👍Nice video Joe. Nice to see a hard-working entrepreneur doing what needs to be done, to keep your inventory stocked up, which leads to happy customers. Plus, the great video footage is a nice added bonus! 👍
Always you never cease to encourage me. I'm up to do a round of my clients this morning and was struggling to face the day. And here you are freezing and productive. Have a great day. 🤠👍👍👍👍👍
No way! You actually did it. I was expecting to see you edited back into your house with a cup of hot cocoa 🤣 and you saying “Psych!”. Ha ha. Elaine from Canada here, impressed with how you got all the snow off and belts unstuck. What a machine indeed. Thanks for proving it’s wintery stamina (and yours and the camera person too !) Cheers.
Yes Joe it's definitely Winter out. Not much snow on the Ground but Plenty Cold out. That Jappa 405 is an excellent processor. Hopefully getting out tomorrow to cut more Rounds up. STAY SAFE BUDDY and WARM. See you at the next Video. Ron from the Woodyard in Duanesburg NY.
I'm up north and it's cold a damp cold sitting in the house and still chilly but on blood thinners so no antifreeze in me just make sure keep your feet warm just take care stay warm are try and if going anywhere watch out for other people driving
@ohiowoodburner they seem to get cold then seems like you get sick quicker good for you I just get out to go to store and stock up cause heart surgery and lung stuff going on weather hard to handle any more thanks for getting back to me take care
I was running a pretty dull chain so I had the pressure dialed up. When I use the sharp chain you have to turn down the dial bc the cutters will do the work themselves. With that added pressure and the stiff hydraulics it really taxes the engine!
The more I watch the perfect split create uniform size firewood the more it seems the only way to go the trade-off of time for retracting to split again and again seems to be minimal and well worth the time and a bit more cost creating a consistent size uniform end product for consuming
I agree. Besides I think the obsession with time is overblown when I am able to make a cord of firewood in less than 45 min. That's fast enough for me! Thanks Linda
For a Kiwi from Hawkes Bay that start up of the 405 was compulsory viewing Joe. Wow can't believe the amount of snow you had to shift. I suppose it warmed you up! Great photography mate. Cheers from HB NZ
Thanks Cliffy. Honestly the snow totals have been very low this winter. We have been cold but not any big snow amounts. But closer to the lake they had big storms with 90+ cm
Brrr, I feel the cold from NE Ohio even in Europe, but your “red black PA Tuxedo” will keep you nice and warm Joe 🤘 Hope the Japa has an oil temperature gage in its display, very useful to monitor when the machine is realy to operating temp before giving it the beans. We are slightly below freezing now and my oil temp takes 10-15 miles before it gives the go to start pushing the good old Diesel. Much more relevant than a coolant temperature gage to me…
Hey Joe, did I miss it or didn't you tell us what species the logs were (except for the one oak log)?! Well, here's my time to shine: From all the white on the logs on the table, I can tell that it was all birch for sure! Glad I could help out and clarify that for you. 😉 Greetings from (also frosty) Germany ✌
Looks like you got hammered pretty hard with ice and snow Joe, and that always complicates hydraulic run equipment. One good thing about JAPA equipment is that they were designed to operate in the harsh Finnish winters, winters long and cold that make Ohio winters sometimes seem rather insignificant. When you’re a full time “woodhound” I guess you just have to kinda be like the U.S. postal service and say “neither ice, sleet, nor snow will keep me from my appointed rounds to deliver firewood to my shivering friends.” Hang in there Joe! 😅
I think you need a much bigger building to keep that snow out. Is there no way you could rig some type of tarp system that you could pull up like a window blind to keep the snow out????
The roof for me is more for the sun in the summer. I don't think any carport would keep the snow off the way the wind blows around here. Regardless this set up is good enough for me. If the snow is too much of a headache I just wouldn't make any firewood
I almost stopped by on my way through on Friday, but said to myself, "There's no way Joe would be out in this weather." I guess I'll have to rethink that now.😂
Hey there, David from KC here... As they say in the business the snow must Go on , or something 😅 . Quick question, what are you using for footwear for the cold?
It would be much more efficient if you just add more sheets to keep elements off equipment or even 6mill poly to infrastructure. Think left brain mode Joe
That quite the machine, definitely takes some time to get things moving again after the snow. With that clean screen at the splitter do you find that the roller screen gets much more fines? Stay warm. 🪵🔥🥵☕️🚜

Thanks for the nice comment Rural!
Winter wonderland in Ohio! Here’s to a safe winter on those roads, Joe. 👍
Thanks Dave. I just drove yesterday to Winchester Va and back. Long day, bad roads especially in the morn!
Always you never cease to encourage me. I'm up to do a round of my clients this morning and was struggling to face the day. And here you are freezing and productive.
Have a great day. 🤠👍👍👍👍👍
thanks Lance. I have my moments though. Today may be one of them LOL
Nicely done, joe. I have been dealing with mud the last 2 weeks at my friends' log yard, and it will still be here for a while, too.😉👍
Mud is just as bad! I feel your pain.
No way! You actually did it. I was expecting to see you edited back into your house with a cup of hot cocoa 🤣 and you saying “Psych!”. Ha ha. Elaine from Canada here, impressed with how you got all the snow off and belts unstuck. What a machine indeed. Thanks for proving it’s wintery stamina (and yours and the camera person too !) Cheers.
haha. Trust me Elaine, that was the case when I was done with this one. My face was frozen for the rest of the day lolol

Thanks Ron, you too, stay safe out there!
Also I recently tried that snow blowing technique! It has its uses here and there 👍
I like the battery powered one. Much easier to use and don't have to worry about it starting
Good taking care of your equipment. It'll take care of you!
Thanks, I know what you mean.
Good morning Joe great phone conversation yesterday. Sorry our roads were still snow covered. Good video just a man with his machine😂
It was great speaking with you both. Hope you bounce back soon Larry!
And I was just thinking how the snow is slowing me down, haha! Love the display of discipline it takes to get the job done 👊🤠👍
Thanks Sam. It has to be done!
New slogan for this time of year: Cool White Firewood for sale. 😊
haha that's about right Derek. I'm offically done with winter!
Good "fun in the snow" video 👍 Nice to see what you have to do to get started in less than ideal conditions. Good looks splits 😊
Thanks Lyle. That is what was best of this vid. The firewood was awesome!
Those big logs make a load of firewood fast! Joe if you're cold run the axis to stay warm.
That is the case zeke but my axis is back at the house snowed in currently. Hope to get it moved sooner than later
get your hand held blower to move snow off equipment, also need ski hat and heated vest (Milwaukee)
I need spring...soon! haha. Thanks Carol
I'm up north and it's cold a damp cold sitting in the house and still chilly but on blood thinners so no antifreeze in me just make sure keep your feet warm just take care stay warm are try and if going anywhere watch out for other people driving
If my feet are cold, I call it a day and go home! LOL. Thanks Kevin
@ohiowoodburner they seem to get cold then seems like you get sick quicker good for you I just get out to go to store and stock up cause heart surgery and lung stuff going on weather hard to handle any more thanks for getting back to me take care
Gawd I'm glad I live in Florida!
haha... Too hot for me down there...
If you get a garden sprayer and put washer fluid in it spray your belts
That could work smitty
I’m amazed the saw demands that much horsepower when the hydraulics to the splitter didn’t bog the engine a bit.
I was running a pretty dull chain so I had the pressure dialed up. When I use the sharp chain you have to turn down the dial bc the cutters will do the work themselves. With that added pressure and the stiff hydraulics it really taxes the engine!
You need a backpack blower. Blow all the snow off everything
haha... just one more motor that won't run! LOL.

WHAT A TROUPER! Freezing your face off just for us. That Japa is a beast!
It is the least I can do Bill! lol.
Japa PerfectSplit is awesome...
It sure is Ben. Great machine!
Nice production 👍
Thanks Famas

It has a thermometer on the side of the sight glass but I don't think i have ever looked at it LOL.
Joe you could still be working in a heated office cubicle! 😎😂😇 Tim in snowy northern TN
haha... I would take this anyday over the office!!! Thanks Tim!!
Nice video. Nice job. Bud
Thanks Ralph
Interesting, thanks.
Glad you liked it durgan!
Howdy Joel it looks like you were having way too much fun in the snow
haha. I am officially tired of the snow Mr Hill. Bring on Spring!
Hey Joe, did I miss it or didn't you tell us what species the logs were (except for the one oak log)?! Well, here's my time to shine: From all the white on the logs on the table, I can tell that it was all birch for sure!

Well said my friend. The Japa is a lot better in dealing with the cold than I am LOLOL
How often do you need to sharpen the blade on the chainsaw part ?
The chain lasts about six tables of logs
I think you need a much bigger building to keep that snow out. Is there no way you could rig some type of tarp system that you could pull up like a window blind to keep the snow out????

haha. I can't remember but I don't think I was at the yard friday. I think this vid was filmed last week. It is hard for me to remember!
@ohiowoodburner It was 14° when I went by. LOL!🤣
How's the sales goin in the cold weather Joe??
Sales are on fire Greg!
@ohiowoodburner 72° sunny here in Estero Florida, Joe.... Brought my 90 yr old Pop's down to our place to get some vitamin C&D!!
good cold morning question how long does it take for you to clean off all the snow before you can make any ire wood good video nice job joe
it doesn't take that long. Prob I could have started the machine first and had all the snow removed before it warmed up
Might want to invest in a bigger cover for that. And is that the greatest bent broom?
haha. The broom got too close to my tractor a few weeks back!
Hey thought about smallest wood toothpick I wonder how. Many you get from a facecord
I could be a millionaire!
Northeast Ohio weather
It has def been winter this year. Nothing like the previous two winters. Still in our area we have avoided the big snowfall totals
@ohiowoodburner just
Was that Hickory? Still loving the Japa!
This was all maple and cherry and a lone oak log that got mixed up with the rest
@@ohiowoodburner Oh! I am having a hard time identifying all these species. Thank You
Great video Joe. Joe do you put your debris tote bladders on top of pallets so you can move them with tractor and forks ???
I don't. My forks slide under them easy enough.
Hey there, David from KC here... As they say in the business the snow must Go on , or something 😅 . Quick question, what are you using for footwear for the cold?
I have a pair of Thorogood boots from Merrill Wisconsin. Very nice and insulated
Why do people cut firewood in snowy cold weather it dont start to dry till warm hot weather anyways moisture freezes into wood in this weather
I am a full time delivery service. We deliver and produce wood all year
You look a little under dressed for the weather! I’d prob be wearing a face shield or balaclava and a jacket with a beanie as well lol
It was the wind that got to me filming this. My right side of my face was numb LOL
It would be much more efficient if you just add more sheets to keep elements off equipment or even 6mill poly to infrastructure. Think left brain mode Joe
Those are the things I just can't get myself to do Joe LOL.
Equipment abuse having it outside in the weather Looks like your carport does nothing to stop the elements.
The carport is for me...not the equipment
Hi Joe, you must stop working in the snow. It's pretty hot in South Africa and seeing this makes me shiver. Your videos are appreciated. Greetings.
haha... I am very fickle with the weather. I could use a hot day for sure. Thanks for watching from South Africa! Hope I can visit there one day
@ohiowoodburner You are welcome to visit, but first you will have to learn the Afrikaans language , because my English isn't all that good. 😉
That quite the machine, definitely takes some time to get things moving again after the snow. With that clean screen at the splitter do you find that the roller screen gets much more fines? Stay warm. 🪵🔥🥵☕️🚜
seems the mulch type waste gets cleaned out by the Perfect Clean. The roller cleaner seems to be mostly kindling stuff
Hello from Kuopio, Finland👍
