More than a century of refining their craft has led Ludwig to the development of their latest aural offering: the Supralite snare drum. This showstopping snare masterfully merges distinctive sonics with unwavering value, evoking detailed voicing that’s rich in overtones with incisive attack. Sweetwater’s Nick D’Virgilio deploys his chops to test out the Supralite’s triple-flanged hoops and brass snare wires to see - or hear - what this Ludwig snare can do. Check it out!

Which do you prefer for your snare sounds: steel or wood? Sound off in the comments below, and don’t forget to drop by Sweetwater for a closer look at the Ludwig Supralite snare 👉 sweetwater.sjv.io/Ludwig_Supralite_Snare
I prefer steel, especially for the lower priced drums. My favorite wood snares are a little out of my price range
I have two of these. The 8" and the 6" depth. Both of them are outstanding. Granted I did swap the batter side hoops for die cast. An amazing snare drum and punches far above its price point.
see ya in 8 days Nick.....LOVE MY Ludwig snare
Beautiful sound !
Best snare at this price point!
Beautiful snare; beautiful kit ! ❤
Since the Supralite's came out they've been the best QPR steel snare on the market, imho. If you can't afford a Phonic, the Lite will more than get the job done........and some people actually prefer them. I always thought they were a bit brighter and crispier than a vintage Supra.
I may have to check it out
I have the 6.5, it’s a great workhorse of a snare drum. I upgraded to some Super 30 snare wires and an Evans HD batter, and it just kills.
How has it held up?
It’s held up great. I’ve had it for four years, much of that spent in the garage where I play my drums, and the chrome still looks good, everything works like it should.
@@Ludditeish Do you still use the same head and wires?
Still using the HD head and the super 30 wires.
Is the snare drum available in any of the stated finishes? Or just the CHROME finish only?
Real sleeper. Only snare I use.
How do they feel on the hands ?
@@joeldrummer23 feels like a supraphonic actually.
I own a 6x13!😊
Imagine if that was 6" diameter and 13" depth. 😛
I didn’t know they made a supralite in 13. Must have
Same. Have had the 13” for years. Was almost surprised to see a video featuring it, but good for others to be reminded of its sound, value and versatility.
Just picked up the 13 x 6 the other day.
Are the Supralite tube lugs the same part number as the tube lugs on the LM400T Supraphonic?
Hey, chanorando. Thanks for reaching out. I don’t believe they are. The LM400T does have different tube lugs I believe.
I hope this helps.

That's a hard one but I really lean towards steel
I don't like the badge change, imo lol
I love this but nowadays SOUND MEN WOULD SAY..." UH CAN YA MOON GEL THAT"??? ME: NOPE NOT GONNA DO IT HAHAHA
I don't like it, to much ring
Aluminum or wood might be better for you
Um, that's kinda why they invented moon gels
@@willymccabe6602 I dont like manipulation too get a drum to sound the way I like it other than quality heads and tuning of course. So many types of snares good to go out of the box imo
Different heads help
To everyone that commented here, this is why steel snares just aren’t good, or at least arent right for everyone. You shouldnt have to dampen a snare AT ALL to get it to sound good, and yet steel in general is just too much. Aluminum drums are just far better for that reason.
