I learned this song from John Roberts/Tony Barrand's Dark Ships In The Forest & I've been passing it on to my Summer Sing for Adults class for 30 years or maybe more. Bedlam was a really scary place to be dumped if you were mentally ill. Joh & Tony have beautiful harmony. This guy is really good.
Bedlam or St. Bethlehem Hospital was the first charitable institution in London to provide 'care' for the mentally ill. It was probably no walk in the park, but way better than the streets.
