A dish that is so filling and delicious! Mung beans are perfect for budget meals and you can add just about any vegetable or meat that you want! I must admit, I haven't always loved Filipino Monggo, but my wife's recipe has certainly made me crave it over and over again. I hope you enjoyed this cheap and easy recipe (and don't forget to listen for the secret ingredient that my wife always adds!)
Pinakamasarap na ginisang munggo (monggo) recipe galing kay Reyna Jessy:
1-3 cups monggo (mung beans)
1-2lbs pork belly
1 sibuyas (onion)
3 cloves garlic
1 chunk of ginger
2 kamatis (tomatoes)
2 pork knorr cubes
water
salt
pepper
patis (fish sauce) to taste

You can soak the monggo overnight to make it soft and it just need little time to cook. It will taste more delicious if you cook the chicharon with everything. Ampalaya and malunggay are best with monggo! You can also use young sayote leaves, masarap din sya as well as Sweet potato leaves.

Ako rin, I put sotanghon on my munggo. I add about 3 to 5 pcs of Shrimps including the head. I add chicken bullion not pork. Pag luto na, I remove the shrimp heads. I also top it with chicharon na may laman.

I’m inspired to cook munggo the way Jake did. Go easy on the patis and anything salty. Eating too much salty food can lead to high blood pressure which could lead to kidney failure. This seems to be a common disease now among Filipinos. Too many people undergoing dialysis. I do enjoy your videos.

That's how I pre cook my mung beans, with the pork. Several purpose, beans are cooked, pork is tenderized and broth is infused with pork flavor.
