result of COVID-19, the Metro is just to your left as you come out of the airport. Buy a ticket from machine (easy use card) and get on the next train. They all terminate here so it shouldn’t matter which as they all go towards the centre. I stayed at the Best Western Premier Collection City Hotel which is just up from the Alexandar Nevski Cathedral (the one on the thumbnail) so if you get off the metro at Kliment Ohridski Metro stop you won’t be far off. Hope this helps and have a good trip!
