    About the size: Savotta is quite true to the old Finnish tradition of ”Don’t promise anything that you cannot deliver, rather deliver more than you promised”

      What a great saying. There's a lot of people trying to make new and improved comments and saying about modern life, however all we have to do is ask our grand parent and they have pearls of wisdom like this. Thanks for sharing this

    As one viewer noted earlier, Saami are the tribe.
    Särmä is Varusteleka’s house brand, Särmä TST is the ”hard core, combat ready” subbrand
    Särmä means ”squared away” or ”sharp” as in ”sharp dressed man” - literal translation of särmä is edge.
    TST is army shorthand for ”taistelu” which translates as battle or combat.
    TST-vyö is battle belt (or vest), TST-harjoitus is combat exercise.
    Varusteleka is a two part word; varuste means equipment and leka is heavy one hand hammer (Thor’s hammer, hammer of Vulcan)
    en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vulcan_(mythology)

      Hi Jukka, thanks for this brilliant comment. I definitely didn't think when I said that. To my English tongue they definitely sounded similar 😊 I really enjoy learning about the names behind things and I've found Varusteleka have a nice way of thinking so these explanations make perfect sense too. I'll have a read through the link you attached too. Thanks again for the great comment, I hope you're well and having a great week

    Thanks for another great review.
    5.11 Hexgrid insert should solve the (arguable) shortcoming with the modularity on the back panel.
    And then you can quick swap the whole organisational layout between packs.

      Hey buddy. I like you're idea. It's only a tiny alteration on an other wise awesome pack. It's great trying out new stuff like this. Makes me want to hunt down more brand to show case. All the best

    Nice! Varusteleka make awesome gear. Definitely the wrong weather for it but check out their wool jackets - for a supernaturally warm winter hoodie they're amazing. Very interesting to see a good review of one of their bags. That pleated back compartment is particularly clever.

      This bag really impressed me. There's quite a bit of their Särmä gear that looks right up my alley 😂 I think I need to send in a few cheeky emails. Have a great weekend fella

    This backpack looks amazing.
    I keeped an eye on it for a long time. But in the video, it looks bigger than 15l. More like 20l can it be? I ask because 15l is just a litle bit to small for my uses but if it is a bit bigger than it would be perfect.

    • @MoorlanderEDC
      @MoorlanderEDC  5 днів тому

      It's definitely an awesome bag for sure. Yes, it's just 15ltrs. It feels larger than 15lyrs though. I think it's due to its square shape. You can use the space effectly rather than find without bags things don't fit in 🤙

    Get the jääkäri large it's the best one, 👌🏻. The webbing is the two tone colour also on the jääkäri pack I have and its tough as hell and the weave is very dense as you said.

    • @MoorlanderEDC
      @MoorlanderEDC  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Mt, I've seen the Savotta packs a lot and it's time I finally got one. I think the large might be a wee bit to big for me. I was looking more at the medium... Although, I'm also looking for a trebuchet like in their website to fire one with 😉

    • @Legionnaire7777
      @Legionnaire7777 2 роки тому +1

      @@MoorlanderEDC The top on the large can be rolled right down and the side straps compressed in making it a 40L or less plus the belt can be taken off it's very adaptable, but what ever Savotta pack you purchase you will be happy with it. Also forgot to mention the top lid can be completely removed too.

  •  2 роки тому +1

    very nice backpack and more interesting (for me) than the prior presented (the day breaker one) :)
    It seems larger than a 15 liters this and probably (like you said) some things to hold better in place inside can be a plus if not really full loaded (example: just a laptop :))

    • @MoorlanderEDC
      @MoorlanderEDC  2 роки тому +3

      Hi Raphael. This one is definitely a bit more of a tougher outdoors pack. Although it says it's a 15ltr, it feels more like a 20ltr. When you're packing gear inside, I've packed the same gear as the Helikon Tex Raccoon and it's pretty much the same. Thank you again for watching my friend

    I’m on the hunt for the ultimate 15l backpack, the Small Hunter Savotta as well as the Tasmanian Tiger Essential pack XL and the Eberlestock Bandit pack weren’t the shit. Now I have to try the goruck 15l and Särmä I guess… ;)

      I got the tst cp 15 today and it was love at a first glance! I loved the TT essential pack and the cp 15 is that on steroids! I highly recommend to check out the Savotta Jääkäri M backpack, it’s my favorite backpack around 30l, indestructible and arround 200€ even with inflation a totally fair deal! I’m telling you, it's the liquorice and polka that makes the finns so awesome designers for outdoor gear!

    • @MoorlanderEDC
      @MoorlanderEDC  2 роки тому +1

      Oh man, the TT Essential pack is one of my all time favourite bags. It was that pack that really sold me on them and from that I managed to become a UK TT ambassador. You can really go nuts adding features to bags and ruin them. A simple well made pack can do so much and last for every. I think the TST CP15 is one of these heirloom style bags that'll get passed down to Moorlander grandchildren for generations 😆
      I've had lot of people talking about the Savotta Jääkäri M so I sent Varusteleka a cheeky email this morning asking if they'd consider sending me one. I grew up with those top loader barrel/bucket style packs walking in the Moorlands to I'd like to see what all the fuss is about. I've also asked my TT guy if I get my hands on the new MilOp30 to look and maybe do a comparison. Those style packs really are timeless.
      Liquorice and polka 😆
      Have a cracking weekend buddy

      thanks a lot for the brilliant input you always give. Edc was always a thing for me, as my grand grand father who fought sadly on the wrong side in world wars two always said: “a real boy needs to always carry a knife and a watch”… and since I discovered this brilliant UA-cam community I grew so much more interest into the survival and Outdoor Sektor and even honed my English to a level where I have no problems communicating in daily situations. I tell you English in German schools taught by german teachers who barely speak a sentence straight ain’t the best teaching experience. I really hope we can soon see the Jääkari M on your channel and the MilOps 30 is also on my list, but I hope as Bundeswehr Surplus. 🤞
      And I watched bike luggage racks and discovered that some have the right spacing for the CP15, so you basically can attach two of them with zip ties to each side of the bike! Imagine a camo Mountainbike with a luggage rack and a Finnish camouflage cp15 on each side. I think I may have a plan. ;D

      My Granddad used to take me and my brother on adventures across the Welsh mountain and had a similar idea on life. Thinking more about it more I've realised a lot was down to my of young adventures where I'd always take a bags with me... Sandwiches, crisps, some water and rope for climbing trees... My mother was also a big person on time so she used to give me her watch. If I walked in one direction for two hours, I knew I had two hours to walk back in time to be home for dinner. I remember one time getting my numbers mixed up. Walk until 16:00 and then turn back, should have been walk but make sure you're home for 16:00. Mum nearly called the police and mountain rescue 😆
      I'll definitely see what I can do with the Jääkari M and the MilOps 30. I managed to get a hands on this year at IWA and I have a real fondness for those old school packs. Here's fingers crossed
      Also, your English is brilliant. The last time I learned any in a school was as a teenager which is why if you asked my age all I could think of is "Ich bin dreizehn jahre alt" 😅 My wife's German is way better than mine

      @@MoorlanderEDC It's somewhere on their site that's the only reason I know. I have one of these and love it bombproof pack. I agree with you it feels/looks slightly larger than the quoted 15L. I have the padded straps and use it as a camera bag. I have two of the Sarma medium molle pouches and plan to put a large molle pouch on the front. Not so much for volume but organisation or to improve ease of access. Good review chum, thank you.

    only one, tiny catch, it about 185GBP. I personally see no justification to spend that much money on what is a very-well made, but essentially, nothing more than just a daysack. Particularly, when decent (not as well designed, sure) reputable (enough) branded bags start at around 30GBP.

      Yeeeeeeeeah... I definitely see your point. If you were to take an iPhone at it's face value, there's easily a 600% mark up on it. I think this is a pack that'll definitely be here after the nuclear dust has settled (sorry not sure why that went all apocalyptic then)

      @@MoorlanderEDC Savotta 202 is still in production, though slightly changed (wider carrying straps; slightly narrower but deeper, same height; cordura instead of the older, thinner material).
      Also available from Varusteleka (only black now on stock, green and m05 camo will be restocked in a few weeks).
      The pack in the video is no more; as models evolve, Leka sells the old models for a slight discount.
