So Steppenwolf would have had a complex motivation, Cyborg and Aquaman would have had more development, Superman's resurrection would have made sense, Batman's sacrifice would have been justified and not idiotic, and all the DCEU movies would have felt connected together. This would have been a complete film!

Think it was because they say; Kevin Tsujihara wanted his large percentage bonuses before 2018 rolled around. Just let DC be DC! Superman is always looking for the best in humanity and tries to teach humanity it can be better. Batman never trusts anybody and assumes the worst of all people. Wonder Woman dislikes humanity for their bloodlust but has a great heart of love and is willing to follow Superman's method. Flash is there because he needs a sense of family. Aquaman is really there looking out for the best interest of Atlantis, but he doesn't mind helping the dry-landers to keep Atlantic safe and secured. This formula works and the chemistry is amazing! Don't try to be what you're not!

watching this actually hurts. SO much time and effort put into all this. And WB comes in and throws it away without giving it a thought. It's not a movie they're throwing away. It's the hard work of 1000s of people they're throwing away.
What have they done.....
Made the movie more dynamic, added some substance over the spectacle and unnecesary dramma. Superhero movies dont need to be all sadness and antiheroes. DC needed more "heroicness" (dunno if you can say that, english is not my first language) and less darkness. Snyder movies tend to be tedious, too image depending, and boring; it doesnt help that they dont actually teach anything and always look like they actually do, hence Martha scene (we all understood the psychology there, thats why it made no sense).
The bomb on the bank was unnecesary for the script, because a scene like that has to be explored, not just shown, the movie didnt have the time for that because of an alien invasion and the end of the world. Whedon did right to reshot and made the bomb something that didnt really harm, it took a weigh out of the movie and a plot-hole out of the story.
Same principle with Cyborg, movie dont have time to explore Cyborg's feelings; there are other five protagonists... they need to give them screen. It's WB's guilt, they had to do a Titans movie first, they didnt because they wanted to keep up with Marvel studios right away (but Marvel studios have been doing movies since 10 years ago). Deleting his inner conflict scenes was necessary for the movie not to redound on his deppresion, we ultimately saw it and were very ware of that. The lack of background is WB's doing, not Snyder's and certainly not Whedon's; with those scenes, movie would have been longer and tedious. We also, dont have the time to see Cyborg learning to use his body, again, there are other 5 protagonists and a world about to end.
Evil kryptonian and all it's scenes (including darkseid's) was another sideplot that needed to be avoided, for it would mean lots of more footage, longer movie and it would need another movie to solve(which wouldnt have). Didnt have the time. Cutting it up was also a decision i would also do. With an alien invasion at hand, movie didnt have time for the League fighting superman too, it would have been difficult to follow. The principal plot would lose importance and it would feel like the movie didnt work enough neither of the plots. Also, Martha cant keep superman calm, not even in the comics...
Lasso scene was Whedon's signature to the movie.
Long story-short, the movie was garbage before Whedon took the wheel; now is at least something you can watch and enjoy. People expect too much from superhero movies, they shouldnt, this is not a genre of cult movies.

There is nothing good about Whedon's additions to the film. Nothing good at all.
There was no substance added. There was only substance removed or replaced with lesser substance. Whedon has not made a decent film since 2012.
The bomb was not unnecessary. The movie WOULD have had more time if the runtime had not been cut to two hours. They were not simply reactionary terrorists in the original, I believe. They were influenced by the death of Superman or the coming of Darkseid. More importantly, this scene shows Diana's return to the spotlight for the first time in a hundred years.
As for Cyborg, you are so delusional. Cyborg was the HEART of this film. He was supposed to have such a larger journey. Instead he was relegated to a goddamn plot device at best. Reducing the moving did not nothing to make his character better. They just made him mildly depressed but not nearly enough for us to care. The lack of background is Whedon's doing and Warner's because Whedon folded over when they insisted he shorten the film. Ben Affleck did not want that. Neither did Chris Terrio. But Geoff Johns did not care, and Whedon did not fight his decision. Furthermore, Whedon shoehorned in several unnecessary scenes involving a Russian family who just waste our time.
As for the Evil Superman? You think's an avoidable sideplot? How dumb are you? This movie is supposed to TIE IN to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, specifically to the Knightmare sequence. The dream but not a dream where Superman conquers the world under Darkseid's will. There would have been NOTHING difficult to follow if you watched the predecessor. It'S PART of the principal PLOT! Removing it only muddied the waters and lessened the overall impact of Superman's return. And what do you mean Martha cannot calm Superman? What comics do you read? What acid do you have with them?
Long story short, the movie was perfect before Whedon stepped in. Now it's the worst film released by DCEU. It's barely watchable; the fact that the studio allowed that blatant CGI moustache to slip past final editing is a crime.
Snyder Cut is Better.

WB decided mid production that they wanted to lighten up the tone of the JL movie, based on the success of the not quite so super serious Wonder Woman movie, not to mention the Marvel movies. . He has a family type, not adult approach towards the films . Snyder has more of an adult approach. He tends to make the film long , but the result is good. Both Snyder and Whedon are of different approaches , so u can't simply blame Whedon . Yes , WB is to be blamed, both for bvs and JL . Both were superb films , if WB had not cut some parts of them.

Bro I'm so upset right now after watching this. I have waited such long to watch this movie. And Zack made the JL as it was intended to. He made it for us. I still remember when I watched MoS for the 1st time I was so excited to see where this universe go with Superman. I was so pumped to watch everyone together after BvS. Zack had planned everything so perfectly from the beginning. I really want to see his pure vision. I want to watch Justice League directed by Zack Snyder. It is our right. Is this stuff proveable? I’m hyped for the Snydercut, it just seems like some of these things aren’t true, like the scene of Bruce talking about how he has to sacrifice himself, wasn’t that part of Josstice League reshoots?
