I'm glad you talk about the economics of your business. We've always emphasized running our businesses debt free and not needing to buy new stuff to impress customers or anyone else, this has served us well as it seems to be for you also.
I don't want to operate like a Spartan but I do find value in simplicity. Everyone makes a big deal out of using FE loaders to scoop etc but I think by the time they get that started up and moved around I could have my simple F150 loaded by hand
Oh my, you may have to have to have a serious talk with Mrs. Camerawoman 🤣we had a good giggle on that one. I’m also feeling proud that we had above freezing here in Saskatchewan. I’ll try and send the warmer weather to you. 😁
Hi Joe - it’s Big Rodders in Ireland. I was surprised to see you in long trousers as I thought your short one were surgically attached to you! If you believed our news coverage of your artic conditions and wild fires in California you would think the US of A was facing Armageddon at present.
I like seeing you in the red and black! Elaine from Canada here, my grandson wears his often in the chilly weather. Great conversation explanations, camera and editing. Hope it warms up a bit for you, have a great week. Cheers
Yessir,I've been listening to the woodhounds podcast, the world's number one firewood podcast,on Bluetooth headphones at night while splitting under the lights,it helps pass the time for sure.lol
Good morning Joe your truck concerned me we had ford trucks that the Lugnuts would get loose. Could also be brake caliber or wheel bearing. Take care and be safe, my friend.
Get yourself a can of silicone spray. Spray that on a cloth or paper towel and wipe them door gaskets with that and the doors should not freeze shut you have a great day
i am upstate ny so lots of snow also. i have ford f-150 4wd 10 speed tranny and i get in 20's mpg if not hauling. hauls my 10,000 lb excavator but i did put air bags in it to help it out. best truck i have ever had and i have had alot. hey be nice of you could rent that big yellow barn i see in your video. you could do all your work in it and be out of the weather.
Hello Joe, I enjoy your channel and I watch every episode. Regarding your truck do s freezing shut, I had the same problem with my 2000 Ranger. I found that keeping a liberal coating of Pledge polish on the seal and mating surface solved the issue. Give it a try. Keep up the good work!
Good morning Joe. Totally concur with driveline choices. Besides , who wants more maintenance with 4wd? Unless you are a high school student needing that high school truck.
The more times you touch the snow does it become more valuable! Lol. I’m kinda thankful we are gonna have a nice long cold snap! So sick of mud all winter long!! Good day joe! Thanks for the entertainment!
I always enjoy watching your videos.. you put a lot of time and thought into the production. Your camera operator is excellent. I have been watching since you got your first bundle wrapper.. Another reason to load the firewood up by the cab first , is truck stability... You don't want to put the load behind the rear tires...
Putting Vaseline onto the for seals prevents them Beeing roped out when freezing Also for the lockspray WD40 and there will be no issue in the deepest frost
The WD 40 works good but the CRC Dry PTFE lube works even better because it dries after you spray it and when you put your keys in your pocket (if you drive a vehicle with door locks and an ignition key) it won't stain your clothes.
Just came in from breaking my snow shovel . So headed over and will try amlenards snow shovel and hopefully it will work well. Not fun to shovel with a spade.🤪 just in case you needed to have that tidbit of knowledge. 🤠👍👍👍👍👍
I'm wearing the same red / black shirt (although 3 sizes smaller hah) while working outdoors We call it the 'Paul Bunyan' shirt. Maybe we will have 2" of snow tonight which is very seldom happening in W-Europe for the last 10-15 years.
Had 8 degrees yesterday morning & about 9 1/2 - 10 inches of snow which is the most we've had in S. E. Ohio for bout 8 yrs. Jo's, did you ever think of getting a really good set of snow tires for your truck??? Just a thought. Drive careful and be safe. See ya next!!@
You are telling me Joe it's Cold out. It's been that way for Us up here in NY. No Snow on the ground yet, but Windy and Bitter Cold. Wind Chill between -5 and +5. I was able to cut some Rounds cut up on Monday and hopefully again this Friday and Weekend before more Wind comes Back. Try some Spray Silicone on the Weather Stripping around the Doors to keep them from Freezing. Great Video as always and see you at the next one. Ron from the Woodyard in Upstate NY.
Here in Oregon it almost seems dumb to own a 2wd, but we haul by the cord. I find myself using 4 low all the time just to take strain off the drive train getting into customers fun driveways. But I do have a buddy that does over 130 cords a year in a 70s Chevy dually with always dangerously bad tires and he somehow manages with it all poached from skid roads most wouldn’t travel. Matter of preference I guess. Iv thought about getting an old 2wd dually to build a dump truck out of when my yard is in service
Iv never seen one of those trucks or heard of them having that diff lock. Must be a rare option but a good one most just have a limited slip that just kicks in once one spins or their just a single wheel spinner.
Wait lol the two wheel drive has bad traction ? Hilarious. I do enjoy your content i really do. Back to my previous question about 4x4.......meh who needs 4x4 in Ohio lol stay warm . Hopefully you don't get stuck.
Most tire stores nowadays will require you to buy 4 winter tires for a auto. The exception to that rule is a RWD auto. . In my experience a rwd with a traction tire on the rear, and a decent limited slip, or locker will go most anywhere on a proper road. . Worst case, pack a set of chains to keep the law happy. . To get winter tires on just the front of a FWD auto, or just the rear of a 4x4 you would have to get them mounted on rims, and install them at home. Granted not all tire stores follow the same set of rules. 0.01c
I think that is the rule in mountain states but not here in Ohio. I think tireshops are leery with all wheel drive cars. I don't know of anyone here that puts winter tread on anymore. Seems Fwd put an end to that
@@ohiowoodburner get a piece of plywood that's what they did at tree company cheaper than a window just saying better than nothing thanks for getting back to me and stay warm and safe
Frozen door seals? Easy as spraying them with WD40. Have an old '99 Chev Lumina that I was starting to have a lot of trouble getting into in the winter. Mentioned it to some guys one day at church, and one of them said "Just spray some WD40 on them". Problem solved quickly and easy!
I don't think you mentioned that a 350 truck would also sit alot higher then your 150 so it would make loading/unloading by hand all that more difficult..
I would much rather burn firewood than sell firewood in NE OH. You may want to consider buying some MSTR to get your money working for you instead of working for money. Price CAGR (5 years): 81.58%
a lot of that "prep" work could be offloaded if there were a couple of grandkids ... maybe Emily could help out now that the degree is out of the way ... (smile)
Joe it's obvious through trial and error you've figured out what works best for you. And to operate a business with integrity is the only way to be a businessman. Pretty sure you've figured that out as well. Too modest to toot your own horn. That's ok, we'll toot for you. Be well sir.

Thanks for the link to the world’s greatest wheelbarrow. One of these days I will have to order one. This just made it even easier to do so.
You will love it John. No kidding here...great tool! Thanks for watching buddy

That would be me Davey!
LOVE THE SOUND OF FRESH SNOW CRUNCHING UNDER TIRES !
agree. It is a cool sound
It must be -6C/20F to make it that powdery snow and crunch!
“Looks great for the customer”. What a strong statement! 👏🏻🇺🇸. From the wood yard till delivery appearance is a positive for a sale. 🇺🇸👏🏻👍🏻
Thanks Larry. It is all about adding value to your operation. Seems too many people are focused on price
No school the last two days in NE Kansas. Foot of snow, layer of ice, and 40 mph wind gusts for seven hours makes things tough.
That is some brutal weather buddy.
@ it was pretty terrible.
I enjoyed watching Joe Stack Wood.
We need to see more of that.
It is almost a daily occurance
I totally understand the 2wd and 4wd truck. This time a year i am in lots of mud, and 4wd is super handy. The rest of the year it's worthless. 😉👍
I really think I prob only need the 4x4 once or twice a year. Seems like a lot of money for something you will not use

You can buy a can of silicon spray and use that on the weatherstripping. No more sticking doors.
Good idea Paul!

Morning Joe thanks for the video I appriciate you,
thanks Jesse. The feeling is mutual
Morning
Look at Leonard 2 wheeled carts. Don’t have to balance them with heavy loads . I have 2 we can move some wood quick! 👍
I am considering them...for me it would be just one more tire to go flat! LOL

I will wipe a little Vaseline on the door seals for the winter here in WV. It seems to work pretty good.
That would do a good job for sure buddy
Good video joe stay warm
Will do Bob. Thanks
stay warm Joe. Looks like we have more snow moving in Friday, probably be out to you by the weekend.
That is what I am hearing too. Hope it ends sooner than later!
Spray down your weather, stripping with silicone spray before the season and let it soak in and your doors won't freeze
I will give that a try! Thanks Ernie
The guy from Mississippi is always amazed that there is snow that can be just swept with a broom.
Same in texas
haha. Sometimes it does, sometimes it weighs a ton!
Nice vid-visit, Joe. Always wish I could be there to help! 👍👍
You are always welcome Dave
A 4x2 truck with a rear locking diff is the best of both worlds!

haha they actually weren't that bad Bill!
For the weatherstripping ,Kleen Flo has a product called Kleenslip that is a greaseless silicone that will solve your problem.

haha. Then I would have to work when the weather is bad!
Morning Joe, I’m staying inside today, -32°C without the wind. Catching up on my UA-cam watching and editing. Stay warm 😊🔥🪵🌴🥶
I don't blame you buddy. That is too cold!

Yes flat land, and not having cascade crud makes a BIG difference.
MIGHT BE A GOOD IDEA TO HAVE A SET OF ROLE BARS WITH A HEADACHE RACK TO PROTECT YOUR BACK GLASS ON PICKUP TRUCK . WE MAKE OUR OWN AT OUR METAL SHOP
When selling wood saw a few windows broken out very expensive fix unless have connections but the slider is more expensive 😊
The headache rack is on my list. I had to spend a lot of $$ on my other truck for repairs so my budget was shot until spring

2wd. It is for the locking rear end gear

Thanks Craig but I will change i a second if i find a better way!
Id be building me a garage for trucks. Tax right off. Unfortunately we are getting real winter here.
That would be nice for sure. For now, ice scrapers are cheaper!!!
Keep on chugging along!
That's the plan Nick!
Near Norwood ?
Not sure what you mean Dawg. Thanks for watching buddy
put some grease or something on the weatherstrip lol
Yes... but that would require me to do something! haha

ITS ALL ABOUT TIRES and wgt

Have not. I have a headache rack for it but not putting it on until the spring
