Did you notice Layne was singing the baritone pieces in a couple of spots - so cool. I laughed so hard at your "and Eli, goodness gracious that man is creepy if he wants to be" comment. So very true. As much as we all miss Earl I think his departure has really given Eli a chance to shine.

You missed Layne. Usually so charming, often the self-appointed clown - turned into a homicidal maniac. Terrifying. What was most impressive to me was how even the talent was. We can always count on Geoff and Layne to sustain a character throughout, but.... The challenge, of course, is that when everyone doesn't hold character, who ever does "steals" the stage - our eyes go straight to them. This time, ALL of them found distinct characters and held who they were every second. Each of them was so strong that no one could steal the stage from the other. And when you're playing against Geoff and Layne, that's a high bar. I was stunned at what good actors they EACH were. I knew their music was hard to beat, but this was a whole new level. As much as I enjoy the "play" part of VoicePlay, my favorites have become Warriors, My Mother Told Me, and now Hoist is at the top of the list. Just amazing. (And if you have time, watch Dennis' reaction to Qofy's reaction - it's hilarious and total slapstick.) Loved your reaction, as I always do. Thank you!
I've watched it about 30 times now and I still get goosebumps. Completely mind blowing. I"ve heard through the Patreon grapevine that another one is coming that is even more incredible. Geoff supposedly breaks his low note record.

The piece in Pirates of the Caribbean is short / simple, but still darkly dramatic. The Voiceplay arrangement is astounding! Its creepy, melancholy, dark, powerful, strong all at once. The voice talents of each member were simply stellar; above & beyond. Llayne,Eli, & Geoff blew me away & seeing Jose collab'ing w/them again was so good!

Geoff TOTALLY outdid himself with this arrangement, everyone performed it so amazingly, Eli's (and Geoff's) lighting choices just made it even better, just EVERYTHING about it.....I can't get it out of my head. It hasn't stopped giving me chills, even though I've listened to it a million times already. I keep finding little things I'm seeing or hearing, there is just so much going on. AMAZING! Jose really was awesome and I always think of him as the captain here too, he almost looks euphoric a couple times, like this is everything the captain could want. :)

I'm kind of phobic about the eyes but staring Cesar in the eye when he looked straight at the camera just gave me the shivers instead of sending me into a screaming freak out. It was that intense and in character. And don't feel bad about searching for words; I've seen 3 other reactors so at a loss for words they just got up and walked off camera in shock. One of them left the room altogether; we could hear the door close. Kudos to everyone involved in put this masterpiece together. I can't get enough of watching the video and just listening to the music when I'm force to get up and do chores like laundry and dishes.
VP really outdid themselves here, but we all say that every time they release a new video lol. But this one is just.... amazing! Sooooo good. Geoff's arrangement was top notch and everyone's vocals were ON POINT! The set design, lighting, everything ah!! Cesar's eye looks so cool, I agree.
One thing that I don’t think any reactor has mentioned: although for the most part the beat keeps people swaying and drives the piece to a great ending, there are a few spots with syncopated beats for effect. Also, when you play it again, look for the VP scars they all have. Eli and Layne’s are on their left hands and Geoff’s is on his right arm. (Pirates that were caught but not killed were often branded with a P.). The other two also have their scar even though they don’t show in the video. That’s the level of attention to detail and dedication they give to their craft.
You have no idea how much I wanted to reach through the screen at the end, while you were staring at us in a daze, pat you comfortingly on the shoulder and say, "Yeah. That's what it does. It's okay." And there's really no preparing you for it. You are right there along with everyone else, left with their jaw hanging and at a loss for words. People do not know how to respond to this; they toss their headphones and walk away, they curl up fetal in their chairs. And we don't blame them, or you, for that. Because it's more or less what we all experienced, and that's why we love coming around to watch these videos in the first place. For that shared experience. This experience just happens to be a hell of a lot more intense than most! So, thanks for sharing your astonishment with us. These guys are on a weird, exponential climb lately, like their art is in the midst of perfecting itself. I've only been along for this ride less than a year, and already what I've seen of the evolution of this group is astounding. I can't wait to see what they do next!

Deliciously dastardly? Insanely genius? Intensely stupefying? All of the a fore mentioned rolled into one? Wow! All that was missing was the plank. (I frankly thought a plank would come at the end.) Halloween worthy at the very least. I think Eli is becoming my fav for adding a tense foil highlighting a perfect counter to those down into the deep notes of the bass. Just WOW!
Yup. How did 5 guys do THAT? It was great! Geoff did the arrangement and he and Eli did the lighting. Jose pulled the sword. Did you hear the 'thump' when he brought it down (with care, covering the point)to the floor. Then Geoff holds the F1 while the crew sings that last refrain. I also noted that Geoff enunciated 'watery' very carefully. There is a natural inclination to slur the 't' to a 'd' sound, but he was VERY precise. Those little things always catch my ear. And yeah, Cesar had the MOST amazing makeup! Geoff did the arrangement and he has a habit of using Eli and his 'metal scream' voice rather than the smoother, sweeter one he used in We're Good. Eli has both an amazing range and the ability to change styles. He and Geoff are like VP's best weapons.

No, seriously, you should watch and react to “the King Family Reacts” reaction of this. This masterpiece has created some of the best reactions I’ve ever seen! Even my fiancé called it “Amazing!” which is his equivalent to jumping up and down on the couch.
Melinda's version of this song is a lot more ethereal, though it becomes monotonous overtime and when it isn't, it's when all four are harmonizing. Colm McGuinness Music's version has a lot more bass, it's grittier, darker in tone - detracts from a pirate song and becomes one suited for the viking era - that completely ruins the song. This version however is well balanced, dynamic and personally for me, the harmonies and contrasting the higher and lower vocal registers, is what makes this song amazing.
Watching you watch this was really fun! Voiceplay outdid themselves with this one and I am SO happy that they did this song. I feel like it's one of the underrated songs out of the sea shanty realm.

This one was genuinely amazing... I loved it, and I loved your reaction to it. I do feel like this video was pretty much tailor-made to devastate reactors (and the audience more broadly). I haven't seen one reaction to this that isn't beyond blown away, and at least two reactions that involved the reactor having to get up and walk away from their chair for a minute. On top of that, their cover of the Halo theme song was amazing, but it was the explanation at the end, making it clear that the video was done in memory of one of the original pre-VoicePlay members of the group, who had passed away recently... God, that had everyone in the car choked up so hard.
