Hi, I just wanted to say thanks. I'm just getting started and this is exactly the kind of information I'm looking for. I'll be going to the Gemboree this weekend. I cant wait!

I am pleased that I could help a little bit. I hope you enjoy the Gemboree and can get out on one or more of the tours - they are excellent. Also, the museum in the old rail station in Bancroft is small but has a great collection to see.

Have fun on your adventures. If you go into the Bancroft area, maybe we will cross paths. I have not gone there yet this year, but can tell you, take bug spray. ;-)

My best advice is use google to search. Bancroft has some online resources which will direct you to public collecting sties. There is a well respected rock and mineral club in Kingston. Downloading the books by Ann P Sabina from the Geological Survey of Canada is worthwhile.

I only use sandpaper on ore. I don't try to polish crystals. Maybe I should?
