I can remember when we were hoping to either get the five pack of either winstons are the unfiltered pall mall brands.... I did basic in 84 so I'm wondering what year did they stop putting cigarettes in them?
MREs are a great idea for SHTF if: you are on the road, and: have some ability to carry stuff beyond what's on your back. For home hunkering in, you don't need to pay for the admittedly excellent heater, canned goods will serve you just as well. MREs are excellent, but they're designed for the military. At home where you have cooking facilities (at least a camping stove) and weight doesn't matter there are many alternatives with more bang for the buck.
Meh, I hated these reduced sodium ones. The standard military ones are better. The first strike ones are pretty good too. However, France has some of the best mre meals.
I got these low sodium ones for $15 a case and felt I wasted my money. The low sodium variants were all absolutely foul compared to their standard versions. I would avoid them and just buy standard canned goods at Walmart.
I don't understand why they give you jelly with the mre. Put the water in the heater bag and shake it. I couldn't get these heaters to evenly heat the meal unless I laid the meal flat.
You definitely need to supplement the chili mac with Fritos. All the rest pretty much just need peanut butter and fresh fruit if you can get it. Vegetarian lasagna can go fly a kite.
Seems unusual to have so many vegetarian meals included. usually it's' more meat meals with just two vegetarian meals. A good video, thanks for the information.
You can buy canned pasta from any grocery store, WalMart/Target, and sometimes even convenience stores. Chef Boyardee, and etc. Pop Tarts don't have much of a shelf life though.
Ahh but do you want to carry around a can of pasta? MREs are more of a convenience thing than anything else. Having it all right there together And a way to cook it. Something you could throw in a bug out bag or stash for emergencies. I guess you could try making your own MREs cheaper! Now there's a good video idea!!
I come from the era when everyone traded big time for the peanut butter and crackers to plug yourself up for a little relief from disentary...and the catfood loaf sucked...lol
I don’t see many good reviews on this brand of MRE, especially on Cheaper Than Dirt, where these things are going for $25 a box, but then again a whole 14 pack usually costs $60 and when good MRE’s are usually $10 a pack you know they cheaped out on their inventory, my opinion is replace the pop tarts as usually they are garbage. Replace the flame less heaters as apparently they are mostly broken. That’s about it
Been eating Sopakco MRE's for 3 weeks straight. For God's sake Sopakco please put another flavor of Pop tart besides Brown sugar! It seems to be the only one they put in them. I would trade 7 case's of Sopako for one real actual case of military MRE'S.
These are junk, out of a whole case only ONE frh worked properly and it was packaged differently, if you want some actual quality mre's just go for the military's ones
When you said that stuff was actually good and we’re gonna finish it up for lunch that is when I instantly assumed that you were being paid by someone to make this review for sure! Gonna pass on this product after watching this review because there is no Honesty here in my opinion and the dark glasses hides the lies in his eyes. No disrespect to anyone and that is just my honest opinion.
Who else craves MREs sometimes??
I like the suprises of opening things.
I think the newer ones are pretty good, but I am from the dehydrated pork patty era of MREs.....
@@gman9945 me too, those were pretty rough, and the ham & turkey loaf...yuk.

Thx for sharing, never really saw anybody cook on video. Pretty cool stuff how that heats up and who doesnt love Tootsie rolls and pop tarts!!!
Thanks!
2:21 the audio switch while wearing headphones made me flinch and scream! It’s 5 AM!
They just passed these out to Pensacola, was curious what might be in it. Hoping to not get hit with another hurricane, we were wrecked by Sally.

Nice review. I keep spare accessory kits for the Sopako Reduced Sodium MREs. Blessings 👍🏼
$9.35 for $2.00 in Spaghetti-Os, Pop Tarts, crackers, and Tootsie Rolls. Yep. That's a military supply company. 🙂
Haha, when a case of military MREs was $80, it was almost worth it.

I have a case of these with a 216 inspection date that I will be reviewing next month
Awesome video, just ordered a box, I'll be ordering more actually 👌
What’s that plate you are using? Thinking about picking up one for myself.
Thank you

Hmmmm...............I wonder why it doesn't come with coffee of some sort of beverage powder.

I thought the vegetarian lasagna was the better tasting one. Heh…
I have a couple boxes of these MRE’s
These aren't bad. Not great but they are cheap so there's that.
Agreed!
Loving all the cuts; bubba couldn't keep it straight.

Same, thanks Laura.
If you’re lucky you can get blueberry or strawberry. We got a dozen of these after Laura.
Just got electric and WiFi back a couple of days ago.
You got all the worst MREs.... 😂
No gum? aww shucks
Who doesn't like a video with lots of pee-nays!
This is product is over priced and large for a true survival food. there are better options.
These are junk, out of a whole case only ONE frh worked properly and it was packaged differently, if you want some actual quality mre's just go for the military's ones
$150.... F that
They’re down to $109 now
If your state gets hit by a hurricane you can get them for free.
