I think Catppucin is a cult of the Heaven's Gate variety masquerading as a color theme. I cannot be proven wrong on this.

The thing with Gruvbox having neutral and warm colors is that they have less blue light in them shining through, and blue light is shown to be bad for you. So as far as having something that is objectively or scientifically better, Gruvbox(except for the hard mode with a more bluish background) is better than a lot of other themes with tons of blue in the background and text.
It's not that blue light necessarily is bad for you, it's that the parts of your eyes that regulate the wake/sleep cycle are more sensitive to blue than other wavelengths. Green light and even red light of sufficient intensity can still disrupt sleep, just to a lesser degree. During bright daylight hours, blue light doesn't have any detrimental effect.
The point of Solarized isn't contrast for contrast's sake, but a nice, constant medium between not so much contrast, to scorch your eyes, and the muted pairs (comments) still having enough contrast to be effortlessly readable. I understand that it isn't so nice for a rice, and one can argue about the hue choice, but it works like a charm for me. I use it to filter the screen glare for years to look at code and configurations for hours on end without my eyes tiring out. Ethan Schoonover got my respect because he pulled it off for both the light and dark variants, and both look nice to me, but I admit, I never use the light variant and never let me pick colors :P

Gruvbox is my weapon of choice. I have tried to use loads of other themes. I am bored of the purple / blue hues and so dracula etc are out for me; these were the first types of "non-black" alternative dark themes for me, and they all seem really old fashioned. Only my opinion. Solorized... eugh, no thanks. The themes that are extreme darks are not so easy for me to read in long periods, just hurts my eyes. So Gruvbox is just lovely on my KDE plasma machine.
I used the Yaru theme switching from Ubuntu to Fedora. But not anymore.

You should try kanagawa, I don't know if there is support outside neovim, but I really like it
There's a gtk theme, and also emacs theme (though is missing some elements, eg in doom-line). For many other stuff you should DIY
Buuf icons with Cairo dock and all the bells and whistles, including Tux running around on the dock or GTFO. On Arch in Wayland. Otherwise you’re just fooling yourself :)

There's a kvantum theme.
A workaround for kvantum is using a kde color scheme. It themes every kde component and prevents some aesthetic issues by giving a more consistent experience.

Solarized is amazing for text editors, but I don't understand why anyone would want to use it as a GUI theme.

Everyone sleeps on Nightfox, my favorite variant of which rn is duskfox, but most of em look prtty great imo
Asahi Linux works perfectly except for alt-DP and battery life is better than most x86 laptops, but not as good as in Mac OS. Then again, fuck Mac os.
