I agree, except for the spider. Even though the model and shading are beautiful It looks fake and even somewhat cartoony. I think it might be due to lacking subsurface scattering in its carapace and hairs.

All these great VFX are for backdrop only. The only reason the movie happens in space is to make the lead character as well as his wife left on earth the loneliest beings in the universe. Unfortunately, it attracted sci-fi fans into watching a marriage drama that has nothing to do with space.
